  • California Approves ‘Toilet-to-Tap’ Initiative Where ‘Treated Wastewater’ Is Recycled Back Into The Home

California Approves ‘Toilet-to-Tap’ Initiative Where ‘Treated Wastewater’ Is Recycled Back Into The Home

California officials have given the green light to new regulations known as

    “toilet-to-tap”,

which permit water agencies to recycle wastewater from homes and redistribute it back to households, according to the NY Post

The aim is to address the state’s dwindling water supply. Despite initial concerns from consumers, officials have assured the public that the process is safe, as the wastewater undergoes three rigorous stages of treatment. The water is thoroughly treated to eliminate pathogens and viruses, and minerals are even added back to enhance its taste.

“It will truly be the highest quality water delivered in the state when it’s done,”

said Darrin Polhemus, director of the Division of Drinking Water and the State Water Resources Control Board.

California is notorious for its droughts and relies on water from other states via the Colorado River. However, in 2023, the state experienced an unusually high level of rainfall, resulting in over 99% freedom from drought by October. Although recycled water may be more expensive than imported water, it offers a more sustainable and reliable supply, as per CalMatters.

California becomes the second state, following Colorado, to adopt this approach. While recycled water has been used for decades in California for irrigation purposes, this marks the first time it will be directly utilized for drinking water.

The construction of treatment facilities is a costly and time-consuming effort, so larger cities like San Diego and Silicon Valley/Bay Area, with ample funding, are expected to be among the first to transition. Officials estimate that nearly half of San Diego’s water supply will come from recycled sources by 2035.

“Drought happens all the time and with climate change, it will only get worse,”

Kirsten Struve with the Santa Clara Valley Water District told ABC.

“This is a drought-resistant supply that we will need in the future to meet the demands of our communities.”

  • McDonald’s Shuts Down Following Customer’s Report Of A Crack Pipe Discovered In Their Breakfast Order

McDonald’s Shuts Down Following Customer’s Report Of A Crack Pipe Discovered In Their Breakfast Order

A McDonald’s restaurant in Ohio was shut down by health inspectors after a customer reported finding a crack pipe in their drive-thru breakfast order, the NY Post reported.

The incident was first brought to light by an anonymous customer who shared the disturbing discovery on Reddit. The customer promptly returned to the store to inform a manager, expressing concern that the item could have

“ended up in [a child’s] Happy Meal.”

Rather than accepting a refund, the customer decided to report the incident to Franklin County Public Health.

Following an inspection, health inspectors discovered several health code violations during ongoing construction at the location, leading to its closure on Wednesday. Construction workers came in and out of the restaurant, leaving

“construction dust on surfaces of food preparation counters, equipment, and flooring,”

the inspectors’ report noted, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

“Beverage service equipment such as soda dispenser, frappuccino machine, frozen beverage dispenser, coffee machine had dust, debris, screws, unassembled computer equipment, wooden trim pieces on the top surfaces,”

    the report states.

“There was no protective barrier between the construction area and the food service area,”

the report claims — with cellphones left on the grill.

As a result, the restaurant was closed and given until January 4th to address these violations. The franchise owner, Alex Mendoza, stated that the closure was due to the construction-related dust issue and not related to the inspection prompted by the crack pipe report.

“As a local business owner, the safety of my customers and crew is my first priority, and we take this very seriously,”

    Mendoza told the Dispatch.

“We have no indication that the [crack pipe] came from our restaurant but are continuing to investigate and have contacted local law enforcement to report the matter.”

  • Three Men Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Hundred Of Gallons Of Used Cooking Oil Worth Thousands Of Dollars’, Police Say

Three Men Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Hundred Of Gallons Of Used Cooking Oil Worth Thousands Of Dollars’, Police Say

Three men have been arrested charged with grand theft for allegedly stealing cooking oil from various restaurants, reports Fox News

Port Orange Police Department successfully tracked down the three individuals on December 16, 2023. The suspects were believed to be specifically focusing on restaurants in the vicinity during the late-night hours.

The suspects, Rui Lin, a 49-year-old resident of St. Johns, Florida; Yunqiu Chen, a 35-year-old resident of St. Augustine, Florida; and Zengyu Liu, a 42-year-old resident of Flushing, New York.

The men carried out their alleged operation using a large box truck equipped with a pump. They would back the truck up to a restaurant, roll out a hose, and extract used cooking oil, reports reveal.

According to law enforcement officials, approximately 330 gallons of cooking oil were stolen. Police suspect these same individuals may be connected to a larger criminal organization responsible for more stolen oil in the area.

All three individuals have been charged with grand theft. Lin was also previously arrested in Flagler County, Florida, last year for a similar incident.

Athens-Clarke County Police Department Lt. Jody Thompson told Fox 5 Atlanta at the time that theft of the oil, sometimes called

    “yellow grease,”

    is

    “not uncommon.”

“It can be refined and sold, and it can be used as fuel,”

he said of the oil’s value.

“There are several different markets for the oil that recyclers can utilize.”

