  • 15-Year-Old Arrested After Reportedly Taking Subway On Joyride

15-Year-Old Arrested After Reportedly Taking Subway On Joyride

A 15-year-old boy with eight prior arrests was arrested Thursday for allegedly taking an empty train on a joyride through Brooklyn with friends last month. The NYPD’s Warrant Squad caught him at Vladeck Houses, charging him with reckless endangerment and other offenses, according to the New York Post

Two other teenagers were apprehended a few days earlier. This isn’t the boy’s first rodeo on the subway; he was previously apprehended back in March for reportedly hurling a wooden paddle at a passenger while hanging off a 5 train in the Bronx.

The victim was hit while walking down the subway stairs, sources reported. The teen has previous arrests for petty theft and possession of stolen property. However, he was most recently arrested after #NYPD released surveillance footage, which showed him and some other teens attempting to hide their identities. They made efforts to block the train’s camera with a black marker, and the subway went up to speeds of about 30 mph, traveling on active train lines.

It’s not clear how far the group traveled before getting off the train. They shared a video of their shenanigans on Instagram, sources say. As of Thursday, three other suspects are still at large.

Man Charged With Murder In Connection To The Disappearance Of Ex-Girlfriend

A man accused of lying to officials about his missing ex-girlfriend, Ashley Elkins, has been charged with murder. 30-year-old Elkins went missing from her Warren, Michigan home on Jan. 2. Her former boyfriend, DeAndre Booker, was apprehended on Jan. 8 after officials searched his closeby Roseville home, according to PEOPLE

Booker is now charged with premeditated murder, evidence tampering, dismembering a corpse, and concealing a death, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. Elkins’ body remains missing. Officials believe she went to Booker’s home on Jan. 2, where he reportedly murdered her and got rid of her body.

While searching Booker’s home, Roseville police discovered items suggesting Elkins was involved in a violent crime there, according to Lt. John Gajewski. In mid-January, police searched a landfill for days but found little. Elkins’ disappearance cultivated large searches by friends and family, and a GoFundMe raised over $13,000 for her sons.

The victim’s two sons, aged 7 and 10, are coping with her disappearance in their own unique ways.

Elkins’ 7-year-old son, who is on the autism spectrum, struggles to understand why his mother isn’t coming home. Meanwhile, her 10-year-old son experiences nightmares every day, as shared by Elkins’ uncle Maurice Morton.

Biggins pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter for the August 31, 2022, incident, according to online court records, PEOPLE reported.

  • Woman Claims She Was Cut Off From Social Circle After Laughing At Friend’s Cringe Baby Name

Woman Claims She Was Cut Off From Social Circle After Laughing At Friend’s Cringe Baby Name

A woman claims her friend group has rejected her after she laughed at the baby name chosen by her friend. She shared her story on Reddit about her best friend “K,” per PEOPLE

The shocked woman wrote in a Reddit post, “We’ve been talking about baby names for weeks, just throwing out ideas for fun… She even joked about some really insane names, and we laughed about how some people pick the most cringe stuff. So I thought we were on the same page about what was reasonable…..”

However, a couple of days ago, her bestie finally selected a name for her baby.

“And it’s something straight out of Genshin Impactor Skyrim,” said the redditor as she referred to two video games.

Although the woman doesn’t reveal her friend’s chosen name for privacy reasons, she mentioned it was similar to names like “Zephyr Rocket” or “Banjo Fox.”

“I honestly thought she was messing with me, so I laughed. Not like a mean laugh, just a genuine reaction like… wait.. shut up, what is the real name?,” she wrote.

“But nope. That was the real name. She got super quiet and was like.. that is the name. I could tell immediately I messed up, so I tried to backpedal, but she looked kinda hurt and changed the subject. Later, a mutual friend told me she was upset and thought I was being rude,” the post added.

The woman feels left out by her friend group after finding out she wasn’t invited to a recent gathering, subsequently realizing that she has been cut out.

“Literally everyone else was there. I found out after the fact, and its hard not to feel like its bc of the baby name thing,” the woman wrote.

“I really didn’t mean to be rude, I just genuinely thought she was joking based on our past Convos,” she went on to say.

Astronaut Whose Been Stuck In Space Since June Reveals She’s Been ‘Trying To Remember What It’s Like To Walk’

Suni Williams, the astronaut who has been in space since June, shared her experiences. She spoke to students at Needham High School from the International Space Station on Jan. 27, according to CBS affiliate WBZ-TV, PEOPLE reported.

The women became candid, saying, “I’ve been up here long enough right now I’ve been trying to remember what it’s like to walk.“

“I haven’t walked. I haven’t sat down. I haven’t laid down. You don’t have to. You can just close your eyes and float where you are right here,” she confessed.

If you’re unaware, 59-year-old Williams and 61-year-old NASA astronaut Butch Wilmore have been stuck at the ISS since June 2024 because of mechanical issues with their spacecraft, which returned home without them. Williams described her long stay in space as “a little bit of a shock.”

“We knew that it would be probably a month or so, honestly. But the extended stay was just a little bit different,” per WBZ-TV.

Williams and Wilmore are expected to return to Earth in spring 2025, as NASA announced their spacecraft won’t launch until late March. They’ve surprisingly celebrated several holidays in space.

Williams and Wilmore also voted in the 2024 U.S. elections from space, which Wilmore said was made “very easy” by NASA. The Dragon capsule for their return arrived in September 2024. NASA has stated that it is collaborating with SpaceX to finish preparing the Dragon spacecraft for the upcoming mission.

“We appreciate the hard work by the SpaceX team to expand the Dragon fleet in support of our missions and the flexibility of the station program and expedition crews as we work together to complete the new capsule’s readiness for flight,” said the manager of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program, Steve Stich.
