Seattle Man Sentenced To Over 46 Years In Prison After Fatally Shooting Tenants And Stuffing Their Bodies Into Suitcases

A Seattle landlord who murdered two of his tenants, dismembered them, and dumped their remains into the ocean, was sentenced to more than 46 years in prison, Fox 13 Seattle reported.

On June 19th, 2020, a group of teenagers noticed suitcases that had washed up on Alki Beach in Seattle, Washington. When the teens approached them, they were hit with the smell of decomposing bodies, and they immediately notified authorities. After deputies from the King County Sheriff’s Office arrived, the suitcases were opened, and human remains were discovered. Three days later, deputies found another suitcase in a nearby waterway containing more the same.

The remains were identified as that of 35-year-old Jessica Lewis and her partner 27-year-old Austin Wenner. According to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, the couple had died from multiple gunshot wounds June 9th, ten days before their remains were discovered.

A thorough investigation led detectives to 64-year-old Michael Dudley, the victims’ landlord. Though police never located the murder weapon, the suitcases containing the remains of Lewis and Wenner were later determined to have belonged to Dudley. His cell phone data also placed him near the vicinity of Alki Beach the day before the suitcases were discovered.

After being found guilty of two counts of second-degree murder in December of last year, Dudley has finally been sentenced to 560 months in prison.

“We will not let this monster take away our lives too,” Wenner’s mother said after learning Dudley’s fate. “We are going to go on in Austin’s memory and Jessica’s memory.”

YouTuber Shot In Abdomen While Filming Prank Video In Virginia Shopping Mall

A Virginia content creator was shot over the weekend while attempting to film a practical joke for his prank-themed YouTube channel, Law And Crime reports.

On Sunday, April 2nd, 21-year-old Tanner Cook was being filmed inside the Dulles Town Center shopping mall, when he approached a man who was not interested in participating in their joke. Rather than asking to not be filmed, the suspect responded by shooting Cook in the torso.

“They were making a video at the mall and trying to have fun with people and this guy wasn’t having fun,” explained Jeramy Cook, the victim’s father. “There was a phone that was around him, and they were interviewing or talking to him, and he didn’t like it and he pulled out his gun and shot my son.”

As Cook was transported to a nearby hospital to be treated for his injuries, deputies from the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office arrested Alan W. Colie. The 31-year-old is now facing charges of aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a building.

Cook underwent surgery to repair his liver and stomach, and currently remains in the hospital, where he is expected to fully recover. Despite his injuries, he intends to continue filming for videos for his YouTube channel once he’s back to full health. Due to the investigation, the footage of the encounter has been handed over to investigators.

  • Alabama Police Officer Indicted After Fatally Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend And Saying She Committed Suicide

Alabama Police Officer Indicted After Fatally Shooting Pregnant Girlfriend And Saying She Committed Suicide

An Alabama police officer is now facing murder charges after fatally shooting his pregnant girlfriend in the head, and telling dispatchers that she had committed suicide, the New York Post reported.

In January of 2022, Huntsville police officer David McCoy began arguing with his girlfriend and mom-to-be Courtney Spraggins while sitting in her car outside his apartment. According to text messages found on the 29-year-old’s phone, Spraggins wanted to move in with McCoy so that the couple could raise their baby together, but McCoy was already in a relationship with another woman who was living with him. Weeks prior to the shooting, he allegedly told the victim he “needed more time.” When Spraggins asked McCoy what she should do in the meantime, the suspect responded coldly, “A bullet to the head sounds good to me.”

On January 7th, McCoy called the non-emergency police number to see if there were any reports of gunshots fired. He then reported that he had woken up to the sound of a shot from a small-caliber gun. Minutes after, officers arrived to the scene and discovered Spraggins dead from a gunshot wound in the driver’s seat of her vehicle. When investigators question McCoy, he told them “I think I’ve seen her once” and that it seemed like she had committed suicide.

After a photo of him was found inside Spraggins’ vehicle, McCoy’s apartment was searched, and he was brought in for further questioning. Inside, police discovered Spraggins’ phone with the text messages that indicated what led to the incident, and the murder weapon. McCoy also tested positive for gunshot residue.

On March 24th, McCoy was indicted on capital murder charges. The former police officer is now facing multiple charges, including killing a person inside a car, killing a person and her unborn child, and killing a person under 14 (the unborn child). He is scheduled to appear in court on April 4th.

  • Mayor Of Miami Beach Imposes Curfew After Weekend Shootings: “We Don’t Want Spring Break”

Mayor Of Miami Beach Imposes Curfew After Weekend Shootings: “We Don’t Want Spring Break”

The mayor of Miami Beach has announced a city-wide curfew after two fatal shootings occurred over the weekend, The Hill reported.

On Friday night, at around 10:40 P.M., a shooting occurred, sending two people to a nearby hospital. One later died from his injuries while the other continues to be in a critical condition. Early Sunday morning, at about 3:30 A.M., another shooting occurred, leaving one man dead and the other severely wounded. Though police have confirmed that the two incidents were “targeted and isolated,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber announced a curfew as the popular spring break destination has an influx of out-of-city visitors.

“While most may come here to enjoy the amenities of Miami Beach, the overwhelming volume of visitors, a few that come with bad intentions in the presence of guns creates a wholly intolerable situation,” Gelber said in a video message to residents.

The curfew will start at 11:59 P.M., and end at 6 A.M. this Thursday through Monday. The curfew will require businesses to close by midnight, but will not apply to those traveling back and forth from work nor the residents of the city going to or from their homes. Hotels can remain open only for those who are guests.

“As I’ve said many times, we don’t ask for spring break in our city,” Gelber explained. “We don’t want spring break in our city. It’s too rowdy, brings too much disorder, and it’s simply too difficult to police.”

In the early hours of Thursday morning, residents of an apartment complex notified police about a loud domestic dispute that was occurring their building in Edmonton, Alberta. • Brooklyn Rapper Troy Ave Testifies Against Taxstone In 2016 Shooting Trial

Brooklyn Rapper Troy Ave Testifies Against Taxstone In 2016 Shooting Trial

In 2016, a fight between Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave and hiphop podcaster Taxtone resulted in the fatal shooting of Troy Ave’s body guard and friend, Ronald “Banga” McPhatter. On Monday, Troy Ave finally testified in court about the life or death struggle that transpired between the two, The Jasmine Brand reported.

According to Troy Ave, the two wrestled one another to reach a handgun, but Taxtone was able to get to it first. The Brooklyn rapper says that’s when he was shot in both legs.

“When the shot goes off, I see the light from the spark and I hear the shot,” Troy Ave explained. “This is all happening fast. I get up and start fighting Taxstone, trying to take him, grab the gun, and another shot goes off. I put my leg up to kind of block the shot from hitting me in the face or chest.”

After the shots were fired, the two continued to fight and Troy Ave was finally able to grab the firearm. As Taxtone fled the scene, the weapon misfired. The rapper then realized that his friend and security guard was lying face down on the floor.

“I rolled his body over and I’m like, ‘Banga, get up. Come on,’” he recalled. “I’m smacking him, and his eyes were rolling to the back of his head. His shirt was red, so I could tell he got shot.”

Initially, Troy was charged with attempted murder and gun possession for his part in the incident, but is now currently on trial for murder, attempted murder, assault, and possession of firearms. In exchange for his testimony, prosecutors offered Troy Ave a one-year sentence, as opposed to the 15 years he could have faced.
