Unlike Will Smith during the Oscars a few years ago, Ariana DeBose did not get to slap anybody following the joke pulled by presenters at the Critic Choice Awards. However, the Wish actress updated fans on Instagram about how she felt.

Presenters Say Ariana DeBose Is Delusional — But It Was A Joke

Ariana DeBose’s Disney film Wish made it to three award categories at the Critic Choice Awards. In the Best Song nomination, she went up against Ryan Gosling’s “I’m Just Ken” in the Barbie Movie.
When it was time for presenters, Bella Ramsey and Anthony Ramos, to announce the winners, they let out a short joke. As per ET Online, Ramos chimed in:

“And then there are the actors who also think that they’re singers. Jack Black, Ariana DeBose, and Ken himself, Ryan Gosling.”

Ramos’s declaration at the Critics Choice Awards triggered a roaring laughter, but not all were impressed with the punchline. Ariana DeBose was visibly upset but concealed it with a stiff smile. Eventually, the award went to Ryan, who also expressed shock at the victory.

Back home and behind her keypads, Ariana gave an honest review of her Critics Choice Awards experience. The 32-year-old wrote via her Instagram story:

“No I didn’t find it funny. Lol.”

Ariana became the name on everybody’s lips following her BAFTA performance in 2023. She rapped using notable female actresses in the game.

In her words:

“Angela Bassett did the thing, Viola Davis my ‘Woman King,’ Blanchett Cate you’re a genius, Jamie Lee you are all of us,”

Online, a few fans roared in anger, claiming it was disrespectful. It led to a meme creation, and everyone was talking about it.
