Mother Accidentally Runs Over 7-Year-Old Son After Making Him Walk Home From School As Punishment

An Alabama mother, Sarai Rachel James, 27, allegedly ran over her seven-year-old son with her car accidentally. The incident occurred just a short distance from the school, with the school and their house being eight blocks apart. The boy reportedly tried to grab the door handle as the car was moving, but James accelerated, causing him to be pulled under the car and run over by the back tire. He sustained injuries and was hospitalized for abrasions.

“It was a miracle he was not hurt worse than what he could have been,”

Boaz Police Department Chief Michael Abercrombie said.

  • Remains Of Deceased Individuals Discovered At Former Funeral Home Owner’s Residence

Remains Of Deceased Individuals Discovered At Former Funeral Home Owner’s Residence

The Colorado home of Miles Harford, 33, who previously owned Apollo Funeral and Cremation Services in Littleton, was discovered to contain the body of a woman and at least 30 sets of cremated remains on February 6, according to AP News. Authorities made the grim discovery after Harford was evicted from his rented home in southwest Denver.

The remains, some of which were stored in temporary urns, were located in various places around the property, including the crawl space, a moving truck, and a non-functional hearse in the backyard. Denver Police Cmdr. Matt Clark revealed these details during a press conference on Friday, noting that the deceased woman found in the hearse was 63 years old and had passed away in August 2022.

The remains are believed to be linked to individuals who passed away from 2012 to 2021, and investigators are using tags and labels to identify the families.

“At times he was not able to complete cremations to provide remains to families for services. Unbeknownst to families who sought services from Apollo Funeral Services, Mr. Harford may have occasionally provided family members with another person’s cremated remains instead of their family member’s remains so services could be held,”

    Clark said.

Authorities mentioned that the business had been closed since September 2022, and an arrest warrant was issued on Friday for suspected offenses including abuse of a corpse, forgery, and theft.

  • Suspected Chinese Spy Pigeon Finally Released After 8 Months In Indian Bird Lockup

Suspected Chinese Spy Pigeon Finally Released After 8 Months In Indian Bird Lockup

A pigeon that had been detained in India for eight months on suspicion of being a Chinese spy has finally been released into the wild, reports the NY Post

The bird was captured near a Mumbai port in May when people noticed two rings tied to its legs, with writing that resembled Chinese letters. This led to speculation that the pigeon was a Chinese agent seeking confidential information from India.

However, after a thorough investigation, it was determined that the pigeon was actually an open-water racing bird that had escaped from Taiwan and migrated to India.

Once the pigeon was cleared of any espionage activities, it was transferred to the Bombay Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, where it was set free on Tuesday.

  • Lawsuit Filed Against Angus Cloud’s Estate For Unsettled Debts, Including $4,000 Phone Bill From Verizon Wireless

Lawsuit Filed Against Angus Cloud’s Estate For Unsettled Debts, Including $4,000 Phone Bill From Verizon Wireless

The late actor Angus Cloud is facing financial trouble even after his passing, as creditors are now seeking payment from his estate.

According to court documents, various lenders claim that Cloud owed them thousands of dollars, prompting legal action to recover his outstanding debts. One of the companies involved is Verizon Wireless, which alleges that Cloud accumulated a total of $4,282.70 in purchases and goods before his untimely death last July.

Cloud’s mother, Lisa Cloud, who serves as the sole executor of his estate, received the suit from Verizon. Additionally, Cloud’s former manager, Diomi Cordero, has also filed a lawsuit against the estate, asserting that the actor owed him $94,770 in unpaid commission.

Cordero claims that Cloud violated their contract and stopped commission payments in 2022 without providing any explanation. In his suit, Cordero said that Cloud,

“[had] a record of making numerous commission payments to him until he ceased making such payments with no basis.”

Cordero states that he tried to resolve the issue with Cloud’s legal team, but they couldn’t agree. He insists that he played a significant role in getting Cloud lucrative deals with well-known brands like Ralph Lauren, Rayban, and Zara, and believes he should still receive his commission despite Cloud’s death. In addition, J.P. Morgan Chase sued Cloud’s estate in November for an unpaid credit card bill of $9,056.11. No updates have been reported regarding the outcome of these lawsuits.

  • Cruise Passengers Allegedly Brought More Than 100 Bags Of Marijuana Onto A Ship From Miami To The UK

Cruise Passengers Allegedly Brought More Than 100 Bags Of Marijuana Onto A Ship From Miami To The UK

Two passengers of a Norwegian Cruise Line are facing accusations of transporting 112 bags of marijuana on a ship headed to the United Kingdom from Miami, per the NY Post. Michael Quesenberry and Savannah Rose Minami were found together in a cabin aboard when authorities searched.

Law enforcement officers, assisted by a drug-sniffing dog, discovered 56 vacuum-sealed bags containing a green, leafy substance in Quesenberry’s luggage. Subsequent testing confirmed that the substance was marijuana, as stated in the affidavit. He

“claimed that this marijuana was for personal use and that he had a medical marijuana card back in California,”

    the document states.

Minami initially said she had just met Quesenberry at the bar and was allowed to leave, but officials found out about the hidden stash and brought her back to the cabin. They searched her luggage, which included two suitcases, a carry-on bag, and a backpack. Inside, they found 56 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana. The total weight of the packages was 71.9 kilograms, around 158 pounds.

“Based on my training and experience, the packaging and quantity of marijuana in the luggage belonging to each of Quesenberry and Minami is consistent with drug trafficking and distribution,”

Department of Homeland Security special agent Joseph Angarone wrote in the affidavit.

Both suspects were charged with conspiracy to possess and distribute a controlled substance. Quesenberry and Minami pleaded not guilty and were released on bonds. Quesenberry’s bond is $250,000 and Minami’s is $150,000. They have also surrendered their passports. If convicted, they could each face up to 80 years in prison and $4 million in fines.
