The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office received a complaint about an inappropriate relationship between the teacher and the student, prompting an investigation. Sheriff Daniel Edwards acknowledged the investigation but withheld further details due to the student’s age.

“While we cannot share specific details regarding the investigation, we can confirm that the allegations were dealt with promptly, and the investigation process has been rigorous and thorough,”

Edwards told WVUE.

“This type of investigation is time-consuming and is being handled with great care. Under no circumstances will we be rushed for closure,”

he added.

No arrests have been made, police said.

According to WDSU, the Tangipahoa Parish School System has confirmed that the teacher involved in the alleged improper relationship has resigned from her position.

“The Tangipahoa Parish System has been made aware of allegations that involve a former employee of the District,”

TPSS Superintendent Melissa M. Stilley told The Post in a statement.

“As this matter involves confidential student and personnel issues, we are unable to comment further at this time, other than to confirm that student welfare is a priority of the School District and that an investigation is ongoing,”

she said.
