Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has firmly denied the recent rumors that he invented the already well-known

“fade”

haircut. Last week, The New York Times published a report with the headline,

“They’ll Take The Tavis Kelce – Hairdo That Is,”

suggesting that Kelce is responsible for the surge in popularity of the hairstyle.

According to the article, barbers have been seeing a significant rise in requests for the cut, which has allegedly been dubbed the

“Travis Kelce haircut.”

However, these claims have faced widespread criticism, with many calling out White media for giving Kelce for the fade’s

“newfound fame.”

Rapper-turned-sports/cultural analyst, Cam’ron went on his podcast,

“It Is What It Is”

with co-host, Mase and said,

“S–t done got out of hand… It’s a fade bro, a white n—a with a fade, n—as steal everything from us. Can we have anything?”

Chad Ochocinco and Shannon Sharpe also added their two cents to the conversation on the

“Club Shay Shay”

podcast. Sharpe said,

“Ocho, I’ve been getting a fade since 86.”

Chad Johnson chimed in saying,

“Wait, he don’t have a fade, he got a buzz cut. Like when you go to the Army bro, how bro.”

Well, Travis put a stop to the rumors during the Super Bowl LVIII Opening Night press conference where he addressed the report and said,

“It’s absolutely ridiculous and to do it on February 1st to throw me into the wolves like that, that was messed up, man. I don’t want anything to do with that one, man.”

Travis jokingly added,

“I got a good fade if you need it though, it’s two on top, a nice high to mid-fade with a taper in the back… But I didn’t invent that, I just asked for it.”
