5-Year-Old Boy Allegedly Had Cocaine In His System Before Fatally Shooting His 16-Month-Older Brother, Parents Charged

A 5-year-old Indiana boy who fatally shot his baby brother was reportedly high on cocaine at the time of the shooting. Medical examiners also found marijuana in the victim’s system, prosecutors said per the NY Post

The boys’ parents, Deonta Jermaine Johnson, 27, and Shatia Tiara Welch, 24 were hit with additional charges for neglect and drugs, Tuesday. Police obtained

“93 fentanyl pills as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia”

    inside the couple’s apartment.

Their 16-month-old son died from a gunshot wound to the head after his older brother retrieved a loose gun from the residence. Johnson told police he was napping on the couch and

    “heard a boom”

sound before discovering his 16-month-old boy dead, according to a probable cause affidavit. The mother admitted that the firearm was hers but said she usually kept it in a locked box under her bed.

Prosecutors revealed that the deceased toddler had marijuana in his system, along with his brother who also tested positive for cocaine.

    Johnson was also charged with

    “obstruction of justice”

for allegedly attempting to scrub the apartment of weed before police arrived, according to the outlet. Welch was also brought up on charges four weeks before the fatal shooting, for

“possessing and dealing narcotics and marijuana,”

which is reportedly illegal for medical and recreational use in Indiana, court records reveal.

  • Son Stole $70K From His Grieving Dad By Putting On Deceased Mom’s Voice To Transfer Funds To His Account

Son Stole $70K From His Grieving Dad By Putting On Deceased Mom’s Voice To Transfer Funds To His Account

Police arrested a man they say stole $70,000 from his grieving dad by posing as his deceased mother to transfer funds, per the NY Post

Daniel Cuthbert, 42, is accused of withdrawing and transferring money from his father’s accounts to his account over 14 months. Cuthbert allegedly pretended to be his deceased mother by

    “[putting] on a female voice”

to authorize transfers on several occasions. In some instances, he would also pose as his father during his phone calls to the bank.

When his father noticed the missing money from his account he confronted Cuthbert however, the father, overwhelmed with grief, overlooked his son’s iniquity. In 2018, the dad received a visit from the United Kingdom buildings society which notified him that he was on the verge of losing his property because of his debts. The Northamptonshire Police’s Volume Fraud team opened an investigation into the case and Cuthbert was arrested.

“This was a really despicable abuse of trust by this man who falsely represented his father and even his late mother, in order to defraud them out of more than £56,000 [$73,384],”

Sergeant Mike Rogers told South West News Service.

According to the outlet, Cuthbert also took out loans in his father’s name, which later caused him to lose his home, due to the amount of debt piled up.

“This was a complex investigation, but due to some excellent work by the lead investigator, Cuthbert has been jailed and will now have plenty of time to reflect on his actions,”

    Rogers said.

“We hope this brings some closure to the victim who was put through a horrendous ordeal by his son only months after losing his wife.”

  • Father Seeks Advice After Learning That His 13-Year-Old Son Is A Sex Offender, Says He Is Scared To Get Him Professional Help

Father Seeks Advice After Learning That His 13-Year-Old Son Is A Sex Offender, Says He Is Scared To Get Him Professional Help

A father is in a dilemma and has revealed some shocking news in a Facebook parenting group this week as he called for advice. The anonymous man wrote a post in the group revealing that his 13-year-old son is a

    “repeat sex offender”

while admitting that he didn’t know how to

    “handle it.”

“Last year, I won full physical custody of my son when he was nearly 12 and I’ve had him a little over a year now. Before [getting custody from his mother], I had spoken with his school, and long story short, they said he was very disrespectful and out of control. He nearly got himself expelled for threatening another child with a hypothetical gun he allegedly had in his backpack,”

    the father wrote.

The father went on to say that he has been witnessing odd actions from his son, which include him watching

    “violent porn”

in front of his friends and little brother. The father also noticed his son making nasty comments to relatives.

    He gave an example, revealing,

“He would make [remarks] about my mum’s breasts and let her know when he had a boner.”

