Common has a desire to become a superhero for everyone, as he showcases his Spiderman push-up skills. The actor appeared on Today’s Hoda & Jenna show to discuss his book, but he left an impression that Marvel might need him for their next Spiderman film.

Common Markets Himself as a Great Writer and Spider-Man WannaBe

During his appearance on Hoda & Jenna’s show, Common took a chance to appeal to the producers of Spider-Verse to cast him. He demonstrated his strength and fitness by performing push-ups with the Spiderman leg fold. In a post that included clips from his studio visit, Common focused on the first clip where he seemed to amaze the hosts with his exercise. In the caption, he jokingly said:

“Tell them to put me in the Spider-Verse. How many Spider-Man push-ups can you do?”

Other photos accompanying the video showcased Common’s book, “And Then We Rise: A Guide to Loving and Taking Care of Self,” with the interviewers. Back in the studio, he discussed what the new book has to offer and praised Maya Angelou for being an inspiration.

Additionally, according to VIBE:

“When I was thinking of a title for this book, I was considering the idea of self-care and self-love as something that also benefits the community… When you take care of yourself and reach your highest potential, you’re actually uplifting your community, family, and the world just by being in your own power, light, and joy. I saw it as more of a movement and not just something for myself.”

Common’s Spider-Man journey may have started sooner than he expected, even though he is already a real-life superhero. The actor, who has been in a low-key relationship with Jennifer Hudson since 2022, expressed his gratitude for having her in his life during an appearance on her talk show. While describing his lover, he made the host blush. Although the couple has kept their romance private, they have been inseparable for nearly a year, going on dates and displaying public affection.

Regarding the potential Spider-Verse feature, Common will have to wait for a response from the MCU. Currently, the producers of the superhero film are hoping to win an Oscar in the Best Animated Feature category. Spider-Verse is competing against Nimona, Elemental, The Boy and the Heron, and Robot Dreams.
