Multi-Grammy winner Chaka Khan no longer holds Kanye West accountable for pissing her off. Following the rapper’s Through The Wire sample, the singing goddess felt insulted. Now that she talks about retirement, the beef will remain in the past.

Chaka Khan and Kanye West’s Unsettled Relationship Following Through The Wire Sample

Before there was ever a Kanye West, Chaka Khan had been making music. Throughout her career, she has won ten Grammy awards and landed a spot in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Chaka also influenced the music industry, and artists like Kanye begged to use her song.

As a budding rapper, he asked to sample her Through the Wire song in 2004 for his College Dropout album. The song topped the Billboard 100 and was nominated for a Grammy.

While the world fell in love with Chaka’s original song once again, the singer felt insulted. In 2019, she revealed that the tune got her mad. In her words:

“I thought it was stupid! If I’d known he was gonna do that, I would have said, ‘Hell no.’”

Years later, Chaka realized that the rap business was different from what she thought it was. With a more advanced knowledge, the singer shared:

“I’m not hanging on to any silly grudges.”

Chaka Khan Will No Longer Tour

For decades, Chaka has remained relevant through her music and touring around the world. But this time, she is willing to pass the baton to focus on family. According to Rolling Stone, the singer who intended to name her memoir To Hell and Back in a Limousine admitted that travel life was hectic.

“Riding on a bus, pissing in a little bathroom, waking up in the morning and you’re five hours from your hotel where you can take a proper bath or shower and go to bed like a normal human being…It was just insanity. It’s like being a truck driver and a performer. It’s lonely as all get-out,” she chimed in.

Rolling Stone reports that Chaka is giving up touring to build a connection with her loved ones, including great-grandchildren. This does not mean that fans will not hear from her soon. Amid her tour retirement, she would show up now and then for dates.
