  • Bodycam Footage Released Of Airman Fatally Shot By Cop, Sheriff Dispute Claim That Deputy Went Into Wrong Apartment

Bodycam Footage Released Of Airman Fatally Shot By Cop, Sheriff Dispute Claim That Deputy Went Into Wrong Apartment

The sheriff of Okaloosa County, Florida, released bodycam footage of a deputy shooting a Black airman in his home. The sheriff disagreed with the victim’s family’s claim that the deputy had entered the wrong apartment. The victim, identified as Roger Fortson, was an active-duty senior airman. His family described him as a patriotic individual who wanted to provide a home for his mother and siblings, according to ABC

The sheriff, after meeting with Fortson’s family, requested the Florida Department of Law Enforcement Division to conduct the necessary criminal investigation. The deputy involved has been put on administrative leave while the investigation is ongoing

    Sheriff Eric Aden said,

“What we do know at this time is that the deputy did announce himself, not once but twice.”

Despite the sheriff’s statement, Fortson’s family still believes the officer went to the wrong home.

    What led to the shooting?

Last Friday, deputies were called to an apartment due to a reported disturbance. Upon hearing the sounds, a deputy acted in self-defense when confronted by a 23-year-old armed man. Sadly, the man died from his injuries.

On May 3rd, a deputy arrived at an apartment complex in response to a disturbance. A woman informed the deputy about the situation in apartment 1401, mentioning loud noises and a possible altercation. The woman later informed officials that she had passed by the apartment earlier and heard yelling and a sound like a slap, but she couldn’t determine where it came from. The deputy went to the fourth floor, knocked on the door, and identified himself, but there was no response captured on the bodycam footage.

As soon as the apartment door opened, the deputy quickly commands Fortson to step back and shoots his weapon.

Attorney Ben Crump released a four-minute FaceTime call on Thursday, which he claims shows Fortson talking to his girlfriend before being shot.

Wife Of Man Accused Of Driving His Family Off Cliff Wants To Save Their Relationship, Says ‘We Need Him In Our Lives’

The wife of a California doctor, Dharmesh Patel, who is accused of driving his family off a deadly cliff, expressed her desire to have her husband back home during a court hearing in San Mateo. Patel was charged with “three counts of first-degree attempted murder” after navigating his Tesla off Devil’s Slide near California Highway 1 back in Jan. 2023, with his wife and two children, who were aged 4 and 7 at the time of the incident, per FOX NEWS

“I don’t want to see Dharmesh prosecuted with any of his charges,”

Neha Patel said amid a court appearance on Zoom.

Neha Patel is requesting the court to mandate mental health treatment for her husband instead of imprisonment. She provided testimony about his character before the accident, emphasizing their 16-year marriage and describing him as a valuable “member of society” and her “best friend.” Neha and her children were injured in the crash and initially, she expressed to first responders that her husband had deliberately driven off the side when the incident first occurred.

When first responders arrived on Jan. 2, they saw a white Tesla about 250 feet down the cliff. They observed the victims still alive inside the car. Using a Jaws of Life tool, rescuers were able to extract the two children from the vehicle through its windows. Witnesses and video footage indicate that the Tesla drove straight off the cliff without any braking or attempt to avoid the crash, as per Wagstaffe’s explanation.

On Thursday, Dr. Yan Chan testified that Patel was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, attributing his symptoms to paranoia.

“We need him in our lives, and it has been over a year and a half since my children or I have seen or spoken to Dharmesh. … We are not a family without him,”

Neha continued to say in the testimony about her spouse.

  • Grandfather Arrested After Paying Homeless Lady $20 To Watch 7-Year-Old Granddaughter While He Went To The Bar

Grandfather Arrested After Paying Homeless Lady $20 To Watch 7-Year-Old Granddaughter While He Went To The Bar

A 54-year-old grandfather was arrested for child endangerment after giving money to a homeless woman to take his granddaughter, 7, to a thrift store while he went to a bar in the Sacramento-area. He also faces charges of being drunk in public and driving with a suspended license, per The Sacramento Bee

Authorities responded to a call at a bar’s parking lot in the Old Foothill Farms neighborhood. A passerby reported that the grandfather claimed his granddaughter was “kidnapped for human trafficking.”

When deputies arrived, they discovered the grandfather heavily intoxicated. He admitted to giving $20 to a homeless woman to take his granddaughter to a thrift store while he went to the bar. A nearby security camera recorded the woman taking the 7-year-old girl.

Additional sheriff’s personnel were summoned to locate the missing girl. The search involved a sheriff’s helicopter, aerial drones, and K-9 units. Approximately 30 minutes later, the homeless woman, upon hearing the helicopter’s announcements, returned with the girl. Deputies verified the woman’s statement that the grandfather had given her money to take the child to the thrift store. She expressed concerns about the grandfather’s ability to take care of the young girl.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the woman took the girl to her camp to provide food. Deputies interviewed the child, who confirmed the woman’s story. Luckily, the granddaughter was discovered to be in good health and was checked by paramedics. It was revealed that the girl’s aunt had custody but had asked the grandfather to look after her while she worked. After consulting with Child Protective Services and the Sheriff’s Child Abuse Bureau, officials allowed the girl to return home with her aunt. Consequently, the grandfather was apprehended for child endangerment.
