Hip Hop star Jeezy is seeking legal help to resolve a custody issue with his estranged wife Jeannie Mai. He has filed a motion requesting a formal custody agreement with his soon-to-be ex-wife to avoid further complications. Jeezy and Jeannie Mai currently share custody of their one-year-old daughter, Monaco. However, according to the rapper, their unofficial visitation schedule has been difficult to follow.

According to sources, the couple initially agreed on a temporary plan for the remainder of 2023, but the arrangement has proven impractical. Jeezy’s legal team has now submitted a court document accusing Jeannie Mai of acting as a

“gatekeeper”

and preventing his ability to spend quality time with their daughter.

“The lack of consistency, continuity, and stability inherently associated with such a haphazard and fluid parenting time schedule is stressful to the child, and it has, as is unfortunately inevitable with all families in transition, created unnecessary tension and confusion regarding not only parenting time but also in regard to each parent’s role and rights when the child is in their respective custody.”

He continued,

“Jeezy said he doesn’t believe Mai acting maliciously or with specific intent to harm his relationship with their child.”

Adding,

“Mai’s interference with Jeezy’s relationship with the child, again, while not generated from or with malicious intent, is nevertheless, causing confusion and tension between the parties and is working to stifle the development of Jeezy’s relationship with the child. As such, it is necessary at this point to separate, structure and clearly define the parties’ temporary legal and physical custody rights and set a parenting time schedule consistent with the best interests of the child.” 

After news broke that Jeezy filed for divorce from his wife in September (2023) he later posted a statement to his social media stating,

“Our beautiful daughter is the best gift from our relationship and I am committed to assuring she feels the love and stability she deserves. During this period, I kindly request that you respect our family’s privacy as we focus on healing.”
