Dad Charges With Murder After Using Hot Water To Discipline His 7-Year-Old Son Resulting In His Death, Police Say

A New Hampshire man is behind bars after he allegedly poured hot water on his 7-year-old to

    “discipline”

him later causing his death from severe burns, per the NY Post.

Murtadah Mohammad, 25, was finally charged with second-degree murder for the tragic death of his son Jaevion Riley who died on Jan. 24. Mohammad had already been charged with

“assault, endangering the welfare of a child and falsifying physical evidence,”

for the same case. Those charges are expected to be dropped and bumped up to the murder charge which will be prosecuted by the state Attorney General’s office, officials said.

On Jan. 17 police were called to a Manchester apartment, where they discovered the boy in the shower with severe burn marks to his face and body, police said. According to a report by NBC Boston, the child was already unconscious and not breathing when they arrived. The boy was taken to a Massachusetts hospital where he was placed in a coma. He died a week later from his injuries.

Mohammad later confessed to using hot water and physical force to discipline his son, the outlet reported citing the dad’s affidavit. The child’s mother, Rainah Riley had previously made a complaint to child services about seeing signs of abuse after the child’s visitation with his dad but nothing was done, reports note.

“This man was trying to kill my child,”

    she told the outlet.

After seeing her son’s injuries she said it looked like they were

    “from boiling water or oil,”

    or he may have been

    “set on fire.”

She also revealed that one of the boy’s teeth had been knocked out and he had a head injury.

“It is absolutely gruesome, it is horrific, and it is sickening to look at,”

    the mom said.

“It makes me physically ill looking at my own son because of what this man did to him.”

“The system has failed not only my child, but so many children,”

    the mom said.

“And something needs to be done, because this isn’t OK. It’s not. Like, when is enough enough?”

  • Woman Charged With Murder After Shooting Uber Driver Because She Thought He Was Trying To Abduct Her

Woman Charged With Murder After Shooting Uber Driver Because She Thought He Was Trying To Abduct Her

A woman has been charged with murder after shooting her Uber driver last week because she thought he was attempting to kidnap her, PEOPLE reports.

Texas investigators revealed that 52-year-old Phoebe Copas wasn’t in danger adding that the 53-year-old driver, Daniel Piedra Garcia, wasn’t

    “veering from Copas’ destination.”

According to El Paso officials, Copas is being held behind bars on a $1.5 million bond. A relative of the driver revealed that he was sadly taken off life support.

In a GoFundMe post, Garcias’ wife revealed that he was

“the sole provider for our family”

    adding that he

“was very happy to finally be able to work and bring home income.”

The wife continued to write that he was happy to bring in income as a Uber driver after he hurt his knee at another job, which caused him to get surgery back in April.

Copas’ of Kentucky was visiting her boyfriend in Texas when she contacted Uber to take her to see her unnamed beau at a casino after he got off of work, reports KFOX14. Officials say Copas reportedly grew anxious when she allegedly noticed road signs for

    “Juarez, Mexico.”

    Officials added,

“At some point during the drive, Copas thought she was being taken into Mexico and shot Piedra.”

Officials informed KIVA that the woman pulled out a firearm and shot the Uber driver in the back of his head and wrist, which resulted in the car crashing. Before Copas contacted officials, she took a picture of the encounter and forwarded the image to her boyfriend.

“The investigation does not support that a kidnapping took place or that Piedra was veering from Copas’ destination,”

    authorities said.

It’s unclear if the woman entered a plea deal or if she has an attorney to speak on her behalf.
