  • 73-Year-Old Man Who Was Kidnapped As A 6-Year-Old From A California Park Found Safe and Health

73-Year-Old Man Who Was Kidnapped As A 6-Year-Old From A California Park Found Safe and Health

A boy who was kidnapped over 70 years ago from a park in California has been found alive and healthy as an elderly man, reports NPR News. He was reunited with his family after his niece used DNA research to locate him, according to police. Luis Albino was just 6 years old when he was taken on February 2, 1951, from Jefferson Park Playground in Oakland

“by an unknown female who transported him out of state and eventually to the East Coast,”

    police said in a statement.

Despite efforts to find him at the time, the search was unsuccessful, and the case remained unsolved for many years. Earlier this year, Albino’s niece visited the Oakland police and shared

“that her online DNA test results matched an individual believed to be her uncle,”

police said. Following this, FBI agents, at the request of the Oakland police, interviewed Albino at his home on the East Coast and collected a DNA sample. The results matched with two of his surviving siblings in California, confirming that Albino was indeed the boy who was kidnapped in 1951.

The FBI, California Department of Justice, and Oakland police worked together to arrange and cover the costs for Albino to reunite with his family on June 24 of this year.

“It was an emotional moment for all parties involved and was a family reunion over 70 years in the making,”

    police said.

The Oakland Police Department did not specify who they think took Albino from the park all those years ago or who raised him. Reports did not specify whether Albino was aware of his abduction due to his young age at the time. Albino’s mother, who was 92, passed away in 2005 without ever knowing what happened to her kidnapped son, according to the Bay Area News Group.

This summer, Albino got to meet and spend time with his brother Roger, who was with him at the park on the day he was taken in 1951. Sadly, Roger passed away in August.

    “I think he died happily,”

63-year-old niece Alida Alequin told the outlet.

Man Created Fake Football Team and Promised A Full Season, But It Was All A Lie

A man is being accused of forming a fake football team and cheating people out of thousands of dollars, per WSBTV

Deputies in Jasper County, SC, say that 37-year-old Nathaniel Drayton from Ridgeland convinced several people to join a post-graduate football team named the

    “Hardeeville Vikings.”

He lied and said he owned the team.

Ridgeland is accused of taking money from the victims by promising them housing, meals, practice facilities, and a full season of football games. However, none of these services were rendered, according to the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities reported that Ridgeland arranged hotel stays for the victims and had them stay several days, accumulating a debt of $23,000. Drayton was eventually arrested and charged with two counts of fraud related to a hotel, boarding house, or restaurant and six counts of breach of trust for getting signatures or property under false pretenses.

  • Passengers On Delta Flight To Portland Report Bleeding Ears and Noses Caused By Pressurization Issues, Reports Say

Passengers On Delta Flight To Portland Report Bleeding Ears and Noses Caused By Pressurization Issues, Reports Say

A Delta Airlines flight going from Salt Lake City to Portland on Sunday morning had to turn back shortly after taking off. The plane couldn’t maintain pressure above 10,000 feet, creating a scary situation for the 140 people on board. Two passengers told KSL, a news station in Salt Lake City, that some people’s ears and noses began to bleed during the flight, per CNN

Jaclyn Blain, who was flying to Oregon for work with some coworkers, said that soon after takeoff, she and her colleague heard strange noises and felt the plane dropping. Their ears began to pop, and she saw people around her holding their ears and noses. Some were crying, while others said they felt dizzy and had headaches. A baby was crying from the pain. Blain’s colleague told KSL it felt like someone had stabbed her in the ear.

    “It was scary,”

    Blain told KSL.

“You just don’t know what’s wrong. (My colleague) put her finger in her ear and was like, ‘Oh my god, my ear’s bleeding.’ And then they got my other colleague two rows behind me. I look back and he’s in tears.”

Paramedics were on standby to help passengers when they landed at Salt Lake International Airport. USA Today reported that 10 passengers needed evaluation or treatment. Blain’s colleague shared with KSL that doctors at the hospital told her that her eardrum had burst.

The airline issued the following statement to KSL about the flight,

“Delta flight 1203 from SLC to PDX experienced a pressurization issue in-flight that resulted in an air return to SLC. Customers have been accommodated on another aircraft. We sincerely apologize to our customers for the inconvenience and delay of their travels. The safety of our customers and people remains Delta’s most important priority.”

