Kevin Durant Calls Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show ‘Boring’

Kevin Durant was not impressed by Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime Show on Sunday and expressed it in not so many words. The basketball player known for his love and loyalty to Drake called Lamar’s performance uninspiring. Although many people share his opinion, Durant’s affinity for all things Drake may have also colored his view, considering the ongoing, bitter feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
Kevin Durant Calls Super Bowl Halftime Show ‘Boring’

Kevin Durant was out on Monday night when reporters asked for his thoughts on this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. Durant responded that the Super Bowl itself and the Halftime Show were underwhelming in all regards. He told The Arizona Republic that the Super Bowl Halftime Show, where Kendrick Lamar performed his hit diss track, Not Like Us, “meant nothing” to him. “I didn’t really pay attention to it to be honest,” he said. He also revealed that he tuned out of the game by halftime.

    He continued:

“It was a pretty boring day as far as a Super Bowl. Game got out of hand, Super Bowl Halftime show- I didn’t pay attention to it.”

Kevin Durant is not alone in his opinion. The 2025 Super Bowl lacked its usual energy and competition despite its PR as the “holy grail” of North American athletics events. The game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs lost its flair in the first half when the Eagles led 24-0, culminating in their 40-22 win in the second half.

Kevin Durant Is A Huge Drake Fan

Meanwhile, Kevin Durant’s view of Kendrick Lamar’s Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show may be due to more than a disappointing game or “boring” performance. Fans believe that his comments stemmed from his friendship with Drake. Durant supported the rapper through his feud with Lamar and a lawsuit against Universal Music Group and Spotify. When Drake accused the two entities of artificially inflating the Pulitzer Prize winner’s track, Not Like Us, Durant showed his support On Instagram.

He posted a screenshot of a line in the rapper’s 30 for 30 Freestyle on his Stories, where he rapped, “When the higher-ups have come together as a collective/With conspiracies to end my run and send me a message/40, did you get the message?” Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards also confirmed Durant’s love for Drake’s music when he revealed that he only listened to Drake during the Paris Summer Olympics. Meanwhile, the love is mutual as Drake has a tattoo of Kevin Durant’s number on his arm.

Kendrick Lamar’s Controversial Super Bowl Halftime Show

Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show has divided many. Shortly after his performance, many went online to express their disappointment over an underwhelming show. Some called it one of the “worst” halftime shows in history. However, others believe that the rapper didn’t perform to entertain but sent a message, which may have been lost on those who called the show boring. Meanwhile, some believe that Lamar could have left his beef with Drake out of the show.

They opined that dissing the latter during the Halftime Show watered his message. Kendrick Lamar took a bold step by performing Not Like Us and naming Drake right into the cameras. He also delivered two lines that refer to Drake as a pedophile without him saying the word. “Say Drake, I hear you like them young” and “trying to strike a chord and it’s probably a minor,” he said. Lamar also brought Drake’s former love interest, Serena Williams, out on stage to crip walk when he performed the song.

Kevin Durant’s opinion on Kendrick Lamar’s performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show is valid. Nevertheless, Lamar’s performance continues gaining traction online over the Super Bowl itself, with positive and negative reactions.

  • Snoop Dogg Faces More Backlash For Doing Super Bowl Ad With Tom Brady After Performing For Donald Trump

Snoop Dogg Faces More Backlash For Doing Super Bowl Ad With Tom Brady After Performing For Donald Trump

Snoop Dogg’s Super Bowl ad has incited an unintended response. The rapper appeared with Tom Brady to perform an ad in one of the coveted halftime ad slots to speak against hate. However, given Snoop Dogg’s performance at Donald Trump’s inauguration in January, fans were not receptive to their message. They opined that the record producer was not the right person to speak against hate, considering his support for an individual known to have championed hate.

Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady Appear In Super Bowl Ad

Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady championed the advocacy against hate in an ad during the Super Bowl on Sunday, February 9. The “Stand Up to All Hate” advertisement was powered by the Foundation to Combat Antisemitism, backed by Robert Kraft, the New England Patriots owner whom Brady once played for. In the ad, the stars exchanged “I hate you” opening statements in quick succession. Snoop said:

“I hate you because I don’t understand you,” while Brady responded, “I hate you ’cause you look different.”

After their exchange, the screen went black, and a text appeared. It read:

“The reasons for hate are as stupid as they sound.”

The Super Bowl ad cut back to the rapper, who said:

“Man, I hate that things are so bad that we have to make a commercial about it.”

Tom Brady agreed, saying, “Me too.” The duo then turned and walked away.

Fans Surprised At Snoop Dogg Choice For Super Bowl Ad

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady’s ad angered many people because they supported Donald Trump. The two-time President has made antisemitic, homophobic, racist, and xenophobic statements in the past. Thus, they believed the duo were unfit to speak against hate. Snoop especially came under fire because he had just performed at Trump’s inauguration despite his criticism of black artists who did the same in 2016.

