Timothée Chalamet’s new feature, Wonka, is doing wonders in Box Office previews. It is making history as one of the family movies to soar high.

Wonka Box Office Preview Hits Millions In Box Office Preview

The David Heyman musical production premiered on Thursday and has been previewed in a handful of theaters. As expected, Chalamet’s Wonka viewership began in North America and has already scored $3.5 million in box office previews. It started by showing in 3,400 theaters.

This family film is already competing with Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the animation’s box office preview was a whopping $35 million in-house.

Box office projections for Wonka claim it will either be on the same level or surpass it by an extra $5 million. In a few days, more theaters will join in viewership, making the numbers soar to 4,203. These centers will include Imax and other large formats.

What Fans Should Except from Timothée Chalamet’s Wonka Film

Wonka features Chalamet as young Willy Wonka. Its plot centers on the story of the legendary Candyman from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. This is one of the first productions from the stables of Hollywood following the American Writer’s Guild Strike.

The film features talented acts coming together for a great story. The list includes Hugh Grant, Rich Fulcher, Tom Davis, Olivia Colman, Rowan Atkinson, Matt Lucas, Calah Lane, etc.

Wonka is not the only movie families will enjoy this holiday season. On Christmas day, the on-screen musical titled The Color Purple will debut. Three days prior, DC’s Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom will hit the cinemas. On that same day, a movie from Universal and Illumination called Migration will air.

Maybe Wonka will triumph as a family musical and reach the heights of films like The Greatest Showman on Earth. But until it’s released, we don’t know how far it will go.
