According to PEOPLE, Travis Scott opens up about the fatal Astroworld Festival tragedy two years after the incident occurred.

The show on Nov. 5, 2021, claimed the lives of 10 individuals who were in attendance, with a thousand others reported injured as a result of the crushing crowd at NRG Park in Houston, Texas.

It is apparent that the rapper carries a heaviness from that night on his heart, and he also expresses his unwavering love for his fans.

“I always think about it. Those fans were like my family,”

Scott said.

“You just feel for those people and their families.”

While speaking about how that devastating time affected his creative process while working on his new album Utopia, the Grammy nominee said it took

“months and months and months”

To get back to his music after that night.

The rapper made it known that it was

“therapeutic”

For him to be able to

“channel some of the energy into production and sounds and finishing it.”

He specifically references the events from Houston that night in his song

“My Eyes,”

Explaining that it channels

“the things I deal with on a day-to-day basis and the struggles of life in all aspects.”

“The song is emotional to me,”

The rapper said.

“It’s one of my favorite songs on the album, and that verse means a lot to me.”

Scott also wanted his fans to understand his pain and concerns, as well as the things he sees and thinks about on a day-to-day basis.

Scott said he was unable to hear any screams for help when the crowd surge began during his first post-Astroworld interview with Good Morning America in 2021, and he claimed he did stop the show several times to ensure his fans were safe.

The Grammy nominee faced potential criminal charges, but he was absolved by a Texas grand jury on June 29 of this year, as they decided not to take action since he was not deemed responsible.
