    Amandla Stenberg To Star In The New “Star Wars”

    Amandla Stenberg embarks on a new journey with Star Wars. 

    “I have been feeling a little more trepidation than I thought,”

    says Amandla who takes the lead in the upcoming Disney+ series

    “The Acolyt.”

    The actress couldn’t turn down the offer to play the lead because co-creator Leslye Headland created the role with Amandla in mind. Amandla recounts how the pair met in Brooklyn around the corner from her home when Leslye pitched the idea to her.

    “All the artwork was conceptualized with my face, and Leslye was like, ‘So I’ve been working on this for about three or four years for you. I don’t know what I’m going to do if you don’t do it. No pressure.’ So I was sent to the moon, of course.”

    After her breakout success staring alongside Jennifer Lawrence in

    “The Hunger Games”

    playing Rue, the backlash she received came with worldwide audience recognition. Amandla spoke on people being racist and not being upset about their outburst, she said, 

    “I think already, at age 12, I was like, Yeah, people are racist. Why are y’all surprised,” 

    said the actress.

    “When I reflect on it, I don’t remember being very upset about it, I remember feeling that I don’t give a flying f**k what these racist people think of me. I think bigots don’t bother me.’”

    With her current introduction into another world of Sci-fi since The Hunger Games, the actress will take on the role of the titular Jedi trainee role in The Acolyte as her introduction to Star Wars Universe.

    “I have a heavy load in this show, an abnormal load,”

    she says.

    The story follows The Mandalorian, Andor, and Ashoka all in each line of spin-offs commissioned for Disney+ with large budgets aimed at over two-hour cinematic releases with each episodic show.

    “The crews are so hardcore, they’re so hardworking, and it’s very kind of hierarchical and competitive, and people work their asses off,”

    she revealed.

    “It’s very different, I think, than what I’ve experienced on most American sets.”

    only to provide it with a temporary moment of implementation.

    This animated feature film has become the most widely talked about film since news broke that Warners intended to toss out the movie.
    A lot of filmmakers and fans took to social media to air their opinions and Warners shortly altered its course and later allowed film director Dave Green to make the film available to other buyers to shop— a plan that Green had in place before Warner decided to scrap the film.

    One of the buyers, who wanted to purchase the film from Green, came in bidding with the sum of $40 million.

    As for the future of Coyote Vs Acme, the signs are not visible that a release will occur in this new year. Discovery wrote off $115 million as part of an earning filing in content due to projects dropped in the third quarter of 2024, being that it was part of a

    “strategic realignment plan associated with the Warner Bros Pictures Animation Group.”

    As part of the filing, part of the $115 million in written cost conceivably belonged to Coyote vs Acme and the fate of a $70 million feature film deal had been in the waiting line for months. Since the campaign from last fall, Coyote vs Acme has been championed by a trending hashtag #ReleaseCoyoteVsAcme by actor Eric Bauza. Since it assumed earnings, fans believe that Friday could be a day for the project since the earnings could reveal its fate.

    Denzel Washington and Spike Lee Reunite For A Remake Of Akira Kurosawa’s “High and Low”

    According to reports from Variety, Denzel Washington and Spike Lee are reuniting for their fifth film together after the news of their collaboration was announced by Apple Original Films and A24. They will be partnering on the English adaptation of the 1963 crime drama “High and Low” by Akira Kurosawa.

    The thriller, which will start production in March, will be a reinterpretation of the same title that was originally done in Japanese in 1963. It is based on another novel by Ed McBain called

    “King’s Ransom,”

    which chronicles the downfall of a businessman following a ransom payment to kidnappers.

    Denzel and Spike have had previous successes with their movies together, so it is fitting that they will reunite once again to recreate the success they had with

    “Malcolm X”

    and

    “He Got Game.”

    Lee has expressed his admiration for Kurosawa in the past, so it is no surprise that he jumped at the chance to recreate one of his works.

    This remake will be released theatrically by A24 before heading to Apple TV+.

    Craig Schulz Reveals His Father Faced Racial Abuse For Creating Franklin In The ‘Peanuts’ Comic Strip

    The executive producer of Welcome Home, Franklin, and overseer of all Peanuts media, Craig Schultz, was interviewed by Daily Beast’s Obsessed over Zoom alongside director Raymond S. Persi in regards to Franklin’s introduction and initial backlash, following the legacy of Peanuts creator Charles M. Schulz, and seizing the opportunity to respond to a controversial shot from the 1973 Thanksgiving special.

    According to the Daily Beast, the creation of Franklin has a remarkable origin.

    “The year was 1968,” Schulz says. “Martin Luther King, Jr. had been assassinated. A young school teacher named Harriet Glickman had seen this, and it profoundly affected her. She thought that one way to get a better message out to the community was to reach out to some cartoonists and see if we could get a Black character in the cartoon world—which there hadn’t been up until then.”

    One of the cartoonists Glickman reached out to was Charles Schulz, the creator of the Peanuts universe. That same year, on July 31, Franklin joined the Peanuts, first introduced in a comic strip meeting Charlie Brown on the beach. That very sequence was recreated in Welcome Home, Franklin to honor the character’s legacy.

    It is worth mentioning that the decision to incorporate Franklin into the comic strip came with an alarming, albeit unsurprising, amount of controversy. His father took him to his bedroom and showed him

    “this letter that’s two pages long of this rant of somebody who just blasted him for putting a Black character in the comic strip,”

    Schulz recalled. It was a shocking moment for the young Schulz, who explained that anonymous civilians weren’t the only people upset with Franklin’s introduction.

    “Newspapers refused to run those comics with Franklin in them in those days. And my dad said, ‘If you’re not going to run it, that’s fine with me. I’m just not going to write it,’”

    said Schulz.

    By smartly wielding his power and the popularity of the comics, Franklin remained a key part of the Peanuts crew. Nonetheless, it was an eye-opening moment for the cartoonist:

    “I think the whole thing enlightened him on the anger that was in the world,”

    Schulz says.

    Schulz says, adding,

    “We use the comic strip as our Bible and we build upon that. This story was one that we all wanted to tell. Everybody loves Franklin. We just felt he deserved a lot of respect.”
