Father’s Death, Mother’s Elopement: Daughter’s Bold Stand At Wedding Sparks Debate
According to a Reddit post, a 40-year-old woman claimed to be having difficulty accepting her mother’s reality. She explained that her parents were married for 50 years until one of them died suddenly. Sadly, her dad passed away after suffering from lung cancer and a heart attack in March 2023.
Amid the tragedy, the entire family including the grieving wife and her daughter stuck together. They showed up for each other, showing comfort while re-ordering their father’s estate for the surviving parent. Ultimately, the family agreed to honor the dead by not making “big changes” for the year.
Turns out that the family’s matriarch did make an overwhelming change by having another man in her life. Following her husband’s death, the widow reunited with a long-lost family friend— a widower. He spoke about the deceased in a family event before the issue of their romance came up.
According to the 40-year-old daughter, her mother, and beau fell in love four months after her dad died and they “eloped.” The widow put her home on sale to live with her newfound love, while she made her emotions known to family. Meanwhile, she invited her daughter to the widower’s home, an offer that was turned down.
On top of that, the widow was allegedly absent from her grandchild’s birthday, her deceased husband’s, and the poster’s. These things have never happened before. She was also away with her other lover during her marriage anniversary.
Now the duo are planning to seal their love affair by getting married next spring. As for the poster, this is a somewhat selfish move from her mom. At the same time, she’s angry her mom shares more details of the romance and other decisions with her sisters.
This issue has led to anger, intense grief, and fear of loss in the family. While noting these emotions, the poster is aware that her mom may not have much time left. Yet, she doesn’t intend to attend their upcoming wedding.
