Colorado Funeral Director Sentenced To 18 Months Behind Bars After Hiding Woman’s Corpse In Hearse For 18 Months

A Colorado funeral home owner, 34-year-old , Miles Harford was sentenced to 18 months behind bars for leaving a woman’s corpse in a hearse for over a year and improperly storing the ashes of at least 30 people. He pleaded guilty to abusing a corpse and theft, with other charges dropped.

The New York Post reports that he received the maximum sentence allowed by Colorado law for his charges.

“Nothing will ever undo the terrible pain that Miles Harford caused so many families, but it is our hope that this sentence will provide the family and friends of the deceased with some measure of justice… Harford systematically and shockingly violated his professional and moral obligations, and, for that, he is now being held accountable,” John Walsh, the Denver District Attorney said on Monday.

Harford was apprehended last year after officials discovered the body of 63-year-old #ChristinaRosales, who died from Alzheimer’s, in his hearse, covered with blankets. Her remains had been there for about 18 months. He deceived her relatives by giving them the ashes of another person instead. Officials also discovered other remains hidden in boxes at his rental property. Prosecutors noted that he treated the bodies in a disrespectful manner.

Mother Reported Her 3-Year-Old Missing After Claiming She Was Abducted, But Now Officials Believe It Was A Lie

An Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old girl has been canceled. Delaware officials are now treating the case as a homicide. Nola Dinkins was reported missing on June 10 by her mother, who is accused of giving inaccurate news to the officials during their initial investigation, per PEOPLE.

According to a statement, “Nola’s mother advised that she had pulled over after Nola became upset and was attempting to comfort her when an unknown White male armed with a handgun approached the vehicle and took Nola.”

The mother said the suspect escaped in a dark SUV allegedly driven by a White woman, says police. Following this, an #AmberAlert was issued for the toddler, and law enforcement, including the FBI, worked through the night to investigate the incident.

“As a result of that investigation, detectives determined the initial account of the incident given by the mother was false… The Amber Alert is now canceled, and there is no danger to the public,” officials said.

Teen Arrested For Driving At 132 MPH, Says He Couldn’t Stop Because ‘He Was Late For A Job Interview’

A man learned the hard way that he should give himself enough time for a job interview after being chased by officials and later apprehended for speeding. Azmir Djurkovic, 19, turned himself in to Connecticut State officials after they caught him going over 130 MPH on Interstate 91 South, per PEOPLE.

A cop saw a Mercedes E300 speeding faster than the traffic flow. The officer estimated it was going over 100 MPH, then later confirmed at about 132 MPH. Hungry 150-Pound Bear Broke Into Nursing Home and Got Attacked With Walker Before Being Lured Out With Rice Krispies Treats

It looks like a starving black bear entered a nursing home near Pittsburgh, causing chaos. A caretaker had to hit the bear with a walker while other staffers attempted to lure it out with Rice Krispies treats, according to workers’ reports on Friday, according to the New York Post.

“I grabbed a walker and was hitting him, trying to get him away from the residents,” Charlene Elliot, a nursing assistant informed CBS news.

“I thought] he’s going to maul them or swipe, slap at them. That was my worst fear,” she added.

A young bear broke through a window at St. Andrew’s Village in Indiana, Pennsylvania, around 11 p.m. Tuesday and went straight to an elderly resident’s bed, per Elliott. “I was at the nurse’s station when I heard a loud crash and thought, ‘Get it out of here!’” Elliott said.

The bear ran down a hallway and entered several bedrooms, nearly coming face-to-face with an elderly resident, Elliott claimed. “He could have attacked with one swipe,” Elliott said. He instructed everyone to close the doors. One resident even tried to lure the bear out with a sandwich; however, Elliott declined.

Luckily, employees were able to chase the bear out of the retirement home by tempting it with Rice Krispies treats. The bear, who weighs 150 pounds, was inside for approximately 15 minutes, and luckily, no one was injured. Wildlife officials later caught the bear using a trap baited with donuts.

  • Man Sentenced To Life After Severing Spine Of Ex-Girlfriend’s Toddler Daughter Days After She Broke Up With Him

Man Sentenced To Life After Severing Spine Of Ex-Girlfriend’s Toddler Daughter Days After She Broke Up With Him

A man from Florida received a life sentence for murdering a 2-year-old girl in his care by severing her spine. This occurred a mere week after her mother broke up with him. The jury took almost two hours to convict 27-year-old Travis Ray Thompson of first-degree murder for Jacklyn Schwingel’s death, according to PEOPLE.

On May 2, 2022, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to child abuse when a 2-year-old girl was taken to the emergency room in critical condition. Despite efforts to save her, Jacklyn was sadly pronounced dead. Her mother had left her with Thompson just before the incident.

The mother said that when she got there, Jacklyn was unresponsive, with a weak pulse and a swollen stomach. Both she and Thompson drove Jacklyn to a nearby hospital when she stopped breathing. Thompson was told to call 911, and an ambulance arrived at a nearby business to transport the toddler for treatment.

In an interview with officials, Thompson said he was in another room when he heard a loud noise and located Jacklyn unresponsive. He claimed he didn’t know how she got hurt. On Sept. 1, 2022, the Medical Examiner reported that Jacklyn passed away from severe injuries, including a severed spine and internal bleeding.

The Medical Examiner’s Office found that Thompson used a lot of force on Jacklyn’s upper and lower body, bending her backward beyond what was normal for her. This excessive pressure caused her back to break, according to their statement.

“This monster stole the life of an innocent child, and today, the justice system made sure he will never walk free again… Life in prison is too good for this kind of evil,” said State Attorney for the Fifth Judicial Bill Gladson.

Man Sentenced To 30 Years Behind Bars After Sexually Assaulting 6 Of His Adopted Children

A man from East Texas received a 30-year prison sentence after admitting to sexually assaulting his adopted children. In 2018, the Wood County Sheriff’s Office started looking into Kevin Ray Larsson when one of his adopted kids said he had abused her at just 5 years old, according to KETK Tyler.

After pleading guilty, Larsson was sentenced to 30 years behind bars and fined $2,800. He is banned from contacting his nine adopted children, who are protected by a lifetime order. He must also register as a sex offender. Angela Albers, the Wood County District Attorney highlighted the case’s tragic impact on the victims.

Alberts said, “This case is a horrible tragedy for these children. They were adopted by this man and he was supposed to care for, provide for, and nurture them—instead, he turned into a monster and committed heinous actions against them that they are still suffering the effects of to this day. My office had numerous conversations with the victims and the victims’ mother and discussed the probability of the children being retraumatized by the effects of having to testify against the Defendant in a jury trial.”
