Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert’s marriage was an enviable one, but it seems they have hit the rocks. The singer intended it to be under the radar but reports claim her divorce move has been on for a year.

Teyana Taylor Says Iman Shumpert Is Jealous, and He Abused Her Emotionally

Despite the secrecy, TMZ had a look at Teyana Taylor’s legal papers filed against Iman Shumpert, which were dated back to January. This was eight months before they announced their separation in September.

She wanted it to be away from the eagle-eyed media by using their initials, but Iman did not care.
In the filing, she accused Iman of being jealous of her success story. According to her, it led him to become unsure about their marriage. She mentioned that he always acted up when paparazzi decided to snap a photo of her without him being in it.

Shockingly, despite racking up a few millions himself in his NBA career, Iman was consumed with insecurity and doubted if he was good enough for Teyana Taylor.

Coupled with the insecurity were cruelty, harshness, and gaslighting. This affected Teyana, who claimed she began to “intentionally dim her light,” taking up very little work and avoiding fame for her marriage to work.

Nonetheless, focusing on her marriage rather than her career affected the home as Iman complained about her not bringing in cash. When Iman stopped making the rounds from the NBA, she tried to hook him up with her Hollywood connection, yet he truncated the opportunity.

According to the lawsuit, Iman’s lackadaisical nature and emotional torture stirred Teyana to consider divorce in 2021. The following year, she began the process but had a rethink and decided to halt.
Finally, at the beginning of 2023, Teyana thought it wise to walk away, considering the never-ending torment. While she dealt with his insecurities and jealousy, he was also reckless with her property (car) and instances of infidelity.

Although Teyana Taylor maintained that his unfaithfulness had nothing to do with the divorce, she explained that he was involved in controversies during their time together.

Teyana Wants The Kids

Sadly, what began as a beautiful love story between the two duo who share two kids ended terribly. A month after announcing their separation, Iman left their home and has not been around for their two kids. Teyana Taylor now wants temporary and permanent physical custody of their children.
