  • Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering and Dismembering 2 Women Discovered In Two Different Storage Units

Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering and Dismembering 2 Women Discovered In Two Different Storage Units

A man in Minnesota admitted guilt on Thursday to murdering and dismembering two women, whose remains were discovered in separate storage units. 41-year-old Joseph Steven Jorgenson from Woodbury, is set to receive two 40-year sentences on Feb. 28 for the murder of Manijeh Starren back in 2023 and Fanta Xayavong back in 2021, according to prosecutors, per the New York Post

Under Minnesota law, that’s the maximum for each intentional second-degree murder charge. He’ll serve both sentences concurrently, with two-thirds in prison and one-third on supervised release, which is typical in Minnesota.

John Choi, Ramsey County Attorney said in a statement,

“These heinous acts of cruelty took the lives of two young women and forever altered the future of their friends and family.”

The investigation started in April 2023 after Starren’s father reported her missing when she failed to check in with him. He mentioned her mental health and addiction struggles. Evidence from her apartment, surveillance, and her accounts pointed to Jorgenson as the main suspect.

Prosecutors stated that keys from Jorgenson’s apartment led officials to a Woodbury storage facility, where Starren’s remains were located in coolers and a bag. They later discovered Xayavong’s remains in a Coon Rapids storage locker. Reports added that Xayavong was his previous girlfriend back in 2021.

Ex-Nurse Arrested For Abuse After 3 Premature Babies Suffered From Fractures At Hospital In Virginia

An ex-nurse was apprehended for child abuse after three premature babies suffered

    “unexplainable fractures”

at a hospital in Virginia, which has now closed its neonatal intensive care unit, according to the New York Post

26-year-old Erin Elizabeth Ann Strotman currently faces charges of malicious wounding and felony child abuse for the injuries at Hernia Doctors’ Hospital in Richmond. The infants were discovered with shattered bones in late Nov. and early Dec., Henrico County Police reported.

The recent violence follows an incident where four babies, including a newborn with a broken leg, were injured in the same unit in summer 2023, officials said. Officials are reviewing numerous NICU videos and re-examining the 2023 and 2024 cases as part of a wider investigation, according to the press release.

    According to the department,

“The Henrico County Police Division is utilizing all available resources to ensure a thorough investigation into this matter.”

In Dec., the Hackeys revealed their heartbreak after baby Noah couldn’t move his leg at the hospital in Sept. of 2023.

    Dominique Hickey informed WTVR,

“It was kind of discolored. I told the doctor on staff, got some x-rays, and we determined he had a fracture to his leg, so we are going to splint it for the next two weeks, and then she was like do you want to hold him?”

    He continued,

“In my mind I’m like, I don’t want them to turn it around on us and say we broke his leg or anything like that so I was like, ‘No, we don’t want to hold him, we are just going to process this.’”

The hospital has temporarily ceased admitting babies to the neonatal intensive care unit as a precaution and has added stronger security measures.

    According to a hospital statement,

“In late November/December, we discovered that three babies in our Henrico Doctors’ Hospital NICU had unexplainable fractures, similar to an incident involving four babies in the summer of 2023.”

“We initiated a thorough internal investigation, informed the families and notified the proper authorities and regulatory agencies and worked collaboratively with them on their investigations,”

    the statement continued.

A hospital rep confirmed Strotman as an ex employee; she graduated as a registered nurse in 2019, per her social media page.

  • Several United Airlines Staffers Got Sick After Eating Christmas Meal Given To Them By The Airline

Several United Airlines Staffers Got Sick After Eating Christmas Meal Given To Them By The Airline

Many United Airlines employees at Denver International Airport got sick after eating food given to them by the airline on Christmas Day. A letter from the Association of Flight Attendants, representing United workers in Denver and Phoenix, stated that 492 meals were served to flight attendants, with 24 reporting food poisoning symptoms, per Business Insider

A flight attendant informed Denver7 he felt nauseous and had diarrhea not too long after eating the holiday meal, and said many colleagues also became sick. He mentioned United Airlines requires staffers to deliver a doctor’s note within 48 hours when calling in sick during holidays.

A United Airlines spokesperson told the news outlet,

“United is monitoring reports from some employees about gastrointestinal symptoms following holiday meals served to Denver employees last Wednesday, and we are in contact with health authorities. There has been no impact on our operation.”

The AFA first reported about 200 employees felt sick after eating the Christmas meal, but later corrected this, saying the actual number of reports were much lower.

The union advised workers who called in sick, suspecting the meal as the cause, to email their supervisor about their symptoms and request any attendance points be waived. Although the letter mentioned there’s no certainty if these are food poisoning cases are due to similar viral symptoms that have been circulating, airport management will continue observing the situation.