  • Court To Release Dozens Of Documents Revealing Jeffrey Epstein’s Victims and Associates In 2024, Reports Say

Court To Release Dozens Of Documents Revealing Jeffrey Epstein’s Victims and Associates In 2024, Reports Say

A federal judge in New York has ordered the release of court documents to be made public in 2024 that will reveal the names of individuals associated with Jeffrey Epstein, according to Huff Post

The documents are part of a lawsuit involving Epstein’s former partner Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a prison sentence for sex trafficking. Epstein, who was awaiting trial for his own sex trafficking charges, died by suicide in 2019.

Judge Loretta Preska stated that anyone who objects to their name being released has 14 days to appeal the decision. The list of names will include various individuals mentioned in a defamation lawsuit against Maxwell by Virginia Giuffre, who accused Maxwell of recruiting her as a teenager for Epstein’s sexual activities.

The list could potentially include co-conspirators and victims of Epstein. However, some names will remain sealed or redacted to protect the privacy of alleged minor victims of sexual abuse who have not spoken publicly. While the list may include public figures such as former Presidents Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, as well as attorney Alan Dershowitz, many of the associations between these individuals and Epstein have already been widely reported in the media.

Epstein faced federal charges for the sex trafficking of minors in Florida and New York before his death. All criminal charges against him were dismissed following his suicide.

  • Tupac Shakur Suspect, Keffe D, Admits To Fabricating His Alleged Involvement In The Rapper’s Murder In Exchange For Money

Tupac Shakur Suspect, Keffe D, Admits To Fabricating His Alleged Involvement In The Rapper’s Murder In Exchange For Money

Keffe D, a suspect in the murder of Tupac Shakur, recently admitted to lying about his alleged involvement in the rapper’s death, reports Radar Online

In a bail request, Keffe D, a 60-year-old member of the Crips, asked for his bail to be set at $100,000. According to his bail application, Keffe D claimed that he made false statements about the murder for

    “entertainment purposes”

and to profit from the case. His lawyers also referenced Suge Knight’s recent interview with TMZ, where the incarcerated Death Row Records co-founder discussed Shakur’s murder.

“The most compelling evidence that Duane was not involved in the murder of Shakur comes from the mouth of the surviving victim and only living eyewitness, Marion ‘Suge’ Knight,”

Keffe D’s lawyers wrote in the suspect’s bail application this month.

In a recent interview with TMZ, Suge Knight stated that Orlando Anderson, who is the nephew of suspect Keffe D, was not responsible for shooting and killing Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in September 1996.

“It wasn’t Anderson, that’s all I have to say about that,”

    Knight said.

After discovering that LAPD detective Greg Kading was making money from the case, Keffe D revealed that he chose to write a book called

    “Compton Street Legend”

and share his story through YouTube interviews regarding Shakur’s murder.

“Duane decided to become involved with the publishing of the book Compton Street Legend and to give interviews for money after watching Greg Kading profit from the situation,”

    Keffe D’s lawyers wrote.

“It has not been established which parts of the book, if any, Duane wrote,”

    they added.

  • TikToker Says She Dumped Boyfriend After Finding Out He Doesn’t Use Toilet Paper

TikToker Says She Dumped Boyfriend After Finding Out He Doesn’t Use Toilet Paper

A TikTok user recently shared a disturbing story about her ex-boyfriend’s bathroom habits. Alexandra Maria Clara, who resides in Tampa, Florida, recounted her experience with her unhygienic former partner in a viral video that has garnered over 900,000 views on the platform.

In the video, Clara revealed that while using the bathroom at her ex-boyfriend’s house, she discovered that there wasn’t any toilet paper in sight. Concerned, she brought the issue to his attention, and he appeared willing to address the problem.

“I said, ‘Hey, you don’t have any toilet paper,”‘

    said Clara.

“And he was like, “Oh sorry,” and I was like, ‘It’s fine.’ For the moment it was OK because I always carry tissues in my purse.”

    She added,

“So I was like, ‘Make sure you pick some up when you go to the supermarket.’ And he was like, ‘Thanks for reminding me, cool,’ or whatever.”

However, when Clara visited her ex-boyfriend’s place a week later, she discovered that he had not replenished the bathroom essential. Once again, she promptly brought it to his attention, but he claimed to have simply

    “forgotten.”

It wasn’t until they went to the store to buy snacks together that Clara realized her boyfriend didn’t believe in using toilet paper at all.

“We go to Target and I’m like, ‘Oh, while we’re here let’s get some toilet paper,’ Maria Clara described. This man dead–ss looks me in the eye and says, ‘I’m not gonna do that.’”

    She continued,

“And I said, ‘Why?’ and he goes, ‘Because I don’t use toilet paper.’ So I went, ‘What do you use?”

    And he goes,

    “I use wet wipes.’”

When Clara asked what she should use when visiting his house, he suggested she use

    “wet wipes”

    instead.

Clara decided to start bringing her own toilet paper when she went over to her beau’s house but that quickly ended when the boyfriend started mocking Clara’s paper stash. Clara later broke it off with the anti-toilet paper activist.

