This Christmas special stars Keith David and Omar Gooding as father and son in this Compton-set Christmas tale. In this Compton neighborhood, Big Earl owns a Christmas tree farm. The father and son clash when Gooding tries to prove to his father that he can stand on his own. This film is an uplifting family movie that brings forth all of the emotions. The film also stars Sheryl Lee Ralph and Eric Roberts, who all shine bright, bringing the audience that seasonal feel.

2. Last Holiday

This film is definitely one for the culture, with two exceptional rappers as lead actors. Rapper-actors Queen Latifah and LL Cool J star in this Christmastime rom-com film directed by Wayne Wang. The story revolves around a department store employee, Georgia (Latifah), who takes it upon herself to live freely and be happy despite being diagnosed with a rare terminal neurological disorder. Georgia fantasizes about Sean (LL Cool J), her co-worker whom she sees as her ideal man.

3. The Perfect Holiday

Gabrielle Union and Morris Chestnut finally have a film that stars them as a couple in this beautiful romantic comedy movie and a match made during the Christmas holiday season. Nancy (Union) is a single mother of three whose young daughter tells the department store Santa Claus (Chestnut) that she wishes for a man for her mom for the holiday season. Nancy’s other children are not so excited about the request and decide to take it upon themselves to make Chestnut sweat for it. The film also stars Queen Latifah and Terrence Howard, Faizon Love, Charlie Murphy, and Katt Williams.

4. Jingle Jangle: A Christmas Journey

Director David E. Talbert directs this Christmas movie. Talbert, who is famous for directing and creating

“Almost Christmas,”

Is the mastermind behind this piece. This film tells the story of toymaker Jeronicus Jangle (Forest Whitaker), whose priceless creation is stolen by his apprentice, Gustafson (Keegan-Michael Key). Jeronicus and his granddaughter (Madalen Mills) team up to regain possession of what’s rightfully theirs as the pair instills a little Christmas magic and delight back into the town of Cobbleton.

It focuses on original songs and dance numbers and features a plethora of award-winning actors, such as Anika Noni Rose and Phylicia Rashad.

5. Merry Liddle Christmas

Not a Destiny’s Child Christmas, but a Christmas with a child of destiny. This film stars the beautiful Kelly Rowland. The film centers on the life of Jacquie Liddle, a single woman who is placed in a biologically dysfunctional family that she must live with during the holiday as she watches them crash her peace and quiet.

While trying to maintain peace and decorum and keep it all together, she finds herself confiding in her neighbor Tyler Brooks (Thomas Cadrot), whom she begins developing feelings for. This makes her Christmas one for the books, with twists and turns of events that turn out to be her most magical Christmas and holiday season ever.

The film debuts Rowland as a film producer, producing for television. The film has been critically acclaimed and stands a chance on the Christmas shelf, competing against every other Christmas movie. It has earned three sequels: Merry Liddle Christmas Wedding (2020), Merry Liddle Christmas Baby (2021), and the upcoming Merry Liddle Christmas Vacation, giving the audience a Christmas franchise.
