Feds Decide Not To Pursue Death Penalty Against Lil Durk In Murder-For-Hire-Case

Lil Durk will not face the death penalty in his murder-for-hire case, prosecutors have disclosed. The rapper is currently incarcerated for hiring middlemen to kill Quando Rondo, a plan that affected Rondo’s cousin. Getting off the death penalty does not mean the Viral Moment rapper is off the hook. Neither are the allegations against him lighter. However, fans of the hip-hop star have regarded this as a legal triumph.

Lil Durk Won’t Get The Death Penalty

Federal prosecutors have announced that Lil Durk will not face the death penalty in his murder-for-hire case. Durk is accused of plotting the 2022 murder of Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, who was rapper Quando Rondo’s cousin. The US Attorney General directed the Attorney for the Central District of California not to seek the death penalty against Lil Durk. The attorney’s office for the Central District of California confirmed this directive in court documents filed on June 2, 2025.

This decision lessens the stakes involved in Durk’s trial but not the severity of the allegations against him. If found guilty, the Backdoor rapper will be sentenced to life in prison. In the meantime, he remains in a federal prison in Los Angeles while awaiting his detention hearing on June 3. The new hearing will determine whether Durk sits out the period before his trial in jail. The court had previously rejected his bail applications, citing concerns that the rapper might flee the country.

Authorities arrested him near Miami International Airport on his way to Italy in October 2024. Lil Durk’s trial has now been scheduled for October 14, 2025. The trial was delayed due to its complexity, according to a statement by Judge Stanley Blumenfeld Jr. Prosecutors must review over 20,000 pages of documents, and Blumenfeld had earlier noted that a quick resolution was unlikely. Meanwhile, Lil Durk’s fans are optimistic about the decision not to pursue the death penalty against him.

Lul Pab’s Mother Files A  Civil Lawsuit Against Lil Durk

The decision not to pursue the death penalty is one thing; however, Lil Durk has other legal concerns to consider. Besides his upcoming trial in October, Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, has another legal battle ahead of him. Lul Pab Robinson’s mother, Andrea Robinson, has filed a civil lawsuit alleging wrongful death. She filed the lawsuit in February and is seeking financial damages. Andrea Robinson also attended Lil Durk’s court session yesterday, where she testified that she was afraid for her life.

She also broke down in tears, but admitted that she did not know what happened with her son’s death. Authorities believe Lil Durk killed Robinson in retaliation for the death of another rapper, King Von. Von was Lil Durk’s close friend and a member of his Only The Family (OTF) label. They also believe Durk’s OTF label operates like a criminal organization, with instances of racketeering.

However, Lil Durk’s father believes his son is being targeted. He also condemned the accusations brought against his son and claimed the charges don’t take into cognizance Durk’s community efforts. Lil Durk has been involved in several community-building efforts, including the Neighborhood Heroes Foundation.

Nevertheless, the decision not to pursue the death penalty charge against Lil Durk is being celebrated in his circle. However, the case remains in the spotlight, and netizens are divided over the trial’s outcome.

  • Court Reportedly Denies Lil Durk Bail In Murder For Hire Case

Court Reportedly Denies Lil Durk Bail In Murder For Hire Case

A federal judge has reportedly refused to grant Lil Durk bail. U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue noted that his team didn’t have compelling evidence of a change in his case. Lil Durk’s denied bail application comes shortly after his legal team revealed their intention to have him out on bond. His lawyer said the judge had agreed to listen to a new bond application. He is implicated in a murder-for-hire case.

Judge Reportedly Denies Lil Durk Bail

A federal judge denied Lil Durk bail yesterday and ordered that he remain incarcerated until his trial. The rapper, currently behind bars, filed for bond and agreed to stringent conditions. However, the judge, U.S. Magistrate Judge Patricia Donahue, refused to approve it. She cited Durk’s violation of prison rules, stating that his conduct did not portray him as a law-abiding individual. The judge’s statement referenced a report that Lil Durk violated jail rules and used other inmates’ phone accounts.

She said he used 13 other inmates’ phone accounts to make outside and three-way calls. The judge claimed that Durk’s actions at L.A.’s Metropolitan Detention Center demonstrated “a disrespect for the rules.” However, Durk’s attorney, Drew Findling, argued that he didn’t “see it as an issue”. He declared that other inmates were also guilty of the same. Findling also argued that Lil Durk, who wore a white prayer cap, was committed “to his Muslim faith” and deserved to be granted bail.

