At the 2023 Emmy Awards, Jenna Ortega revealed that season two of “Wednesday” might become more sinister rather than Halloween. The Tim Burton-inspired Netflix series will dive deeper into the horror aspects, with Ortega stating that forthcoming scripts are way more intense. She was thrilled with the extended action and episodic touch resembling one-off movies.

The new season will take the production to Ireland, which has caused Ortega’s departure from “Scream 7”, though she remains involved in other films such as “Finestkind”, “Miller’s Girl”, and “Death of a Unicorn”.

Ortega also disclosed that the second season would shun romantic storylines and will turn to horror. This choice is consonant with her attitude towards the character Wednesday in that she preserves both the integrity of the role and experiments to reveal darker themes.
