Gloria Govan And Matt Barnes’ Child Support Saga

A reality laced with controversy is what Basketball Wives alum Govan and Barnes have been showing the public for years.

At the beginning of the year, the onscreen star dropped a suit against her former partner, claiming he refused to be responsible for their twins. According to the files, initially, Barnes was supposed to remit $20,000 in child support monthly. Following his exit from the NBA, the amount dropped to $9,983.

Still, he refused to comply. Govan maintained that he neglected the emails she sent. On the other hand, Barnes told the court his ex targeted an email that was no longer in use while serving him the lawsuit.

This secured him some points, as the court canceled the $133,000 that was supposed to serve as a backdrop for money he owed.

Gloria Govan Files Another Chid Support Lawsuit Against Her Ex

Gloria Govan is not ready to move on without her ex-husband acting right. Barnes, who already has a new woman in his life and a child, is set for his reality show titled “The Barnes Bunch.” Expectedly, his twins will feature in it. But the boys’ mom claimed that Barnes disregarded their initial agreement.

Radar Online gathered that Govan is not yet ready to sweep the child support struggle under the carpet. This fresh legal battle pegs Barnes as someone who is currently owing $267,000 in child support.

The Basketball Wives alum highlighted his annual earnings and savings, adding that he has the money to offset his bills. Although Barnes has been settling her with $4,000 monthly since 2020 after he claimed to be in a fix. Still, they never reached an agreement to reduce payment from $9,983.

With reference to his volatile personality, Govan told the court that Barnes does not possess emotional intelligence. This transcends to the fact that he could represent her badly on his TV show. In her words:

“I am especially concerned that if Matt gets angry, that some of this will be displayed on the reality show The Barnes Bunch that he has been filming for a season, and which is filming again now. I had originally only agreed to our boys being included only on a limited basis, but Matt went beyond our agreement.”

Since filing the new motion, Govan’s ex-husband has yet to defend himself in a statement or a legal response.