Prosecution Claims Lil Durk Is Responsible For Denied Bail

However, Assistant U.S. Attorney Ian Yanniello pointed out that the defense team hasn’t offered new information. He argued that there wasn’t enough evidence to overturn the previous judge’s decision and grant Lil Durk’s bail. Yanniello also highlighted the crux of the government’s case against the rapper. He argued that the trial is about Lil Durk’s conduct, not his song lyrics, which the prosecution has now axed. Yanniello insisted that the rapper “will not follow the rules,” judging by his jail calls.

This touched on Findling’s claims that Lil Durk was willing to hire around-the-clock security as part of his bail requirements. The judge also agreed with Yanniello’s argument. She asked if the security team could be trusted to report their employer if he didn’t comply with court conditions. Meanwhile, prosecutors added a charge last week before Lil Durk’s bail hearing. They filed a superseding indictment that added a stalking resulting in a death charge.

However, the prosecution has dropped its claim that Lil Durk’s song proved his involvement in the murder-for-hire case. They had accused Durk of rapping about and commercializing a murder in his song, Wonderful Wayne & Jackie Boy. They removed references to it in their case after Findling pointed out that Durk recorded the song eight months before the shooting. Lil Durk is accused of ordering the murder of fellow rapper Quando Rondo. Rondo’s cousin died instead in the ambush.

Lil Durk’s Lawyer Speaks About His Case

During Thursday’s bail hearing, Lil Durk’s lawyer, Drew Findling, argued that the prosecution’s arguments were weak. He said prosecutors removing the lyrics from their indictment makes it “provably false” that his client had “monetized and celebrated the death at the heart of this case.” Per The Los Angeles Times, he called the allegations against Durk “sweeping generalizations.”

After Lil Durk’s bail hearing, Findling said the prosecution’s case boiled down to “one out of context text message. We feel that a 32 year-old man with no record should be entitled to time outside of the jail cell that he can spend with his family and colleagues,” he said.

Mohammed Gangat also weighed in on Lil Durk’s case. He said Durk looked like “he was in good spirits” during his hearing. He claimed the rapper’s team had a great chance of winning at the trial beginning on October 14. “The prosecution’s case has taken two major hits,” he disclosed, describing those as a “silver lining.” The first was the prosecution removing references to the rapper celebrating the murder. The second was that prosecutors can no longer prove Durk had paid the bounty through a co-defendant.

Fans await the trial’s outcome after the judge denied Lil Durk bail. Already, many have expressed pessimism, but some are still keeping hope alive.

  • Judge Agrees To Hear Lil Durk’s New Bond Request On May 8

Judge Agrees To Hear Lil Durk’s New Bond Request On May 8

A judge has agreed to a new bond hearing for Lil Durk over his murder-for-hire charge. His family is fighting against his indictment and has claimed that prosecutors procured false evidence against him. His attorneys have argued against the evidence presented against him. They also plan to have the charges dismissed or, at the very least, secure his release on bail. The rapper has been accused of placing a bounty on a rival, Quando Rondo.

Lil Durk’s New Bond Hearing Has Been Scheduled

Lil Durk has a new bond hearing scheduled for May 8 in Los Angeles. A judge agreed to listen to the rapper’s attorney’s request after a new offer. Lil Durk’s lawyers are arguing that he is not a flight risk and are calling for his release on bond. They are presenting a new bail package worth over $2 million. This includes $1 million in cash, $900,000 in real estate, and $150,000 from a friend. They also offer 24/7 armed security and electronic monitoring to argue that he is not a flight risk.

Per Complex, Lil Durk’s attorneys are pushing for the murder-for-hire case to be thrown out or for bond. They argued that the prosecution used “unfair” and “misleading” evidence to secure an indictment for their client. The evidence consists of a video that prosecutors claimed existed during a hearing in January that matched Durk’s lyrics with a murder.

“The bottom line is there was a video that was filmed showing defendant’s rival screaming, ‘No. No,’ that was placed over these lyrics,” they said, referring to a version of the track Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy, featuring Durk and Babyface Ray.

However, in their request for his bond, Lil Durk’s lawyers claimed that fan pages, not Durk, compiled and posted them. They also accused the government of mishandling and misattributing evidence. Lil Durk has also long denied the claims in a previous statement. He declared that he wrote the lyrics months before Robinson’s death, making it impossible for them to refer to the incident.

