Shortly after Shakira cleared her name over a tax probe, a new 2018 fraud case costing her $7 million emerged. The Spanish Government’s claims have forced the celebrity, worth about $300 million, to part with $27 million recently.

Shakira Settled Tax Fraud Cases Before A 2018 Case Emerged

Shakira’s tax probe is nothing new to her fans. Just last week, it was reported that she was up against the Spanish government and would have spent some years behind bars. However, the Hips Don’t Lie singer found an escape route, costing her $27 million.

This enabled her to avert jail term while poking for a lighter sentence. On top of the payment, she also conceded in court. After years of denial, the entire settlement and court appearance was for the tax evasion charges that piled up between 2012 and 2014.

Reportedly, the end of that tax fraud only brought to the limelight a new case against Shakira, and this time, the Spanish government probed into her 2018 tax file.

Shakira Pays Extra $ 7 Million For New Tax Fraud Case

According to El Periodico, Shakira’s 2018 tax fraud does not resemble the previous cases that were settled. While the singer might have averted the consequences of the former cases, she only made a deposit, and the influence of this sum is yet to be confirmed.

Shakira has put in $7.2million in the ongoing investigation. For now, sources do not know if the money is for a lighter sentence or to fade out the case. However, El Periodico explained using court documents that the former is what is likely at play. But let it be known that Shakira does not intend to own up to the charges by spending a few million.

One thing remains clear: the singer has paid about $ 34 million since deciding to tackle the tax problems against her.
