A middle school teacher in Indiana was arrested after students discovered methamphetamine hidden in her hair scrunchie, reports FOX News. Police also found a pouch of clean urine in her pants, which she had brought with her in anticipation of upcoming drug tests.

The incident occurred during a family fun night at Helfrich Park STEM Academy, where Sarah Duncan, a 35-year-old woman and parent of a student, was present. At the end of the event, around 6 p.m., Duncan took pictures with students in a photo booth, as noted in the affidavit.

“Both juveniles stated that Duncan let her hair down for the photo,”

Evansville Police Department officers wrote.

“After the photo, the juveniles cleaned up the area and located a blueish-colored velvet-type scrunchie with a white zipper on the table. They noticed the scrunchie was heavier than a typical scrunchie, they opened the zipper pouch and observed a glass vial that contained a white powdered substance that the two believed to be drugs along with a cut straw with white powder.”

After the students discovered the methamphetamine in the hair scrunchie, they immediately informed another teacher who advised them to throw it away. This teacher secured the scrunchie in her classroom and informed the principal and assistant principal. On the other hand, two janitors reported that after the event, Duncan was seen desperately searching for a hair tie.

Police tested the scrunchie which reportedly tested positive for methamphetamine. Two days later, Duncan went to a clinic for a drug urine screening accompanied by the school’s deputy chief of staff and the police chief. However, her first two urine samples were too small and did not reach the appropriate temperature for testing. Duncan claimed to be clueless about why this was happening. During her third attempt, officers witnessed an unauthorized collection container fall from her shorts.

“Duncan stated that she was not aware of the pouch/container in her shorts until after she was providing her second sample,”

police wrote in their affidavit.

Duncan was arrested and taken to Vanderburgh County Jail on charges of criminal possession and possession of drug paraphernalia. She has since been released on a $1,000 bond, with the condition that she attends a drug rehab program, according to the court clerk at Vanderburgh Superior Court who spoke to Fox News Digital.
