A federal jury has found Svetlana Dali guilty of sneaking onto a Delta flight to Paris last November, according to ABC News.
Dali reportedly made her way through security using a lane meant for crew members. She managed to avoid gate agents by mingling with other passengers. She faced federal charges for boarding an overnight Delta flight from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City on November 26, 2024, and traveling to Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport without a valid ticket. Dali had pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Dali was convicted by a federal jury in Brooklyn on Thursday. Dali is a Russian citizen and was a U.S. permanent resident who recently resided in Philadelphia. She took the stand during the short trial and admitted that she did not have a boarding pass when she boarded the plane. She explained that she simply walked to “where the people were boarding the flights and then I just walked into the airplane.”Dali mentioned that she remained in the bathroom for almost the duration of the flight, almost from the beginning to the end.”
According to the FBI complaint, Dali could not produce a boarding pass when the flight landed in France. The complaint noted that French law enforcement prevented her from entering the customs area once the plane arrived. Officials attempted to send Dali back to the United States on a different flight soon after. However, she was taken off the plane after refusing to comply with her return. Eventually, she was returned to New York to face the charges.
