    FBI Investigating Racist Text Messages Targeting Young Black People Across The Country

    The FBI is currently investigating claims of racist text messages being circulated to individuals across the nation, following Donald Trump‘s election victory, per WSBTV. 

    One message sent to a 13-year-old in the metro Atlanta area read,

    “Hello. I am one of Donald Trump’s associates and your cotton-picking sessions are from 6 am to 8 pm. You’d be dropped out of school and be a full-time cotton picker making 75 cents an hour, sounds good?”

    Numerous similar messages have been reported across the country.

    The young boy told a local reporter from WSBTV that he was scared when he got the text,

    “That I was going to get picked up out of school and have to pick cotton in slavery,”

    he said. Law enforcement agencies are now investigating similar cases in Alabama, Virginia, South Carolina, and metro Atlanta.

    Another mass message was sent out that read:

    “Greetings. You have been selected to pick cotton at the nearest plantation. Be ready at 12AM NOVEMBER 13 SHARP with your belongings. Our executive slaves will come get you on a bus. Be prepared to be searched down once you’ve entered the plantation. You are in Plantation Group B.”

    An FBI spokesperson said that Washington officials at the national headquarters have been informed.

    “The FBI is aware of the offensive and racist text messages sent to individuals around the country and is in contact with the Justice Department and other federal authorities on the matter. As always, we encourage members of the public to report threats of physical violence to local law enforcement authorities.”

    ‘RHOSLC’ Star Monica Garcia Ordered To Pay $35K To Heather Gay’s Beauty Lab For ‘Failing To Pay Lip Injection Bill’

    A Utah judge has ruled in favor of Heather Gay’s Beauty Lab, ordering former

    “Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”

    star Monica Garcia to pay the med spa $35,000, per Page Six. This comes after Beauty Lab sued Garcia for not paying her lip injection bill from 2023. 

    Court documents show that Beauty Lab filed a judgment request on October 22, which the judge approved and finalized on November 4, making Garcia responsible for a total of $35,853.60. This amount includes the original bill of $2,000 for her service, plus 18 percent interest per year from 2020 to 2024, which adds $1,683.62. Garcia also has to cover $604.98 in costs and fees from the lawsuit and pay Beauty Lab’s attorney’s fees, totaling $31,550.

    “Plaintiff is entitled to recover all future collection costs, court costs, and attorney’s fees incurred in enforcing and collecting this judgment,”

    the documents allegedly stated, adding that Gay’s med spa can also collect 18 percent interest on the amount owed until the payment is completely paid off.

    Garcia, who is not happy with the judge’s order, filed a response saying the amount is

    “greatly excessive”

    compared to

    “the amount in dispute in this action.”

    The judge rejected her attorney Larry Reed’s request.

    “An appeal will be filed. We are confident,”

    Reed told the outlet in a statement. Reed shared with the outlet that Gay’s Beauty Lab, which has two locations in Utah, sued Monica in August of last year for breaking their contract and not acting in good faith. 

    In reply, Garcia countersued the med spa, saying they

    “botched“

    her nose and lip injections. In her filing, Garcia stated that she only paid a $400 down payment and a $49 setup fee for the cosmetic services. She claimed that the filler was

    “negligently given”

    and

    “did not have the intended, promised result.”

    When the med spa offered to fix the issues, Garcia chose to go to another place for corrections instead. Along with attorney fees, interest, and other remedies, she asked the court for an amount under $50,000 for

    “consequential damages,”

    which will be decided at trial.

    Man Dies After Being ‘Buried Under Hot Asphalt’ While Trying To ‘Fix’ Dump Truck

    A Mississippi man tragically lost his life after being

    “buried under hot asphalt”

    in what police have called a

    “tragic”

    accident, PEOPLE reported. 

    Officers from the Jackson Police Department were called to AJ Materials on Monday, November 4, at around 10:30 a.m., according to Chief Joseph Wade in a press conference shared on Facebook. The man involved has been identified as 41-year-old Darrell Sheriff, per the Associated Press.

    “Upon arrival, they located a individual who had been buried under a hot asphalt,”

    Wade told reporters about the man, who is reportedly a private contractor.

    “It appeared to be some type of malfunction with his dump truck, the vehicle that he was there to pick up asphalt with,”

    the police chief explained, adding that Sheriff tried to

    “fix”

    the vehicle, and it

    “unloaded”

    the hot material

    “onto him.”

    The police chief confirmed that they are still investigating, but added that

    “it appears to be an accidental death at this particular time.”

    “There was some individuals on scene who tried to help him,”

    Wade recalled in the conference.

    “They said he tried to fight to make it through those injuries, but they were just too enormous for him to survive.”