The next year, he stirred controversy by pretending to shoot a life-like clown replica of Trump in his BadBadNotGood song remix. Snoop also doubled down on his decision to perform at Trump’s inauguration ball and told naysayers and trolls who criticized him to mind their business. He said, “Get your life right. Stop worrying about mine.” Hence, fans were shocked that he was the spokesperson against hate. Brady also had his share of criticism because he supported Trump in 2015.

    Fans Criticize Snoop Dogg

Several people took to X, formerly Twitter, to call out Snoop Dogg for participating in the No Hate Super Bowl ad.

“This was the dumbest commercial of the Super Bowl,” one declared.

“If Snoop Dog wanted to stand up to hate, he shouldn’t have sold out and performed at Trump’s inauguration,” someone wrote.

    A second person said:

“Snoop Dogg lost the right to be a part of a commercial denouncing hate when he took money to perform for Trump.”

    A third person remarked:

“Snoop Dogg doing a commercial about speaking out against hate while also being the man who performed for the enforcer of hate is WILD!!!!”

    A fourth fan commented:

“The audacity of Snoop Dogg doing an anti hate ad after who he just performed for?”

“That Tom Brady and Snoop Dogg commercial was horrible,” another person added.

Robert Kraft Did Super Bowl Ad To Awaken Love

Meanwhile, Robert Kraft spoke with USA TODAY on why he did the ad with Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady. He mentioned that he doesn’t “recognize parts of this nation. I don’t like where we’re headed,” He said, adding:

“I’m worried about our country right now. In Germany, it all started with the Jews. Then [the Nazis] went after everyone. What I would say to some Americans is, ‘You’re next.’ Jews, Blacks, Asians, the LGBTQ+ community. It won’t stop with the Jews.”

Kraft continued, “You’re next unless we all stand together,” and revealed that he did the ad because:

“The majority of people in America, who are good people, I think they believe there’s nothing they can do. But there is. What we need is non-Jewish people to stand up to this hate.”

Robert Kraft’s effort to awaken the conscience and desire to restore love with his Super Bowl ad featuring Snoop Dogg and Tom Brady is admirable. Unfortunately, the message is currently being overshadowed by the messengers. Hopefully, people can get the message even if they despise those bearing it.

  • Stephen A Smith Wonders Why A Married Serena Williams Trolled Drake At The Super Bowl Halftime Show

Stephen A Smith Wonders Why A Married Serena Williams Trolled Drake At The Super Bowl Halftime Show

Stephen A Smith doesn’t understand why Serena Williams bothered to troll Drake during the Super Bowl halftime show despite being a married woman. The tennis champion and the rapper dated on and off between 2011 and 2015 before their romance ended sourly. Since then, Drake has sent shots against Williams and her husband. However, Smith didn’t think Williams’s dance was necessary and said he would divorce her if she was married to him.

Stephen A Smith Wants To Divorce Serena Williams

While Serena Williams’ crip dance at the Super Bowl Halftime show won hearts on Sunday night, one person remained unimpressed. Stephen A Smith expressed his disappointment at the sportswoman dancing her heart out during the highly anticipated sports night and wondered why she bothered to do so. Smith said on his First Take podcast on Monday, February 10, that if Williams was his wife, he would have divorced her after her performance.

The ESPN analyst claimed it was a poor look for a woman to diss her ex as it showed she was not over him.

“You could say give her props. If I’m your husband, why are you up there trolling your ex?’ Smith asked. If I’m married and my wife is going to join trolling her ex, go back to his ass, ’cause clearly you don’t belong with me. What you worried about him for and you’re with me? Bye. Bye.”

    Serena Willaims Once Dated Drake

Serena Williams gave many a pleasant surprise when she appeared on the field alongside Kendrick Lamar during his Super Bowl Halftime show. The 43-year-old tennis player came out when Lamar started performing his Not Like Us Drake diss track. Many immediately assumed she was getting back at Drake, whom she dated for a while. The two didn’t part on good terms and since she got married to Alexis Ohanian in 2017, Reddit co-founder, the rapper has not missed any opportunities to troll the couple.

In 2022, he name-dropped Ohanian in his Middle of the Ocean song and called him a “groupie.” Hence, Smith felt Williams was trying to get back at him by performing with his arch-enemy and to his diss track. Meanwhile, Smith’s fellow analyst, Ryan Clark, humorously defended Williams, saying, “If you’re with Serena Williams you’re going to be a kept man anyway.” However, former NFL star Shannon Sharpe pointed out that Ohanian was also a made man, and he is worth an estimated $150 million.