Prosecutors Present New Evidence Against Lil Durk

Durk is implicated in the murder of Saviay’a Robinson, a relative of Quando Rondo, with whom Durk has a feud. In the motions filed on April 18, prosecutors argued that Durk tried to profit off Robinson’s murder, using Wonderful Wayne and Jackie Boy as evidence. They have also presented new evidence to support their claims and prevent Lil Durk from being granted a bond.

Prosecutors shared an unreleased Lil Durk track titled Scoom His A**, which they claim to have gotten from a co-defendant’s phone. According to Complex, the April 28 documents claim that the song supports the rapper’s alleged murderous intent. They insisted the evidence was genuine and warned against granting Lil Durk bond, saying he was still a flight risk or potential danger.

Authorities arrested Lil Durk in October 2024 while he was attempting to flee to Italy. A grand jury indicted him for murder-for-hire charges in the  2022 killing of Saviay’a Robinson. Prosecutors allege that Quando Rondo was the intended target, but his cousin, Robinson, got hit instead. They claim the shooting was in retaliation for the murder of Durk’s associate, King Von, by someone connected to Rondo. They also allege that Durk paid the bounty through his OTF label to avoid detection.

    Lil Durk Shares Update

Lil Durk also shared an update about his situation a day before the bond application. “I’ve been good, man. Mentally, spiritually, I’m on top of my sh*t,” he told DJ Akademiks. “I’ll be back out there, you hear me? Thank you—I need all the prayers. I appreciate you.” He added, “Ain’t nothing changed, bro. I’ve just been focused on life, my family. I’m trying to learn Arabic in here. A couple guys know it fluently, so I’ve been picking up words, just tightening up my Arabic. Just building knowledge.”

Lil Durk’s family is also seeking the public’s help. They released a statement on Tuesday accusing the government of presenting “false evidence to a grand jury to indict him.” The family continued, saying, “That isn’t justice. That’s a violation of the very system that’s supposed to protect all of us. Durk has always used music to tell stories, to express pain, to heal — and yet those same lyrics are now being used against him.”

They added, “We refuse to stay silent as Black artists continue to be criminalized for their creativity. Rap is art.” They then pleaded with the public to support them and speak against Durk’s incarceration.

It’s good to know that the rapper is doing well in jail. However, it remains to be seen if the judge will grant Lil Durk’s bond request in a few days.

  • Rapper Lil Durk Indicted By Federal Prosecutors for Second Murder-for-Hire Plot

Rapper Lil Durk Indicted By Federal Prosecutors for Second Murder-for-Hire Plot

Chicago rapper Lil Durk, born Durk Devontay Banks, was again linked to a second murder-for-hire plot this week. The embattled singer is currently being held for the attempted murder of rapper Quando Rondo. He was charged with the attempt, which led to Rondo’s cousin’s death. In the meantime, Durk has not been charged with Mack’s death yet.

Lil Durk Indicted for Second Murder-for-Hire Plot

Federal investigators brought new charges against Lil Durk for a second murder-for-hire shooting. The indictment, revealed in newly unsealed court documents, exposed the rapper’s role in the murder of Stephon Mack. The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his head and chest on Jan. 7, 2022. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. A second victim, a 40-year-old security guard, also sustained injuries but survived the shooting incident. Mack was murdered outside the Youth Peace Center of Roseland.

Federal prosecutors believe Lil Durk murdered Stephon Mack as revenge for his brother DThang’s death. The performer, born Dontay Banks, 32, was killed outside of Club O, a strip club in Suburban Harvey, on June 6, 2021. He was caught in an exchange of gunfire. Multiple shots were fired in the club during the commotion, and a policeman was also shot in the thigh. Banks died after being hit on the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Lil-Durk’s Murder-for-hire Plot Accomplices Charged

Two men, Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell, were indicted for Mack’s murder by a grand jury a year ago. The men got out of their car when Mack came out of the center and shot him multiple times. They were charged with conspiracy to use an interstate facility to commit murder-for-hire. The FBI linked Lil Durk to the two men and ascertained he committed murder-for-hire using texts, reliable informants, social media posts and phone metadata.

Photos from the prosecutors’ office revealed that Montgomery-Wilson pursued Mack with a gun while his partner shot the security guard. Powell went into hiding after the incident, and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Montgomery-Wilson has been charged, but he pleaded not guilty during his first hearing.

    Lil-Durk Planned a First Murder-for-Hire Plot

Lil Durk, whose first murder-for-hire plot against rapper Quando Rondo failed, has been denied bail. The Grammy winner paid five associates of his OTF (Only The Family) label to kill Rondo in retaliation for a label member, King Von’s death. Rondo’s friend shot Von multiple times when the latter was engaged in an altercation with Rondo outside of the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta.