  • Sex Trafficker Left Girl At Walmart For Not Earning Him Enough Money After Making Her Sleep With His Brother and 20 Other Men

Sex Trafficker Left Girl At Walmart For Not Earning Him Enough Money After Making Her Sleep With His Brother and 20 Other Men

A Texas man is accused of making an underage girl, who had escaped from a group home, have sex with 20 different people, including his brother, who is referred to as

    “Big Face Tulu,”

    per Law & Crime.

Tyrone Berry, 58, faces charges of human trafficking and sexual assault of a child. In June 2019, deputies were called to a Walmart in Houston about a missing girl, reports state. She later told detectives that she had run away from the group home and ended up at a $39.99/ night hotel called North Villa Inn, where she met Berry. He allegedly forced her to

    “work”

in exchange for food. The complaint states that Berry also worked at the hotel.

The girl told authorities that Berry would arrange

    “dates”

    with men and

    “tell her what to do.”

The girl said she had to have sex with men for money, but she never received any cash; instead, Berry gave her food. He took her to his home and his brother Otis Berry aka

    “Big Face Tulu’s”

recording studio, where she was allegedly forced to have sex with Otis and 20 other men, while also being given drugs.

    Suspects Arrested

Detectives gathered evidence, and Tyrone Berry admitted to talking with her. She identified him in a photo lineup. He was arrested in November 2019, but the case was dropped in March 2022 because prosecutors felt they couldn’t prove it beyond a reasonable doubt. Prosecutors filed the charges again last week, and police arrested him.

They also got an arrest warrant for 54-year-old Otis Berry in November 2019 for sexual assault of a child, forcing prostitution, and human trafficking. He was on the run for two months before he gave himself up to the authorities in January 2020, according to Houston NBC affiliate KPRC. In an interview, he said his brother was to blame for his troubles.

“I’m really anxious to get my name cleared, and my story heard,”

    he said.

Tyrone Berry remains in the Harris County Jail with a $50,000 bond. The Texas sex offender website shows that he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child in 1994 and 2006.

Enrique Delgado-Garcia, 25, from Worcester, was hurt and lost consciousness during a defensive tactics training exercise on Thursday. He passed away the next day.

The training included boxing, as reported by WBZ-CBS News Boston.

After helping the recruit, the academy’s medical team determined he needed immediate care, so they took him to UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, according to state police Gazette.

“Despite the heroic efforts of medical professionals to deliver lifesaving care, Trainee Delgado-Garcia died at the hospital,”

Police Searching For Suspect Who Allegedly Threw Hot Coffee On Nine-Month-Old Baby

The parents of a baby boy who was burned when a stranger threw hot coffee on him are asking for help to catch the attacker, reports The Guardian. Nine-month-old Luka had surgery at Queensland Children’s Hospital after suffering serious burns on 60% of his body, including his face, neck, chest, and arms, from the incident on Tuesday.

“My baby boy didn’t deserve this, no one does. I wish he poured the hot coffee all over me and not my boy,”

the baby’s mother posted to social media.

“Please if anyone has any CCTV footage around Lincoln Street / Regina Street in Stones Corner please speak to police. This man needs to be found and charged.”

New pictures from Luka’s mom show him in bandages and special clothing, as he heals in the hospital. Police described the man who attacked Luka as being between 30 and 40 years old, with an average build and tanned skin. He was seen on CCTV wearing a black hat, glasses, a blue checkered shirt, and shorts.

“This man was standing above him, behind him, and poured a Thermos of hot coffee over him. He just started screaming,”

A friend of the mother, Zara Mazza told the outlet. Bystanders quickly came to help the baby by pouring water from their bottles on him. Then, a trainee nurse offered her apartment for a cold shower so they could keep water running on him continuously.

“Bub is in a stable condition … they say that he’ll need regular dressing changes under anesthetic over the next weeks. They don’t know how long, but, yeah. It’s gonna take a while.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for Luka’s medical expenses.

