    Mother Charged With Abuse After 3 Children Were Left Stranded For Years In Filthy House

    A Michigan woman was charged with child abuse after leaving her three children to reside alone for years in a filthy house filled with trash and feces. 34-year-old Kelli Bryant is in custody and awaits a court hearing, per the New York Post. 

    The Oakland County prosecutor in suburban Detroit, Karen McDonald, said “These three kids were entrusted to the care of their mother … and the evidence suggests that she effectively abandoned them to a revolting pit of refuse and squalor.”

    McDonald went on to say, “What stands out the most for me is, no love… There was nobody there to care for them.”

    The siblings, a 15-year-old boy and two girls aged 12 and 13, were located hiding when officials entered their home in Pontiac. They responded to a call from the landlord, who hadn’t received rent since October.

    “Police were astonished to find anyone in the location, because it appeared to be uninhabitable with piles of garbage and refuse several feet high,” said the county prosecutor, adding that the toilet out of service. 

    The children were discovered covered in feces, and the girls had difficulty walking outside. In the hospital, they struggled with basic tasks like using the toilet and brushing their teeth because they haven’t done so for years. They likely lived alone since 2020 or 2021, contacting their mother only by text for food while she stayed 20 miles away.

    14-Year-Old Boy Fatally Stabbed At McDonald’s In Queens Following Brawl

    Sadly, a 14-year-old boy was fatally stabbed at a McDonald’s in Queens during a fight among teenagers on Friday afternoon, according to the NYPD. The boy, who has not been named, was struck multiple times in the abdomen around 3:30 p.m, per the New York Post.

    The boy was transported to Cornell Medical Center in critical condition and was later pronounced deceased. Officials are questioning two people; however, no one is in custody at this time, per police.

    Although a knife was recovered at the scene, it isn’t clear if that was the murder weapon.

    NYC Transportation Officials Warn Against E-ZPass Scam After Thousands Of Motorist Receive Sketchy Text

    “State transportation officials” in New YorkCity are alerting drivers about an E-ZPass scam that emerged after the MTA’s congestion pricing plan began last month. Scammers are sending fake texts about unpaid tolls, threatening excessive late fees if payment isn’t made. Yet, residents are advised to avoid this scam, per the New York Post. 

    According to an alert from the E-Z Pass website, “We have recently learned of a SMS text message scam being presented as an attempt to collect tolls for the Congestion Relief Zone, formally known as the Central Business District Tolling Program.” 

    The statement continued, “Some of these messages reference the ‘NY Toll Services’” while others are using other fictitious names..Please be advised this is NOT an authorized communication from EZPass or the toll agencies associated with EZPass.

    “We advise you NOT to access the website contained within the message if you should receive one,” it added. 

    The scam seems to be trying to take advantage of Governor Kathy Hochul’s congestion pricing plan that began on Jan. 5. If you’re unaware, this plan charges a $9 toll for cars entering Manhattan below 61st Street during busy hours. Scammers are now trying to trick drivers out of their money.

    Senior policy advisor for Keep NYC Congestion Tax Free, Corey Bearak, told The Post, “My hope was the MTA would issue a warning via email to all E-ZPass users to beware of scam texts and not click any such links.”

    13-Year-Old Wrote ‘Help Me!’ During Abduction and Now Her Kidnapper 35 Years Prison Behind Bars

    A Texas man has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars after abducting a 13-year-old girl in San Antonio, transporting her to California, threatening her with a firearm, and sexually assaulting her. He was apprehended back on July 9, 2023, outside a laundromat in Long Beach, according to the New York Post.

    The girl was rescued from her captor, who is now 63-year-old. The rescue occurred outside a laundromat in Long Beach. The teen wrote “Help Me!” in red ink on a torn paper while sitting in a silver Nissan Sentra, prompting a bystander to contact officials. When officers arrived, she silently mouthed “help,” and they luckily, freed her from the vehicle.

    Steven Robert Sablan from Cleburne, Texas, pleaded guilty to kidnapping in Jan. 2024. He has been in federal custody since the incident and has been “ordered to pay $1,158 in restitution,” according to authorities, reports say. 

    Joseph T. McNally Acting U.S. Atty. said, “The 35-year sentence imposed ensures this defendant will not have the opportunity to victimize children… There is nothing as important as protecting our young people. I commend our federal and local law enforcement partners for their efforts to secure justice here.”

    Sablan admitted to kidnapping the victim, who said she was 13, in San Antonio and driving her to Long Beach while using a gun to control her. During the trip to California, the girl was sexually assaulted.

The 36-year-old man was drinking on the platform when he was approached by officials, according to the New York Post. 

    While officers attempted to speak with the man, he broke a glass wine bottle and slashed one officer’s left hand with it, per officials. 

    When officers attempted to apprehend the drunk man, a struggle broke out, with the unnamed suspect biting one officer’s leg. He was later transported to a local hospital and is in custody facing charges. Both officers had minor injuries and are stable.

