Yara Shahidi may be a grown woman, but she still honours her mother, who is responsible for the grooming. For many Hollywood stars, family and relatives who help them achieve their dreams are forever in their hearts. It doesn’t matter about the fame or fortune, whenever the chance arises, these celebrities give due praise. Recently, Yara Shahidi showered her mother with an appreciation speech while revealing what childhood felt like.

Yara Shahidi Says Mom, Keri Shahidi Made Her Life Balance

The Grown-ish actress gave her inspiration for her flowers at the WIF honours. People caught up with her after receiving the Max Mara Face of the Future award at the event. During the interview, she stated:

“All credit to my mother there because she helped me just make sure that I experienced balance in my life.”

Despite becoming acquainted with fame at a young age, it did not ruin her. Funny enough, Keri allowed her daughter to be herself, enjoying what she loved best. These hobbies were far away from showbiz, but still, it did not matter to Keri.

Yara Shahidi’s stardom never dimmed her path to education. In her words:

“I think she just made sure that I lived a very full life outside of entertainment and that I had hobbies and interests in school, and I think it just provided kind of a grounding force for me. Even going to college, as absolutely insane as that schedule was, it was really necessary for me to have something else outside of this world.”

The Actress Proved Herself To Her Mother

Keri did not labour in vain. She got an independent and confident young woman in return by guiding her daughter. One who pursued her goals despite the difficulties or gruesome work schedules.

While working on TV, Yara focused on education. She studied to enter prestigious schools, including Yale University, Stanford University, Spelman College, and Harvard. In the end, the actress explored her academics at Harvard, her dream school, despite making it into the other options.

In 2022, Yara became a Harvard graduate, where she learned a lot about black history. In 2018, Yara told show host Jimmy Kimmel that her first love is academics. For her, becoming a history professor came above acting. While sharing her experience on the Harvard website, the Grown-ish star confessed, “This is something I’ve been planning for a long time.”
