Since the release of

“Barbie,”

the actress who also portrayed Harley Quinn in

“The Suicide Squad,”

Margot Robbie, sat down with Variety to discuss her roles as an actor and producer in films.

The actress talked about considering a future in directing, saying,

“I don’t know. The tricky thing is, as much as I say I’m strict about saying no as a producer, I also get so excited about all the things I could produce that it ends up taking up all my time. And as an actor, I get to work with so many brilliant directors and watch them do it. It’s like having a front-row seat to the best master class in the world. So it’s tempting to keep doing that. But directing is a dear ambition of mine.”

When asked if she would be retiring Harley’s bat now that Lady Gaga has taken on the role in the upcoming film

“Joker: Folie à Deux”

alongside Joaquin Phoenix, the actress had this to say:

“I always wanted Harley to be a character that would be passed on to other actresses to play, the way there are so many iconic male characters. That was always the dream for her. Harley’s so fun and can go in so many different directions. You put her in someone else’s hands, and it’s like, ‘What are they going to do with her?’ The options are endless,”

says the star of

“Salt Burn.”

The actress also hinted that she and Barbie director Greta Gerwig predicted the film would make billions at the box office, but they never anticipated an Oscar win.

“We didn’t say, ‘This is going to make it to the Oscars,'”

the film producer and actress said about the current award season.