Serena Williams Explains Reason For Super Bowl Halftime Show Dance

Stephen A Smith’s remarks were premised on the notion that Serena Williams danced at Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show to get back at Drake. However, Williams revealed on Instagram that her dance had nothing to do with unresolved tensions with her ex. She said she danced to the Not Like Us diss track as a nod to her historic 2012 dance at the Olympics. The Compton native received heavy backlash for doing the crip walk while celebrating her 2012 Olympics victory.

Williams said of her performance at Lamar’s Super Bowl Halftime show:

“When @kendricklamar and team called and was like ‘we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal.’ ‘I’m like Super Bowl? Are you serious? When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a superbowl? (Never) let’s do it!” She added, “I knew my winning dance after the @olympics would pay off one day. End of story.”

Meanwhile, Serena Williams’s Super Bowl Halftime show has continued to garner worldwide acclaim and praise for the talented professional tennis player. She and her husband also remain unbothered by a few negative comments. Hopefully, she will continue to have fun and be her authentic self.

  • Taylor Swift Confused After Being Booed At Super Bowl

Taylor Swift Confused After Being Booed At Super Bowl

Swifties and celebrities were not the only ones shocked on Sunday, February 9, at the turn of events during the Super Bowl. Taylor Swift herself was shocked when many spectators booed her. Thankfully, her fans and friends have defended her and expressed their continuous love and support for her. Some fans also shared why Taylor Swift could have been booed during Sunday’s explosive game.

Taylor Swift Gets Booed At The Super Bowl

On Sunday, Taylor Swift was in New Orleans to watch the Super Bowl and support her boyfriend, Travis Kelce’s team, The Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs were gunning for their third consecutive win for the Lombardi Trophy against the Philadelphia Eagles. However, the musician who attended last year’s game found the 2025 Super Bowl a bit confusing when a large part of the audience reacted to her presence with opposition.

Although Taylor Swift was not the only celebrity at the event, she was the only one who got booed when she was shown on the jumbotron for the first time. The singer appeared shocked at the response but was gracious in her reaction. With a visibly stunned face, she turned to her friend, Ice Spice, and asked, “Aww, what, what’s going on? The booing incident would mark the night of defeat for Kelce and Swift as the Chiefs suffered a crushing defeat by the Eagles, who won 40-22.

    Celebrities Defend Taylor Swift

Thankfully, Taylor Swift has had many people come to her defense after getting booed by the audience. Many fans and celebrities, including Serena Williams and Flavor Flav, discussed the incident online and defended the singer. Williams, who joined Kendrick Lamar during his performance at halftime for a brief cameo, wrote on X, formerly Twitter, wrote:

“I love you @taylorswift13 don’t listen to those booo!!”

Flav also jumped the horde of Swifties to proclaim that Swift was still a queen in her own right. The rapper, a self-proclaimed “King Swiftie,” suggested that the opposing team’s fans masterminded the situation.

“Eagles fans will boo anyone,,, remember when they booed and attacked Santa Claus,??? SANTA CLAUS!!!” he wrote, referencing the 1968 incident where Philadelphia football fans pelted the Christmas parade star with snowballs.

Fans Explain Why Taylor Swift Was Booed

There have been different theories about why Taylor Swift got booed at the Super Bowl. However, the two popular reasons revolve around the sides she supported. A fan posited that supporters of Donald Trump booed the singer, a theory the President also shared. Trump, who was also at the stadium on Sunday, wrote on Truth Social:

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!”

However, some think the reason is different. They explained that Taylor Swift got booed because she supported the Chiefs against the Philadephia Eagles. Swift was an Eagles fan before she started dating Kelce and switched to supporting the Kansas City Chiefs. The Philly native was vocal about her love for the Eagles before her romance with Kelce. She even name-dropped them in her song, Gold Rush. She also wore their merch several times. Therefore, it is possible that Eagles fans felt betrayed by her shift of allegiance.

Taylor Swift getting booed at the 2025 Super Bowl shows how deep the love for football and loyalty is for many Americans. Thankfully, the singer was a good sport and reacted graciously.

  • Roc Nation CEO Speaks Out On Choosing Kendrick Lamar Instead Of Lil Wayne For Super Bowl Performance

Roc Nation CEO Speaks Out On Choosing Kendrick Lamar Instead Of Lil Wayne For Super Bowl Performance

Desiree Perez, CEO of Roc Nation, is explaining the decision behind selecting Kendrick Lamar as the headliner for the Super Bowl Halftime show. She dismissed suggestions that the choice was intended to undermine Lil Wayne, emphasizing that it was more about reflecting

    “the pulse of the times.”

