Man Charged After Running Over Pregnant Woman Expecting His Twins While She Was Changing Tire

A pregnant woman with twins was frightened when a car struck her while she was changing a tire, per PEOPLE. The same woman experienced another shock when she found out that the driver who hit her is the father of her twins, Justin Ahkuoi. She is now recovering, while he is in police custody. This incident happened on April 8, moments before noon, per a criminal complaint from Honolulu District Court.

Detective Dean Terakawa from the Honolulu Police Department reported in the complaint that he responded to a scene of a “possible domestic argument.” When he arrived, he discovered a pregnant woman who had been struck by a vehicle, luckily, she was “awake and breathing” at the time.

The victim informed Officer Reggee Bailey at the scene that she was four months pregnant with twins and that Ahkuoi is their father. She explained that earlier that day, while changing a tire, he reportedly drove quickly and sideswiped her, causing her to spin and plunge to the ground.

The victim told Bailey that Ahkuoi got out of his car and allegedly shouted, “F— you,” claiming he had just killed their two babies.

A bystander verified the events, leading the HPD to charge and arrest Ahkuoi. He was later arrested and is currently facing a charge of second-degree attempted murder. Thankfully, the victim and her unborn twins are expected to recover fully.

  • Mother Arrested After Reportedly Giving Jell-O Shots Containing Alcohol To Group of 5th Graders At Holiday Party

Mother Arrested After Reportedly Giving Jell-O Shots Containing Alcohol To Group of 5th Graders At Holiday Party

A mother from Texas is being charged after reportedly serving Jell-O shots to fifth graders at a holiday party, per PEOPLE

Teresa Bernal is facing felony charge for injuring a child after students at Jones Elementary School ate vodka-infused Jell-O shots on Dec. 20. Most students had consumed the shots before staff discovered the alcohol, according to a court affidavit. Bernal claimed she didn’t know the shots contained any booze.

According to the affidavit, she claimed she didn’t know Jell-O shots contained alcohol until that day. Once teachers learned what happened, they sent affected students to the nurse. The officer for the school, Darrin Grissom, noted that almost all 15 students he spoke to reported stomachaches and headaches. Two students experienced more serious reactions.

The affidavit mentions that some Jell-O shots had strawberries and whipped cream, and others had a holiday theme. Grissom reached out to the store where Bernal bought the shots. The person who took the order agreed to share details. The complaint states Bernal asked if the shots contained alcohol after the kids had consumed them, and Grissom claims the Facebook ad advertising the shots indicated that vodka was used in the shots.

“In my opinion, there is no way Bernal could have missed the fact that the Jello-O shots she purchased … contained drinking alcohol,” said Grissom.

  • Parents Suing Southwest Airlines After 4-Year-Old Son Was Burned By Spilled Coffee On A Flight

Parents Suing Southwest Airlines After 4-Year-Old Son Was Burned By Spilled Coffee On A Flight

A couple is suing Southwest Airlines after their young son was burned by hot coffee during a flight. Ryan and Kamrie Wong filed the lawsuit on Wednesday in Chicago. Their son, referred to as K.W. in the lawsuit, is just four years old and suffered second-degree burns from the spill, according to a report by Reuters, per Business Insider

The family was on a flight from Orlando to Chicago last September when a flight attendant was awkwardly carrying a drinks tray with one hand, according to the lawsuit. The coffee spilled on the boy, causing him to cry out, “It’s so hot!” The child suffered second-degree burns on his rear end and was in pain, as stated in the suit.

The lawsuit mentioned that the flight attendants were unhelpful and failed to apologize for the boy’s injuries.

The suit said, “K.W. was in significant, visible, and vocal pain and distress throughout the rest of the flight.”

After landing in Chicago, the family waited for a flight to Utah, which is where they reside. The lawsuit claims a gate agent worsened things by seating the boy on his burned buttocks, causing a blister to burst.

Since the incident, the child struggled with sitting, using the bathroom, and dressing. He missed two weeks of preschool due to pain and treatment. The Wongs are suing Southwest Airlines for negligence, seeking over $75,000 in damages.

  • Epidemic Of Raccoons Infected With Rabies On Long Island Forced Officials To Distribute Fishy-Smelling Vaccine Baits To Stop Spread

Epidemic Of Raccoons Infected With Rabies On Long Island Forced Officials To Distribute Fishy-Smelling Vaccine Baits To Stop Spread

To combat rising rabies cases among raccoons on Long Island, Nassau County will distribute fishy-smelling bait containing the rabies vaccine in outdoor areas. From April 21 to May 2, a slow-moving government truck will drop these baits in places like Massapequa, Farmingdale, Bethpage, Elmont, Valley Stream, and popular parks and museums, according to the New York Post

Nassau County officials stated that the bait will have a fishy smell to attract raccoons. The vaccines will be contained in clear bags that look like fast-food ketchup packets.

This containment effort follows the discovery of a fourth rabid raccoon in Amityville, near Massapequa in Suffolk County, which tested positive for rabies on April 11.

Suffolk County Department of Health Services Commissioner, Dr. Gregson Pigott, said, “We are very concerned that rabies is spreading along our western border.. We are exploring options to curtail further spread, including the deployment of oral rabies vaccine for the raccoon population.”