    Drunken Man Faces Charges After Accusing Neighbor’s Bible Study Session For ‘Human Trafficking Operation’

    A man from Virginia was apprehended for interrupting a Bible study while drunk. He claimed the group was involved in human trafficking. 48-year-old David Campbell entered a neighbor’s session, leading to a conflict that prompted officials to respond due to double-parking complaints, according to Fox 5. Reports noted that someone contacted officials due to this.

    Neighbors reported that Campbell confronted them inside their home, almost attacking an ordained minister and threatening another man. He accused the Bible study group of running a human trafficking operation and insisted that the authorities look into the matter.

    During the 911 call, dispatchers heard Campbell taunting and swearing at his neighbors. When officials got to his home, they found him in the street. He complained about his neighbor’s guests double-parking and insisted that the police identify everyone in the house.

    The incident was recorded on surveillance video, which hasn’t been made public. Campbell was charged with “breaking and entering, assault, and public intoxication.”

    A Florida dad was fatally shot on his birthday in front of his 1-year-old son amid a verbal disagreement with a stranger at a Walgreens. Anthony Souvenir, 27, confronted 28-year-old Jaime Taylor for staring at his girlfriend. According to the New York Post, Taylor was loading money to his Cash App as he had already been in the store for a few mins before the encounter. 

    Souvenir reportedly believed Taylor was “looking too hard” at his girlfriend and decided to confront him. After the brief confrontation between the two, Souvenir walked away, but he misinterpreted Taylor’s phone call as a comment aimed at him, officials said. 

    A police report said Souvenir’s girlfriend heard the shooter say, “I’m not even (expletive) talking to you, I’m on the (expletive) phone.” 

    They went back and forth before the confrontation began to elevate and Souvenir realized Taylor had a gun, which Souvenir then said, “I see you got one; I got one too.” 

    Feeling threatened by Souvenir’s comments, Taylor drew his gun but didn’t shoot initially. He fired the fatal shot when the dad reached for his bag. After fleeing, Taylor surrendered to Miramar police later. He was apprehended for second-degree murder and is held without bail at Broward County Jail.

    Remembering Anthony Souvenir

    The victim’s mother, Linda Souvenir, said in a GoFundMe to help pay for his burial, “Anthony was such a good son. He was very respectful and loving. His best quality was his big heart. He was thoughtful, alway putting other first. He was an amazing father. He loved his son and had big dreams for him.”

    Karate Coach Was Arrested After Being Accused Of Raping Teen Boy Inside Dojo Bathroom

    A karate instructor in Texas, 30-year-old William Propper, was arrested for reportedly raping a teenage male student in a dojo bathroom. The assault reportedly occurred at the Safety American Karate school during a summer camp in 2022 or 2023, as stated by local authorities, per an affidavit examined by PEOPLE.

    Propper told the 13 or 14-year-old student, at the time, that he was “mature enough” to “try out sex,” as per the affidavit. He also convinced the teen that the bathroom incident should remain a “secret.” The unidentified victim didn’t tell his family right away, as he recently told his mother, who contacted officials. Propper has been placed on leave from the dojo, per KHOU. 

    A statement read, “There has been an allegation made against an employee of Safety America resulting in his arrest. The employee has been placed on leave from Safety America pending the results of an investigation… We appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time.”

    Propper was apprehended by officials on Feb. 1 and later released on a $75,000 bond.

    Mother and Daughter Killed and Multiple Hurt After Tornado Hit Tennessee

    A mother and daughter lost their lives, and at least three others were hurt when a tornado hit eastern Tennessee on Thursday night, causing severe damage. The EF-2 tornado, with winds reaching 135 mph, struck Deer Lodge in Morgan County at approximately 8:30 p.m, per the New York Post. 

    On Friday morning, the agency confirmed that a mother and daughter who resided together were sadly, killed. The pair have yet to be identified. Three other individuals were injured. The storm also caused huge property damage and left hundreds of residents without power, as reported by WBIR.

    A statement by county officials said, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and loved ones of those affected by this tragic event…local, county, and state first responders, along with emergency personnel from multiple agencies and jurisdictions, are actively engaged in search and rescue operations and assessing individual safety.” 

    Tennessee Governor Bill Lee stated that the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency is assisting victims and evaluating the damage. He plans on visit the affected areas later. Morgan County has also established an emergency operations center.

    Sadly, a girl, who was just 6, was discovered dead in a filled bathtub at her Brooklyn residence on Friday. Officials are questioning her mother. The unnamed girl was discovered unconscious close to 1:30 p.m. in the bathtub, which was filled with water, and showed signs of possible struggle, including blood clots in her eyes, per the New York Post. 

    Sources suggest she could’ve been abandoned in the tub for about 20 minutes. The girl was transported to Brookdale University Medical Center, where she was declared deceased officials. 

    On Friday evening, investigators spoke with her mother, according to sources. Her father and grandfather were present at the house as well. Currently, no charges have been filed regarding the child’s death, and the city medical examiner’s office is looking into the unfortunate incident.
