North Carolina Man Dies After Stealing Plane From Flight School and Crashing Near Texas-Oklahoma Border

A student pilot, identified as Logan Timothy James, 23, from North Carolina, tragically lost his life after he allegedly stole a plane from the ATP Flight School at Addison Airport, reports People.

A student pilot, identified as Logan Timothy James, 23, from North Carolina, tragically lost his life after he allegedly stole a plane from the ATP Flight School at Addison Airport, reports People

The single-engine Cessna 172 crashed into a field near the Fannin and Lamar county lines around 8:15 p.m. According to an air traffic control recording obtained by PEOPLE, James turned off the plane’s communication systems after saying he was traveling to East Texas. 

“I’m not going to listen to y’alls instructions,”

he said at one point.

Tragically, Allen lost his life in the crash. Reports from KDFW and KXAS-TV state that Allen was the only occupant inside the plane during the accident. The circumstances surrounding the crash and James’ intentions for taking the plane remain uncertain.

ATP Flight School told KTVT,  the man killed in the crash was a

“private pilot ATP certified student.”

An investigation into the crash is ongoing, per the reports.
