Iowa Women’s Basketball Star Caitlin Clark Defends LSU Star Angel Reese Over National Championship Game ‘Trash Talk,’ Says ‘I Don’t Think She Should Be Criticized’

It looks like Iowa women’s basketball star Caitlin Clark is standing up for LSU rival Angel Reese amid internet backlash over Reese’s on-court etiquette.

After winning the NCAA’s Women’s Basketball Championship title game Sunday the LSU star was criticized for her behavior on the court. Twitter dragged Reese for apparently displaying

    “poor sportsmanship”

after she enacted John Cena’s famous

    “you can’t see me”

gesture toward her opponent Caitlin Clark.

Sports columnist Jose Ortiz, even called the moment

    “classless.”

“This is classless. Angel Reese is only 20, so she’s still young, but taunting Caitlin Clark like this shows a pure lack of class. Win with class, lose with class, play with class,”

he wrote on Twitter. However, many came to Reese’s defense pointing out similar actions done by Caitlin Clark.

“So was it classless when Caitlin Clark did it??,”

former linebacker turned sports analyst, Emmanuel Acho said replying to Ortiz’s comments.

Now Caitlin Clark has stepped into the conversation defending her opponent’s competitive spirit.

“I don’t think Angel should be criticized at all…I’m just one that competes and she competed….I think everybody knew that there was going to be a little trash talk in the entire tournament it’s not just me and Angel, so I don’t think she should be criticized…I’m a big fan of hers,”

    she said in an interview.

Reese also responded to the backlash stating in an after-game press conference,

    “Be unapologetically you.”

Substitute Teacher Claims School Officer Grabbed Her by the Throat and Dragged Her Through the Hallway

A substitute teacher claims she was grabbed by the throat and dragged through the hallway by a student resource officer who thought she was a student, WSB-TV reported.

Nia King, 22, who has been working at Eagle’s Landing High School in McDonough, Georgia since September said she was attacked by an SRO after attempting to break up a fight between two girls in the hallway.

“The girl hits the other girl, and then that’s when the crowd started,”

    King told WSB-TV.

“Once we pushed down the hall, I got trampled from the left to the right of the hall, and then now I’m back into the middle of the fight. As I was back in the middle of the fight, the SRO just grabs me by the neck, and the fight is still continuing to go on, and she dragged me all the way from the middle of the hall towards her office,”

    she explained.

King said she wasn’t offered any explanation for the SRO actions.

“She asked me do I need EMS, do I need the nurse, and do I need some water,”

    King recalled.

“I just told her, ‘I just need you to leave because you just drug me from that point to this point, and I couldn’t breathe, but you wouldn’t talk.’”

King said the officer came back to explain that she was trying to save her from being attacked in the brawl. However, King said she made no contact with the students during the fight.

“I couldn’t breathe at one point,”

she said. The incident was caught on video by students and has been sent to both the Henry County police and the school district, who are conducting an investigation into the matter.

  • 3-Year-Old Developed a Rare Bacterial Infection After Getting Bit by Iguana Who Tried to Steal Her Cake

3-Year-Old Developed a Rare Bacterial Infection After Getting Bit by Iguana Who Tried to Steal Her Cake

A toddler developed a rare infection after she was bitten by an iguana who attempted to steal her cake, Insider reported.

The unidentified 3-year-old girl was reportedly on vacation in Costa Rica with her parents when the incident occurred. Her parents had given her a cake while she sat by the water on the beach. Not too long afterward a wild iguana approached her, bit her finger, and stole her cake, reports reveal.

According to CNN, iguanas are generally harmless herbivores, but this particular one apparently had a sweet tooth. The parents brought their daughter to a local clinic, which sterilized the wound and gave her antibiotics. They believed the bite was healed but five months later they discovered a bump in the same spot she was bit.

The bump reportedly grew the size of a coin

    “and was a reddish-bluish color,”

the Guardian reported. Although the child said the bump did not hurt the family rushed her to the doctor. A biopsy revealed that the child developed Mycobacterium marinum, which is usually found in fish. The little girl had to be treated with rifampin, an antimicrobial, and clarithromycin, due to the rare condition.

“Typically, with these infections, because they take a very long time to grow and they’re a little bit more fastidious, you need to treat them for a longer period of time, sometimes several months,”

Dr Jordan Kit Mah, a medical microbiologist at Stanford University told CNN.

“She’s doing better. I wouldn’t say 100%, but she’s doing a lot better than she was initially.”

  • California Family Files Lawsuit Against Amazon After Their 2-Year-Old Daughter was Fatally Struck by a Delivery Driver

California Family Files Lawsuit Against Amazon After Their 2-Year-Old Daughter was Fatally Struck by a Delivery Driver

A California family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Amazon for the loss of their two-year-old daughter who was fatally struck by an Amazon delivery van, reports Insider.

In August 2022, the Wu family tragically lost their two-year-old daughter, who was hit by an Amazon delivery truck in the parking lot of their apartment complex in Irvine, California, according to KTLA. Now they are suing the e-commerce giant in hopes of preventing other families from experiencing a similar tragedy.

However, according to the family’s attorney, Michael Adler, Amazon has denied any responsibility. Adler told the local outlet that Amazon claims that because the driver was hired through a third-party contractor they are not liable. Amazon has also withheld the dashcam video from the day of the incident. According to Adler, the company won’t release the video to the court without a confidentiality agreement, he told KTLA.

Adler believes this is just a tactic used by Amazon to avoid lawsuits. According to a 2019 investigation done by ProPublica,

“between 2015 and 2019, drivers delivering packages for Amazon had been involved in at least 60 car crashes that caused serious injury,”

reports reveal. In each incident, Amazon denied responsibility for the delivery driver’s actions citing agreements from third parties that state that they will

“defend, indemnify and hold harmless Amazon.”

Adler says he will continue to fight for his clients.

“We have the resources. We have the ability to fight them — but what happens to the next and the next and the next?”

    Alder asked, according to KTLA.

“We don’t want that to happen to our client in this case, but we don’t want it to happen to anyone in the future,”

    he added.

  • A Half-Black Student in Japan Excluded From Participating in High School Graduation After Showing Up with Cornrows

A Half-Black Student in Japan Excluded From Participating in High School Graduation After Showing Up with Cornrows

A Black Japanese teenager in Japan was separated from his classmates during his graduation ceremony because his hairstyle broke school rules, VICE World News reported.

The unidentified 18-year-old boy wore cornrows to his high school graduation and was pulled by school administrators who said the style went against the school’s policy. The boy said he wanted

    “neat hair”

for his graduation and asked his dad, who is black, about the hairstyle. Teachers took the teenager away from his classmates and placed him on the second floor alone. He was also told by staff to not

“respond to his name when it was called,”

    reports note.

The student’s father spoke out against the school’s actions in an interview with local journalist Mainichi Shimbun,

“Braiding is a way for Black people to arrange their hair, the same way that Japanese people part their hair. It’s discriminatory to assume that a hairstyle with roots is a violation without any reason.”

Asao Naito, an associate professor of sociology from Meiji University told VICE World News that the school’s restriction is not uncommon in Japan as they have implemented strict school rules known as burakku kousoku, which requires students with hair that isn’t black or straight to provide proof. Some schools even ask that you submit childhood photos, reports reveal.