    Wade added that

    “Seeing him was one thing, but actually talking to the family members and their hurt, their pain, their shock…,”

    left an impact.

    “This Monday morning, people are just going to work, they don’t want to hear about a family member who has lost his life, as they stated to me, just simply trying to make a living.”

    Teen Accused Of Halloween Mass Shooting In Orlando Will Be Charged As An Adult

    A 17-year-old, Jaylen Dwayne Edgar,  is to be charged as an adult for the shooting in downtown Orlando during a Halloween event, according to State Attorney Andrew Bain. The shooting, which happened on November 1, resulted in the deaths of two men and injuries to seven others, as reported by WFTV9. 

    Bain mentioned that more charges would also be filed against the teen. He is currently in jail without bond after waiving his first court appearance over the weekend.

    Around 1 a.m., while about 75,000 people were celebrating Halloween, police got a call about a shooting near East Central Boulevard and North Orange Avenue. Soon after, they received another report of shots fired south of Washington Street on North Orange Avenue. In total, nine people were shot, and one more person was trampled in the commotion. 

    The next day, police announced that the two men who died were 25-year-old Tyrek Hill and 19-year-old Timothy Schmidt Jr. Bain described Edgar’s actions as

    “egregious”

    and showing a

    “true disregard for life,”

    which prompted the decision to charge him as an adult.

    Man Sentenced For The Murder Of A Father Of 8 Who He Shot For Petting His Dog, Reports Say

    A husband and father of eight who was murdered in front of his wife for petting a neighbor’s dog in San Antonio, has finally received justice. His killer was sentenced to a minimum of 20 years in prison on Wednesday, reports Law & Crime. 

    On December 30, 2021, 28-year-old Valentin Gonzales IV and his wife, Brittney Clark-Gonzales, saw a dog without a leash roaming outside their apartment complex and decided to pet it. Shortly after, 21-year-old Jordan Eaton came out, angry and armed with a gun. He yelled at the couple, tried to shoot Brittney, and ended up fatally shooting Valentin as he tried to protect her.

    Brittney Clark-Gonzales tearfully recalled the aftermath of the shooting stating that Eaton told them

    “You can’t touch my dog! I don’t f— with you, I don’t f— with any of you,”

    local ABC affiliate KSAT reported. 

    Eaton fled the scene after the shooting and later said he acted in self-defense. However, witness videos showed him shooting at Clark-Gonzales while Valentin threw a punch at him in reaction. During the trial, Eaton said he had

    “previous issues”

    with the couple and tried to ignore them, but petting the dog made him lose control.

    “I just wanted them to leave me alone,”

    he reportedly said.

    “I didn’t want to shoot nobody.”

    Eaton shot Valentin Gonzales, and a jury in Bexar County found him guilty of murder. He was also found guilty of aggravated assault for shooting at Clark-Gonzales. Eaton’s family asked for a lighter sentence so he could have a second chance and be part of his son’s life. In the end, Eaton was sentenced to 20 years in prison for Gonzales’s murder and 10 years probation for the attack on Clark-Gonzales.

    Father Allegedly Strangled 5-Year-Old Son After Thinking About Doing It For A Week Before Child’s Murder

    An Iowa father killed his 5-year-old son by strangling him after thinking about doing it for about a week, according to the police, per Law & Crime. Matthew Gerald Schleier, 45, is facing a charge of first-degree murder. The boy’s mother reportedly told emergency responders,

    “His dad strangled him.”

    Schleier also allegedly confessed to the police officer who asked him if what his wife said was true.

    Police responded to a 911 call about an unresponsive child at a home on Willowbrook Drive in Marion around 6 a.m., according to a criminal complaint from Cedar Rapids-based ABC affiliate KCRG. The caller said the boy

    “wasn’t breathing and was warm to the touch,”

    according to the complaint. Firefighters tried to save 5-year-old Jack Schleier, but unfortunately, they were unsuccessful. 

    He was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. The father, Matthew Schleier, reportedly told investigators that he had thought about using knives to kill his child. When police searched the home, they found several knives that could have been used as murder weapons, confirming his “premeditated” desire to kill his boy, according to a complaint obtained by local newspaper The Gazette. At the time of the incident, there were two other adults and another child in the house, but they were unharmed.

    On Wednesday, the father appeared in Linn County District Court on a video. The father is currently in the Linn County Jail with a bond set at $1 million, which must be paid in cash.

    Details about what happened leading up to the child’s death are unclear. Besides the father’s reported thoughts of wanting to harm his son, police have not shared any motive behind the murder.

    Three members of a South Carolina family will face several years in prison for the abuse, neglect, and murder of their severely disabled sister and daughter, according to Law & Crime. Heather Baynard, who was 14, died at Spartanburg Medical Center on April 11, 2022. The following day, police searched the Baynard home.

