Starbucks surprised fans with a unique Lunar New Year drink, the Lucky Savory Latte, featuring a braised pork flavor. The limited-edition beverage was introduced at the Starbucks Shanghai Reserve Roastery, adding a savory twist to the seasonal menu in celebration of the Lunar New Year, reports the New York Post

Starbucks marketed the latte as a blend of traditional New Year traditions. The drink includes espresso, milk, and Dongpo Braised Pork Flavor Sauce, named after a historical poet, with added pork sauce and a pork breast topping.

The exclusive drink, limited to China, honors the Chinese New Year starting on Feb. 10, priced at 68 Chinese yuan or $9.50 at Reserve stores. Pork symbolizes prosperity, wealth, strength, and blessings in relation to the Chinese New Year.

The reviews regarding the drink were mixed as some people were surprised about how much they enjoyed the unconventional drink. However, others, revealed they didn’t enjoy it. A user on Xiaohongshu, China’s equivalent of Instagram, said the drink was

“disgusting”

but the piece of pork accompanied with the drink was tasty.
