Authorities have reported that a Florida woman, identified as Kim Keeling, is facing charges of kidnapping and interference with custody of a child, per Fox News

According to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded on Friday around 11:20 a.m. when Keeling allegedly took her neighbor’s two-year-old child and locked herself and the child inside her apartment, refusing to release the child to the rightful parent. The child’s mother, desperate to reach her daughter, broke a window in an attempt to gain access.

Law enforcement was called to the scene, and despite their demands, Keeling refused to comply. Concerned for the child’s safety, a deputy climbed through the broken window and found Keeling in her living room, holding the child and a rolling pin. Keeling was arrested for the kidnapping and is currently being held without bond at the Okaloosa County Jail.

Fortunately, the child was unharmed during the incident, as confirmed by the sheriff’s office. Keeling told deputies that she had taken the toddler from its mother to protect them from falling down the outdoor stairs.
