A 14-year-old student has been arrested because he reportedly asked his friend in Germany to make a fake bomb threat at a high school in Ocala, reports FOX35. The police charged him with criminal solicitation of a threat to discharge a destructive device.

The incident happened on August 25 at Trinity Catholic School. The police were called after an unknown person left a voicemail stating that there was a bomb in a particular room and it would explode. Since the caller seemed to have knowledge about the school, the detectives presumed that someone from the school might be responsible. Eventually, they traced the call back to Germany.

According to officials, the boy told the other boy in Germany he “did not feel like going to school that day and told him to call the school and make a bomb threat.” This led to the arrest of the 14-year-old student involved in the fake bomb threat.

The Ocala Police Department said,

“We want to remind students and parents that we take threats to our schools very seriously and we will not hesitate to take action against those who seek to cause harm or create panic in our community.”