Lil Durk placed a bounty on Rondo, and the attempt was carried out on his life on Aug. 18, 2022. Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire plot against Rondo failed, but Rondo’s cousin, Saviay’a Robinson, died instead. Durk tried to flee the country but was caught in Miami before he could board his flight. He pleaded not guilty, but a judge denied his bail appeal and $3 million bond proposal after his link to Stephon Mack’s murder-for-hire plot was revealed.

Lil Durk’s murder-for-hire plot has affected his legacy, although the US attorney’s office has asked the public to consider that he is innocent until proven guilty. Hopefully, everyone involved will get justice.

One of Alamo Records’ finest artists, Lil Durk, was featured on Kanye West’s “Vultures.” The entertainers thrilled their Dubai fans with the new song at Blu Dubai nightclub. TY Dolla Sign and Bump J — the other feature artists, were part of the performance.

TMZ reported that Kanye West intends to bring in Lil Durk as his own artist to work on an album. Before then, he talked with Todd Moscowitz, Alamo Records CEO, to release the rapper for another collaboration. However, the request was denied, and now, Kanye wants to take Lil Durk off the record label.

Kanye West’s “Vultures” Performance Stirred Controversy

While the new track titled Vultures might have given his Dubai audience the thrills, Kanye has received criticism from the US. The rapper who is most famous for his unapologetic anti-semitic remarks might have shaded the Jews in some way.

Following a viral clip showing the Dubai performance, people in the US have called for him to be cancelled. This was because Kanye rapped to the song and said, “How I’m anti-semitic? I just [expletives] a Jewish bitch.”

Businesswoman Tanya Zukerbort of Jewish roots fired at Kanye. She also attacked Chris Brown, who was spotted dancing to the song like everyone else.

Tons of observers shared sentiments similar to Zuckerbrot’s. They shamed the rapper for being anti-semitic with his lyrics. While Kanye’s camp has kept mute, Chris Brown defended himself via an Instagram statement.

The singer maintains that he will not be associated with anti-semitism while adding, “I’m pro-life, and I make music for the entire world. Chris Brown later warned the naysayers. ” Trying to be peaceful, but please do not wake up the demon in me,” he quipped.

Chris Brown Joins Kanye West & TY Dolla Sign to Dance To Their New Allegedly Anti-Semitic “Vultures” Track — See What Fans Had To Say

Chris Brown teamed up with Kanye West & TY Dolla Sign, who recently released the song “Vultures.” While this might have been a way to promote the tune among friends, fans online could not overlook the lyrics to what they have since termed anti-semitic.

Kanye West & TY Dolla Sign Already-Tagged Antisemitic Song “Vultures”

The 46-year-old rapper, who hosted a small group, jammed to his new release. A string of lines from Kanye West’s “Vultures” reads, “How I’m anti-semitic? I just [expletives] a Jewish bitch.” These words were excitedly repeated by Ye, who had Chris Brown, Ty Dolla Sign, and others listening and vibing to it.

Fans Say Kanye West And Chris Brown’s Anti-semitic Move Is Unacceptable

Those who have listened to the song and watched Chris Brown and Kanye West dance to it maintain that it is antisemitic. Tanya Zuckerbot, an entrepreneur of Jewish origin, felt attacked. She slammed the duo by writing via Instagram:

“What’s more sickening? The lyrics … Or the fact that both Kanye West and @chrisbrownofficial find it hysterical?” Sick, masochistic, antisemitic f–ks.”

Tanya Zuckerbot’s outcry influenced a host of critics who could not agree any less. One person mentioned that Chris Brown and Kanye West were not fit to continue their careers. The critics wanted the ultimate punishment conferred on them — cancel culture. The comment read:

“Let the record industry chew on this. Let them never EVER work again.”

Another commenter cited derogatory terms in describing the entertainers. The commenter cited their past issues hanging loosely around them. The fan quipped:

“Chris brown an abuser and Kanye west a psychotic narcissistic self proclaimed mastermind.”

On a general note, Kanye West and Chris Brown’s antisemitic moves have moved many to cancel them. The irate fans called it “sickening,” and “trash.”

West is not known for apologizing for any anti-semitic remarks or moves in the past. He once mentioned that he was aware of his comments and had no intentions of taking back his words against the Jews.
According to Page Six, Brown is not excluded either, as his controversy during his time with Rihanna — physical assault and other legal drama, has made many dislike him.
