  • Her Real Name Is ‘Marijuana Pepsi’ But She Does Not Drink Pepsi and She Does Not Smoke Weed

Her Real Name Is ‘Marijuana Pepsi’ But She Does Not Drink Pepsi and She Does Not Smoke Weed

Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck, 52, is a powerhouse of knowledge with a PhD in Higher Educational Leadership. Yes, you read that right—her name is Marijuana Pepsi! She was given her unique name by her mother who had a bold vision, wanting her daughter to stand out and be a

    “force in the world,”

    she stated.

Dr. Vandyck often faces the curious stares and raised eyebrows of folks wondering if her mom was a party animal or a lawbreaker.

“I would overhear people speculating if my mother was a ‘crackhead’ – I still have people say that to this day,”

she revealed. However, her mother was neither.

She would also get asked why she hasn’t changed her name but noted that she takes pride in it no matter how unconventional.

“It’s my superpower because I don’t have to live within the expectations of others – people think things about me based on my name but I define success on my own terms.”

Despite her impressive credentials, Marijuana has encountered hurdles thanks to her one-of-a-kind name. She’s been passed over for jobs, and people frequently shy away from saying her name, opting for the safe route with nicknames like

    “Mary”

to which she would correct them.

“I won’t answer to a different name to appease someone who is clearly in their head about what they think it means to call me my own,”

    she told the outlet.

“It’s a problem, but it’s not my problem.”

Marijuana is a boy mom and works at Community College of Baltimore County. She is also the founder of Action as Empowerment Center for Change.

“I always knew I would get a PhD as I’ve dedicated my life to education – and I thought if people would be calling me Marijuana Pepsi, I’ll be Dr Marijuana Pepsi.”

She also reveals that she does not indulge in marijuana use and isn’t a fan of fizzy drinks.

“People don’t believe me when I say I’ve never smoked weed… I just get high on life.”

  • US To Deliver Over $300 Million In Aid To Palestinians In Gaza and The West Bank

US To Deliver Over $300 Million In Aid To Palestinians In Gaza and The West Bank

The United States has revealed that it is providing almost $336 million in extra humanitarian aid for Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, as stated by the U.S. Agency for International Development per Reuters

This funding will enable USAID’s partners to continue providing essential services such as food, healthcare, nutrition, and other forms of support. It will also assist with emergency shelter for people in Gaza who have been displaced, especially with winter approaching.

“Over the last year, this conflict has cost the lives of innocent Palestinians and Israelis and has left Gaza and the West Bank in a state of humanitarian crisis and dire humanitarian need,”

    the statement said.

“The United States continues to call on all parties to agree to a ceasefire deal and an immediate release of hostages…”

The war between Israel and Palestine erupted on October 7 when Hamas militants attacked Israeli communities, leading to around 1,200 deaths and 250 hostages taken to Gaza.

In response, Israel’s military has bombed the Palestinian enclave, displacing nearly all of its 2.3 million residents and causing over 41,000 deaths. Hunger and disease have plagued the Palestinian people, according to Palestinian health officials. Despite efforts by the U.S., Qatar, and Egypt to broker a ceasefire and secure the hostages’ release, progress remains stalled.

A USAID spokesperson said that while aid continues to reach Gaza, significant “barriers” have prevented

“necessary scaling of assistance to adequately meet the needs of the 2.3 million people in urgent need of humanitarian assistance.”

The U.N. has highlighted the difficulties of delivering aid in Gaza amid

    “total lawlessness,”

with nearly 300 humanitarian workers killed, and over two-thirds of them being U.N. staff.

Murder Suspect At Large In Atlanta After Breaking Out Of Detention Facility, Police Say

A man wanted for murder is on the run in Atlanta after escaping from a detention center at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to 11 Alive. Carwon Marquavious Redding, 32, got away from the Atlanta City Detention Center while waiting for medical treatment at Grady, as reported by Atlanta police.

He was last seen wearing a hospital gown and yellow socks. Police believe Redding likely changed his clothes soon after escaping, but they urge anyone who finds the gown or socks to call 911 right away. Redding faces charges of felony murder and criminal attempt to sell cocaine, police said. He was arrested by MARTA police on Thursday, more than five months after a shooting that led to these charges.

