The lives of a married couple are turned upside down when a stranger arrives at their farm and informs the husband that he will be sent to a large space station, leaving his wife in the company of a robot.

Henrietta (Saoirse Ronan) and Junior (Paul Mescal) lead a quiet life that is thrown into turmoil when an uninvited stranger shows up at their door with a startling proposal.

The husband and wife reside on a secluded farm that has been operational for generations. Set in the near future, the farm is barely surviving due to climate conditions. A potential solution arises when a mysterious stranger named Terrance arrives to inform Junior that he has been chosen for a mission on an orbiting space station. Junior hesitates to leave his wife, but Terrance prepares the young couple for their inevitable separation. He does so through a contentious method involving artificial intelligence and a genuine examination of Junior and Hen’s relationship.

The outer space setting has always been associated with scientific exploration and offers a potential alternative for humanity to find another habitable home.
