A person posing as an Amazon employee is accused of stealing approximately $35,000 worth of jewelry and valuable items, including money that was set aside for a 12-year-old girl, reports the NY Post.
The suspect is believed to be responsible for nine burglaries and break-ins in the Astoria, Sunnyside, and Long Island City area between January 2023 and March 5.

He went through a window and made off with around $9,000 in cash and $1,800 worth of unspecified items.
One of the victims, a single mother named Estrla Islas, shared with FOX 5 that the burglar gained entry through a bathroom window searched through her belongings, and took the money she had saved for her daughter.
“He took almost like $9,000,”
Islas told the network.
“$9,000 in cash.”
In the recent March 5 incident, a suspect entered a home in Sunnyside by sneaking in through a window. According to authorities, the thief took jewelry and other belongings valued at $6,500, as well as around $200 in cash.
This burglary is just one of five similar incidents where the thief targeted jewelry. The total of stolen items amounts to approximately $34,705, according to the police. As of Thursday, the cat burglar remains at large.
