Talk about a ‘doggone’ disaster. A Boston couple’s Italian wedding is in jeopardy after their dog decided to take a bite out of the groom’s passport.

Donato Frattaroli and his fiance had recently visited city hall to complete their marriage paperwork, eagerly preparing for their August 31st ceremony. However, upon returning home, they discovered that their mischievous year-and-a-half-old golden retriever, Chickie, had chewed through several pages of Frattaroli’s passport, he told the NY Post

With their flight to Italy scheduled for this Friday, the couple now finds themselves in a race against time to obtain a replacement passport. They have reached out to local authorities, seeking assistance to resolve this situation. However, if Frattaroli is unable to secure a new passport before the flight, he faces the heart-wrenching decision of staying behind while his fiance and wedding guests proceed to Italy without him.

“I’m just a little stressed,”

Frattaroli told the Post.

“Luckily, Congressman (Stephen) Lynch’s office and Sen. (Ed) Markey’s office have been super responsive. They’ve been in touch, at least with me and the State Department, to try to expedite things and get a new passport. Keep my fingers crossed and, hopefully, everything will work itself out.”

If Frattaroli cannot obtain a passport in time for his wedding, he says he made alternate plans to meet up with the wedding party upon their return to the United States. The couple remains hopeful that a solution will be found, as their dream of an Italian wedding hangs in the balance.
