Reinas is an upcoming drama film directed by Klaudia Reynicke, starring Abril Gjurinovic as Lucia, Luana Vega as Aurora, Jimena Lindo as Elena, Gonzalo Molina as Carlos, and Susi Sánchez as Abuela.
This film follows the story of Two teenage sisters who are about to leave their country forever after an unexpected reconnection with their father who’s been Absent all their life. This relationship will both amplify and ease their pain of change.
After being overshadowed by social and political chaos during the summer of 1992 in Lima, Aurora, Lucia, and Elena, their mother, make plans to leave and seek better opportunities in the United States.
Their farewell involves reconnecting with Carlos, their estranged father further fueling the fire of their hopes, regrets, and fear associated with their emotional departure.
The film is set to premiere at the World Cinema Dramatic Competition during the 2024 Sundance Film Festival and is co-produced by Swiss-Peruvian-Spanish International.