The shooting occurred on April 14 at 1980 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway. When officers arrived, they found two men with gunshot wounds. Both were taken to the hospital, with one in critical condition who later died.

Initially, no arrests were made, but over the following months, three men were charged. On May 24, 34-year-old Jaquelynn McCleskey was arrested in Douglasville and charged with felony murder, attempting to buy cocaine, and a gun-related charge. He was later moved to Fulton County on June 4. The second suspect, 38-year-old Tyrus Pippin, was arrested on June 7 in North Georgia and faced similar charges. He was also transferred to Fulton County on June 10.

Redding was the last suspect arrested in this case. Although he was taken into custody on Thursday, he was never officially booked into the Fulton jail. He escaped on Friday and is still at large. Officers are searching the areas around Grady.

  • Florida Doctor License Suspended For Allegedly Removing The Wrong Organ From A Patient, Resulting In Death

Florida Doctor License Suspended For Allegedly Removing The Wrong Organ From A Patient, Resulting In Death

A doctor in Florida has had his medical license suspended after being accused of taking out an Alabama man’s liver instead of his spleen, which led to his immediate death, per NY Post.

The Florida Surgeon General, Joseph Ladapo, filed an emergency order on September 24, accusing Thomas J. Shakvovsky of

    “repeated egregious surgical errors”

    and

“egregious conduct of fabricating medical records”

relating to the death of 70-year-old William Bryan on August 21.

Before the incident, Shakvovsky was working as an Osteopathic Physician at Ascension Sacred Heart Emerald Coast Hospital. Bryan and his wife, Beverly, were in Florida for a visit when he started feeling pain in his lower left abdomen. They went to a hospital in Miramar Beach, where doctors were worried about his spleen and decided to admit him for more tests. However, Bryan refused

    “surgical intervention.”

Tests showed a possibly enlarged spleen and some blood in his abdomen, but there were no active hemorrhage reports revealed. According to the order, Shakvovsky kept insisting on a laparoscopic splenectomy (spleen removal surgery) on three consecutive days, even though Bryan wanted to go back home to Alabama. Eventually, Bryan agreed to the surgery after Shakvovsky pointed out a slight drop in his hemoglobin levels, which was only minor during his hospital stay.

The surgery was set for 4 p.m. on August 21, but the operating room staff noted that it was being done with very few professionals available to assist.

“Staff had concerns that Dr. Shaknovsky did not have the skill level to safely perform this procedure,”

    the surgeon general’s order noted.

The doctor claims he began to cut the ligaments connecting to what he thought was the spleen. However, it turned out to be the liver. He then found a blood vessel he said he could feel pulsing and used a stapling device to staple the vessel. This resulted in major hemorrhaging and led Bryan to go into cardiac arrest. The hospital staff started suctioning out blood and prepared for an emergency blood transfusion as a

    “code”

was called, and they performed CPR.

The staff tried to revive the victim. However, Shakvovsky kept working inside the abdomen without asking for help and ended up removing a 4.6-pound liver.

“The staff looked at the readily identifiable liver on the table and were shocked when Dr. Shaknovsky told them it was the spleen. One staff member ‘felt sick to their stomach,’”

a witness in the operating room said.

Bryan was declared dead, and Shakvovsky stated that he died from a splenic artery aneurysm.

“The staff in the room felt that Dr. Shaknovsky was attempting to convince them that this is what occurred, even though they witnessed something different.”

Bryan’s death was ruled a homicide due to

    “liver removed during splenectomy,”

Zarzaur Law P.A., the family’s lawyers wrote on Facebook. Bryan’s family plans to file a malpractice lawsuit.

  • Florida Mother Accused Of Creating Child Sexual Abuse Material Involving Her Toddler For A Stranger Online

Florida Mother Accused Of Creating Child Sexual Abuse Material Involving Her Toddler For A Stranger Online

A Florida woman is in jail after she confessed to making child sexual content involving her toddler for a stranger she met online in exchange for money, according to authorities per Law & Crime

Jenna Ann Hoffmann, 21, faces several serious charges, including child cruelty for promoting sexual acts, molestation of a child under 12, having sexual performance material with the intent to promote it, using a communication device to commit a crime, and theft, as reported by the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.