Florida Teacher Arrested For Putting 3-Year-Old Autistic Boy In A Headlock While She Read Story To The Class

A teacher in Florida was arrested for putting a 3-year-old boy with autism in a headlock with her legs while reading a story, reports the NY Post

The child was crying, but the teacher continued reading, as reported by the police and seen in a shocking photo. On August 23, a classroom aide was preparing an activity in Vilma Otero’s classroom at Forest Lake Elementary School when she heard the boy crying. She saw the teacher holding him in what looked like a chokehold.

A surprising photo taken by the aide shows Otero, 59, sitting on a stool and reading to the class while the boy is lying on his back underneath her. The child’s face was red from yelling and crying as he tried to wiggle his way out of the teacher’s hold, according to the aide’s statement to the authorities.

The boy, whose name was not mentioned in the report, had difficulty communicating with the police due to his disability. However, he managed to express that he

    “got in trouble at school”

    and said,

    “She hurt me,”

according to the report. When talking to the young boy, deputies saw some redness on his neck.

Otero told the authorities that she has been a teacher for 36 years, mostly working with special needs kids. She claimed that it’s normal to move a child to another room when they need to calm down and denied restraining the boy as the aide described. Otero is facing a serious charge of child abuse.

  • Man Waited Two Years Before Killing Former Friend and Classmate Who He Blamed For Getting Him Expelled In High School

Man Waited Two Years Before Killing Former Friend and Classmate Who He Blamed For Getting Him Expelled In High School

A California man is expected to spend his life behind bars for the murder of a classmate he believed was responsible for his expulsion from high school, reports Law & Crime.

Owen Skyler Shover, 23, from Hesperia, killed 16-year-old Aranda Isabel Briones in January 2019 and buried her in the nearby San Bernardino Mountains, but her body has never been found. Recently, a jury found Shover guilty of first-degree murder with special circumstances. Under Golden State law, special circumstances are factors that can make a person’s sentence tougher.

On January 13, 2019, two of Aranda’s friends saw her get into his car, and her blood was later discovered in the trunk of Shover’s car. The two were former friends at Moreno Valley High School. On November 7, 2017, they were at a park with some other students instead of in class. Shover was carrying a small handgun with him that day. When a truancy officer approached, he threw the gun to Briones and told her to hide it.

In a panic, she tossed the gun into a drainage canal and got caught. When questioned, she admitted the gun was Shover’s. Both were expelled in February 2018. On January 12, 2019, Shover asked Briones to meet again, and they met at Bayside Park the next day. Just before 6 p.m., the car was driving north, heading toward a trailer park in San Bernardino County. On the way there, Shover messaged his brother,

“Be ready for tonight. Get shovels and lighter fluid ready.”

Gary Anthony Shover, 27, pleaded guilty in March to one count of accessory after the fact. He was sentenced to one year in county jail, followed by a year of probation. The older brother was originally charged with Briones’ murder, but that charge was dropped in 2022. The older brother took a plea deal, but Owen Shover chose to have a 6-day trial. After more than a day of deliberations, the jurors decided his fate.

He is facing a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced on October 25.

  • Man Dies After Allegedly Swallowing Bags Of Drugs Following Investigation At Alleged Drug House, Deputies Say

Man Dies After Allegedly Swallowing Bags Of Drugs Following Investigation At Alleged Drug House, Deputies Say

The Major Case Unit of the Volusia Sheriff’s Office is looking into the death of a man who reportedly swallowed drugs to evade arrest, reports WFLA.

The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were carrying out a drug search warrant at a house on Clara Avenue in DeLand around 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday. This followed an undercover investigation that revealed several drug sales from that location.

Deputies found 54-year-old Cornell McKinney among five people in the house. They were sitting outside while the investigation was ongoing. The sheriff’s office stated that McKinney didn’t respond to the detectives who were trying to get his information, leading them to suspect that he might be trying to hide or swallow drugs.

Detectives repeatedly asked McKinney to open his mouth and spit out what he was chewing, but he refused. When deputies called medics for help, he became unresponsive. Fire personnel performed life-saving measures and found three plastic baggies in his mouth, with two containing suspected heroin or fentanyl and crack cocaine. McKinney was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, and his family was notified.

The sheriff’s Major Case Unit is investigating his death, and the Medical Examiner will determine the official cause after an autopsy. McKinney reportedly had a history of nine previous arrests in Volusia County for drug offenses and theft since 2012.
