A McDonald’s restaurant in Ohio was shut down by health inspectors after a customer reported finding a crack pipe in their drive-thru breakfast order, the NY Post reported.

The incident was first brought to light by an anonymous customer who shared the disturbing discovery on Reddit. The customer promptly returned to the store to inform a manager, expressing concern that the item could have

“ended up in [a child’s] Happy Meal.”

Rather than accepting a refund, the customer decided to report the incident to Franklin County Public Health.

Following an inspection, health inspectors discovered several health code violations during ongoing construction at the location, leading to its closure on Wednesday. Construction workers came in and out of the restaurant, leaving

“construction dust on surfaces of food preparation counters, equipment, and flooring,”

the inspectors’ report noted, according to the Columbus Dispatch.

“Beverage service equipment such as soda dispenser, frappuccino machine, frozen beverage dispenser, coffee machine had dust, debris, screws, unassembled computer equipment, wooden trim pieces on the top surfaces,”

the report states.

“There was no protective barrier between the construction area and the food service area,”

the report claims — with cellphones left on the grill.

As a result, the restaurant was closed and given until January 4th to address these violations. The franchise owner, Alex Mendoza, stated that the closure was due to the construction-related dust issue and not related to the inspection prompted by the crack pipe report.

“As a local business owner, the safety of my customers and crew is my first priority, and we take this very seriously,”

Mendoza told the Dispatch.

“We have no indication that the [crack pipe] came from our restaurant but are continuing to investigate and have contacted local law enforcement to report the matter.”