When asked about what happened, the mother reportedly told investigators that she agreed to make the illegal videos for money, which she never received. On September 23, the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office received a

    “tip”

about child sexual abuse material from a well-known social media platform and shared it with the agency that made the arrest, as stated in a press release.

“The digital files depicted a female performing sex acts with a toddler,”

the sheriff’s office said. Within a few hours, investigators reportedly arrested the adult involved living at an address on Snow Memorial Highway in Brooksville, a small town about 80 miles west of Orlando. When detectives arrived, they first spoke to a family member. After showing this family member a still image from one of the abuse videos, they quickly recognized the child as Hoffman’s 23-month-old toddler.

After being read her rights, the defendant reportedly admitted to sexually abusing her child, according to the sheriff’s office.

“Hoffman stated she was speaking with a stranger on social media who advised they would pay her to produce and send sexual videos involving her son,”

    the press release continues.

“Hoffman said she made the videos at her residence and sent them but did not receive payment for the videos.”

Hoffman was arrested and is now being held without bond at the Hernando County Detention Center.

  • Mother Accused Of Forcing 13-Year-Old Daughter To Lie To Police After Shooting Her In The Neck

Mother Accused Of Forcing 13-Year-Old Daughter To Lie To Police After Shooting Her In The Neck

A 32-year-old woman is in jail in Maryland for allegedly shooting her daughter and then telling her to lie about what happened, as reported by Complex. The woman, Talecka Brown, has been charged with first-degree attempted murder.

The police said they responded to a call at her home on Tuesday afternoon and found a 13-year-old girl injured. Brown’s daughter, was

“suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body,”

police reported. NBC4 Washington reported that the teenager suffered a gunshot wound in her neck and is in critical but stable condition at a local hospital.

Court records from Prince George’s County District Court show that Brown has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, first-degree murder, and using a gun during a crime. She is currently in jail without bond, and a preliminary hearing is set for October 25.

“It is always tragic when we have acts of violence within our community, but it is heart-wrenching when the perpetrator is supposed to be your protector,”

Cedric Heyward, Acting Chief of the Seat Pleasant Police Department, said in a news release.

“I am glad to hear that the victim is recovering at a local hospital, but the emotional trauma will remain for some time.”

According to a local NBC report, the victim said she and her mother started arguing when she got home from school. The argument turned physical, and the girl told the police that she heard gunshots while walking down the stairs, at which point she fell. It’s alleged that Brown told her daughter to lie and say an intruder did it. Later, Brown reportedly blamed an unknown homeless person for the shooting.

After Brown’s arrest, prosecutors mentioned a call she made from jail, expressing concern that she might influence her daughter as the case goes on.

Kansas Dad Shoots Wife In The Chest While Dropping Kids Off To Elementary School, Reports Say

A father in Kansas shot his wife in the chest during a

    “domestic dispute”

while dropping their kids off at elementary school, causing the school to go into lockdown, per the NY Post.

After dropping off their children at Cessna Elementary School in Wichita on Monday morning, the man reportedly shot his wife in the chest. Classes at the school start at 9 a.m., and the police were called at 9:15 a.m. about the shooting. Witnesses saw the man pull out a gun and shoot his wife near the Lyft ride they had ordered to take their family to school.

“She then ran toward the school for help. He chased her,”

Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter told KAKE News.

“At the point that our deputy arrived, he had the gun pointing at her head.”

Easter reported that the deputy took cover until the man moved far enough away from the woman, and then fired two shots at him. The man was arrested and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The woman is also in critical condition.

School staff quickly brought all the children inside and locked down the building. Police informed the community that there was no active shooter threat in the elementary school.

“This is a [domestic violence]-related shooting that happened outside the school. There was no school shooting whatsoever,”

Easter told local outlet, Wichita Eagle.

“Unfortunately, sometimes these things manifest around neighborhoods where there are schools […] I know for parents it can be scary. But the fact of the matter is law enforcement showed up within two minutes of the shooting coming out, and it never got into the school itself where the kids were in danger.”