    When police arrived, they noticed a strong smell of urine and feces in the house. Heather, who suffered from cerebral palsy was kept in

    “deplorable conditions, specifically filled with garbage, infested with roaches, and covered in animal urine and feces, including the crib in which [she] lived,”

    deputies wrote. During a four-day trial this week, 7th Circuit Solicitor Barry J. Barnette told jurors that animal waste broke down Heather’s skin and tissues, per Spartanburg’s CBS affiliate WSPA.

    In May 2022, Heather’s parents, David Baynard, 55, and Bobbie Jo Baynard, 44, were charged with her murder. Later, her brother, Edward Vincent Baynard, 22, was also charged with murder and other crimes related to the poor conditions in their home. Edward was a registered respite nurse and a certified personal care assistant for his sister. Heather required daily medical care however, her needs had been neglected for more than a year, Fowler told the jurors.

    After Heather’s death, over 40 animals were rescued from their home by the South Carolina Enforcement Division. 

    The jury found Heather’s mother, father, and brother guilty of murder, unlawful conduct towards a child, and causing great bodily injury to a child. The parents were given life sentences for murder, 20 years for causing great bodily injury to a child, and 10 years for neglecting a child. The brother received a 30-year sentence for murder, 20 years for great bodily injury to a child, and 10 years for unlawful neglect of a child.

    The Henry County Police are searching for a man who took a package worth $600 from a porch last month, per WSBTV. 

    On October 18, around 1 p.m., a man approached a house on Great Oaks Branch in Stockbridge and stole a package that had a new massage chair worth about $600. 

    The police describe the suspect as a white man, 5 feet 10 inches tall with long hair. He seemed to have arrived in a white box truck, took the package, and then drove away.

    Police in Florida have released body camera footage of a Sarasota officer hitting 8-year-old Gerard Butler on a dirt bike with his patrol car, reports Law & Crime. 

    “You just hit my f—ing nephew!”

    a man can be heard yelling on a video that was posted online by the Sarasota Police Department on Wednesday. In the video, other witnesses rushed in and started yelling at the officer, whose name has not been released.

    “You’re dead a– wrong,”

    another person could be heard saying to the officer.

    “You’re dead a– wrong!”

    Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche explained in a video statement what happened that Monday evening in the city, noting that the crash is currently being investigated.

    “The collision occurred around 6:30 in the evening… The officer was leaving the scene of a separate call for service when the child entered the intersection in front of the officer’s vehicle,”

    Troche explained.

    “We cannot imagine how difficult this is for his family,”

    Troche said.

    “Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”

    The victim was taken to a hospital. He was treated for serious injuries that needed two brain surgeries, knee surgery, and jaw surgery.

    He had just received the dirt bike as an early birthday gift over the weekend, according to Tampa CBS affiliate WTSP.

    Sarasota police are working with the Florida Highway Patrol to investigate the incident. Officials say the officer involved has been put on restricted administrative duty and will stay in that position until the investigation is finished. It’s not clear if the officer was speeding when the crash happened.

    Woman Who Pepper Sprayed A Muslim Uber Driver For No Reason Charged With Hate Crime

    A young woman was indicted for a hate crime after she pepper-sprayed a Muslim Uber driver in Manhattan during the summer, the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office said, per NY Post. 

    Jennifer Guilbeault, 23, was charged in New York State Supreme Court with two counts of assault as a hate crime and aggravated harassment for the unprovoked attack, which happened without on July 31. The incident took place near Lexington Avenue and East 66th Street, as stated by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg. 

    The driver, Shohel Mahmud, later said that Guilbeault attacked him because of his skin color.

    “Her friend, she is yelling, ‘Jen, Jen, what the f–k, what are you doing? What’s going on?’”

    Mahmud told The Post days after the attack.

    “Her friend is asking ‘Why did you do that?’ And she say, ‘He’s brown.’” 

    Guilbeault was sitting in the backseat with another woman around 12:15 a.m. when she suddenly sprayed the harmful substance in the 45-year-old driver’s eyes, as shown in videos shared on social media. The driver, Mahmud, said he hadn’t talked to the women when he picked them up in Midtown. Bragg mentioned that Guilbeault attacked the driver when he started praying in Arabic as they approached a red light. 

    At the time Mahmud believed the women were trying to rob him and jumped out of the car. When the car started moving slowly without him, he got back inside, and Guilbeault sprayed him again. Police arrested Guilbeault at the scene but initially only gave her a ticket. Her lawyer argued that the incident shouldn’t be considered a hate crime.

    “Ms. Guilbeault was not motivated by race, religion, national origin, or any other discriminatory factor,”

    Michael J. Alber said in a statement. Her next court date is scheduled for January 13.