  • Nike Air Jordan 3 Belonging To Spike Lee Discovered In Donation Bin Could Sell For $20K At Auction

Nike Air Jordan 3 Belonging To Spike Lee Discovered In Donation Bin Could Sell For $20K At Auction

A pair of Nike Air Jordan 3 sneakers, originally created for filmmaker Spike Lee, has been found in a donation bin at a shelter and is now up for auction at Sotheby’s, per the NY Post.

The sneakers, valued at over $10,000, were worn by Lee at the 2019 Academy Awards, where he won an Oscar for his screenplay

    “BlacKkKlansmen.”

The discovery was made by a formerly homeless man participating in a program at the Burnside Shelter of Portland Rescue Mission, a nonprofit organization.

“Obviously they must be fakes, we thought, because why would the real thing end up in our donation bins?”

said Erin Holcomb, Portland Rescue Mission’s director of human resources, on the nonprofit’s blog.

“But I knew I should perform due diligence before putting the sneakers back on our distribution shelves.”

The shoes were taken to a resale shop in downtown Portland, where its owner explained they were owned by Lee and were

“some of the most rare and collectible shoes on the market.”

Immediately, he offered the woman $10,000 to purchase the items for his store.

Holcomb contacted Sotheby’s who generously offered to sell them without a fee. The current highest bid is $9,500.

To authenticate the shoes, Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, visited the shelter and confirmed their pristine condition.

“I’m thrilled the shoes ended up here,”

Hatfield said in a statement shared by the Portland Rescue Mission.

“It’s a happy ending to a really great project.”

  • Lawsuit Filed Against Boston Public School After 9-Year-Old Girl Endures Repeated Rape and Assault On School Bus By Fellow Student

Lawsuit Filed Against Boston Public School After 9-Year-Old Girl Endures Repeated Rape and Assault On School Bus By Fellow Student

The family of a 9-year-old girl who was allegedly assaulted and raped multiple times by another student on a Boston school bus has filed a lawsuit against Boston Public Schools, reports Boston 25 News.

The lawsuit, which was filed by Morgan & Morgan in Suffolk Superior Court, also includes the City of Boston, Match Charter School, and a Transdev bus driver and monitor as defendants. According to the lawsuit, the girl, who is a student at Match Charter Public School in Hyde Park, endured repeated sexual assault and rape by an 11-year-old student over seven months during the 2022-2023 school year.

“The sexual assaults occurred on diverse dates over seven months and were committed by another 11-year-old student,”

    the lawsuit stated.

“The sexual assaults took place just a few feet from the bus monitor and the bus driver on the ride home after school from the Match Charter Public School.”

The lawyers at Morgan & Morgan say that the young girl had to leave school early out of fear of facing further physical or social consequences.

“Our client will experience a childhood haunted by trauma and flashbacks, and we will do everything in our power to hold the defendants accountable and prevent anything like this from happening to another child in our city.”

The lawsuit also alleges that the Transdev bus driver and monitor

“either knew, or reasonably should have known, of the repeated and ongoing sexual abuse,”

    and that they had a

“duty to identify, intervene, and take steps to end and report the abuse as well as to take reasonable steps to prevent it from reoccurring.”

The lawsuit further alleges that Transdev and/or its co-defendants

“negligently, recklessly, and/or intentionally lost or destroyed video footage”

    from the bus.

  • Father Battles For Custody Of Daughter After Mother Claims Child Died At Birth and Secretly Put Baby Up For Adoption

Father Battles For Custody Of Daughter After Mother Claims Child Died At Birth and Secretly Put Baby Up For Adoption

A father in Florida is engaged in a custody battle for his daughter, who he was initially told had died at birth by the child’s mother. However, he later discovered that the baby had been put up for adoption without his knowledge, Daily Mail reports.

Brandon Marteliz, has been engaged in a custody battle since discovering that his daughter, Amiya, was alive and well.

In Florida, a judge ruled in October that Marteliz’s consent for adoption wasn’t required, as he hadn’t supported the baby. The appeal time has lapsed, and 2-year-old Amiya stays with her adoptive parents.

Marteliz said the day of his daughter’s birth he received a text message from the mother, informing him that their child had died from sudden infant death syndrome. He reportedly lost contact with the mother for around three weeks. Marteliz was mentioned as a

“man who may have interest in the minor child”

in the legal filings, but he soon discovered that his daughter was under the care of the Heart of Adoptions, a private agency in Florida.

Because Marteliz and the mother were not married, his parental rights were not required at the time of the adoption. He was not listed on the baby’s birth certificate, and he had not registered as a putative father, which would have given him legal rights as an unmarried father.

In the same month that his daughter was born, Marteliz registered and filed a petition to establish paternity for his child.

“I am willing to do whatever it takes to be given custody of my daughter and be in her life. I am willing to pay whatever form or support or cost it takes,”

    he told the outlet.

In May 2021, it was stated by Marteliz during the court proceedings that he had not been informed about the mother’s adoption decision.

He also denied the claim that he did not provide financial support during the pregnancy.

“There’s a lot of fathers out there that are being robbed, that are good dads, that would — that are great dads. Something needs to be done about this.”