    The father added,

“About three days ago, [a friend of my son] told me my son raped [a] girl. She told me that the girl told her that my son put his privates in her butt. I went and got my son and asked the girl to repeat it while he was standing there and she told him the same thing and without any sign of remorse he just simply denied it with a blank stare.”

His son’s younger brother admitted that his brother raped the girl and revealed that he threatened to murder him if he told.

The minor victim informed the father

“He did things to me and hurt my feelings.”

The father admitted that he is concerned his son will be reported and go to jail if he seeks help. However, many people chimed in and offered advice. One person commented,

“You can’t change his behavior, he needs serious help.”

  • Man Accused 9-Year-Old Biological Female Athlete of Being Trans and Demanded Her Disqualification From Competition

Man Accused 9-Year-Old Biological Female Athlete of Being Trans and Demanded Her Disqualification From Competition

A 9-year-old girl, who runs track and field, was scolded by her competitor’s grandfather who accused her of being transgender and demanded she be disqualified, according to local news outlet Castanet

The child’s mother, who has chosen to keep her child’s identity anonymous, told Castanet that her daughter was competing in a shot put event at Kelowna’s Apple Bowl in British Columbia, Canada. Then suddenly one of the participant’s grandfathers started yelling at the young girl.

“Right before she went to throw, a grandfather of a student said, ‘Hey, this is supposed to be a girls’ event, and why are you letting boys compete,’”

said one mother who witnessed the events.

The girl’s mother explained that her daughter is cisgender, which means she was assigned female at birth and still identifies as a girl. She added that her daughter also wears a pixie haircut and that the man also yelled at another girl with short hair.

The man kept repeating that the child was

    “definitely trans”

and demanded she is disqualified from competing in the school competition, according to a Facebook post shared by Starr. The man also insisted that the child show proof that she is indeed a girl, the post added.

    The incident left the girl

    “visibly shaking and sobbing,”

said Starr, according to The Post.

The superintendent of Central Okanagan School District, Kevin Kaardal, told Castanet that the man’s actions were

    “totally unacceptable”

    and that

“the district is taking steps to ensure that the man cannot attend future school events,”

reports state. The local police service, Kelowna RCMP, announced that they are also investigating the incident.

  • U.K. Becomes First Country to Introduce ‘Three-Parent Babies,’ Baby Receives DNA From Three People

U.K. Becomes First Country to Introduce ‘Three-Parent Babies,’ Baby Receives DNA From Three People

The first baby to be created with DNA from three people has been born in the UK after doctors successfully executed an IVF procedure that intends to save children from

    “inheriting incurable diseases,”

    reports The Guardian

The pioneering procedure is known as mitochondrial donation treatment which allows female donors to provide IVF embryos that are

    “free from harmful mutations”

to mothers who suffer from mutated mitochondria, which can possibly be passed down to their children.

The donor contributes tissue from their egg which is combined with the sperm and egg of the biological parents. According to the outlet, the baby will have the DNA from the mother and father as well as a small amount of

“genetic material – about 37 genes,”

    from the donor.

“The nuclear genetic material from the donor’s egg is then removed and replaced with that from the couple’s fertilized egg. The resulting egg has a full set of chromosomes from both parents, but carries the donor’s healthy mitochondria instead of the mother’s faulty ones. This is then implanted in the womb,”

researchers from the Newcastle clinic revealed.

The process has taken on the phrase

    “three-parent babies”,

though more than 99.8% of the DNA in the babies are still coming from the biological parents.

“So far, the clinical experience with MRT has been encouraging, but the number of reported cases is far too small to draw any definitive conclusions about the safety or efficacy,”

said Dagan Wells, a professor of reproductive genetics at the University of Oxford who took part in the research.

“Long-term follow-up of the children born is essential. The stage of development when reversal happens is unclear, but it probably occurs at a very early stage. This means that prenatal testing, carried out [at] about 12 weeks of pregnancy, may well succeed in identifying if reversal has occurred.”