In a recent interview with NOLA.com, she elaborated on the reasons for choosing Lamar, despite his lack of ties to New Orleans. She told the outlet,

“New Orleans is so rich in culture. We have to take into consideration (that) whoever is going to perform can speak to music culture, regardless of age. It has to nod to real music, regardless of the genre. And Kendrick does that. Kendrick’s richness and culture is really a nod to New Orleans.”

Perez noted that Lil Wayne was indeed considered for the role. She even expressed compassion for the legendary New Orleans rapper when she found out he was disheartened by not being selected.

“Aww…I actually didn’t know he had said that. We love that everybody wants to be on the stage, that we’ve completely changed the conversation to fighting for it versus boycotting. We’ve come a long way.”

Wayne also revealed in a December interview that he spoke to Kendrick Lamar and resolved any issues that existed between them.

“I’ve spoken to him and I wished him all the best and told him he better kill it. He gotta kill it,”

    he said.

According to Perez, the Super Bowl made a lot of changes since Roc Nation joined forces with the NFL. She pointed out that a shift happened after the 2019 Super Bowl in Atlanta.

“The goal was to get the halftime show to be something that artists are excited to perform at,”

    she said.

“How do we make this about the music and the moment, and not about everything else that’s going on around it.”

  • Lil Wayne Tells Kendrick Lamar to “Kill” Super Bowl Halftime Show

Lil Wayne Tells Kendrick Lamar to “Kill” Super Bowl Halftime Show

Lil Wayne is willing to put the past behind and support Kendrick Lamar. The rapper revealed his intentions to embrace the Super Bowl snub and stay friends with Lamar instead. Lil Wayne hoped to perform at the 2025 Super Bowl. Though that didn’t happen, he disclosed that he spoke with Kendrick Lamar and asked him to give his best performance.

Lil Wayne Speaks With Kendrick Lamar About Super Bowl

Rapper Lil Wayne has contacted Kendrick Lamar despite being snubbed for the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime show. The artist revealed this during a December 19 interview with Skip Bayless on his Skip Bayless Show. Wayne shared that although he was still hurt at being passed over for performing at his native New Orleans, he wished Lamar the best. He also disclosed that he talked to Kendrick Lamar and asked him to “kill” his Super Bowl performance.

“I’ve spoken to him, and I wish him all the best,” Wayne said.

“I told him he better kill it,” he shared, while Bayless maintained he was “baffled and angry” that Wayne would not perform on his hometown’s biggest stage. However, his guest admitted that he doesn’t know why he was ignored but believes Lamar is a “perfect” choice. Meanwhile, when Bayless read the lyrics of Lamar’s wacced out murals. Lamar rapped, “I think my hard work let Lil Wayne down. However, Lil Wayne said he had never heard the lyrics and opined that Lamar cared and that he “better kill it.”

Lil Wayne Wants to Be Better

Lil Wayne also expressed how being snubbed in favor of Kendrick Lamar for the 2025 Super Bowl pushed him to improve. He confessed that he self-evaluated after he heard the news. Hence, he told himself, “You ain’t there, you gotta get there.” The Lollipop rapper shared his feelings with his management team and trustworthy people. He said:

“I want to get to the point where I’m undeniable. I want them to walk in there and have 10 other choices and whoever’s in charge says, ‘no, you have to go with him!’”

Meanwhile, Bayless spoke about how it didn’t “make sense” to him that the game would be held at the  Caesars Superdome in the Big Easy, and the Mirror rapper was not selected.

“It just makes no sense to me. I don’t get it… I don’t know,” Bayless said.

However, Wayne was realistic about how he couldn’t control it. He was also honest about still feeling lost about the ordeal. When Bayless asked him if he felt better than when he first heard the news, Wayne said he was not.

Lil Wayne Cried About the Super Bowl Snub

Lil Wayne’s admission is coming a few months after he broke down publicly for not being selected to headline the Super Bowl. On September 13, he posted a video on Instagram. In the clip, he said that hearing Kendrick Lamar would headline the Super Bowl in his hometown instead “broke” him.

“First of all, I want to say forgive me for the delay. I had to get strength enough to do this without breaking,” he said somberly. “That hurt. It hurt a lot. You know what I’m talking about. It hurt a whole lot.”

The iconic rapper blamed himself for keeping his hopes up. He added that he thought nothing would beat performing at the biggest spot in his city. He also thanked his fans, friends, and all who had his back.

“Thanks to all of my peers, my friends, my family, my homies on the sports television and everybody repping me. I really appreciate that, I really do. I feel like I let all of y’all all of y’all down by not getting that opportunity, but I’m working on me and I’m working. So thank you,” he said.

Lil Wayne speaking with and congratulating Kendrick Lamar on getting to headline the Super Bowl is admirable and courageous. Although a collaboration is impossible because of logistics, he will hopefully get a chance to shine on the big stage as he hoped.
