A shooting at a Las Vegas gym on Friday afternoon resulted in two deaths, including the shooter, and injured at least three others. The incident occurred at the Las Vegas Athletic Club, with the suspect later dying in the hospital, reports the New York Post.
Officials were heavily present along North Rainbow Boulevard; however, there was no ongoing threat to the public. Three injured people were taken to local hospitals, with one in critical condition. Police are still looking into the motive behind the shooting.
A witness, Claudio Vigani, told KLAS-TV, “They said ‘Get out, get out, get out… Then I saw the dead guy next to the machine.”
Gary Steward, on his way to the gym with a companion, told the Las Vegas Review-Journal that stopping at a nutrition store saved them. If they hadn’t stopped, they would have been at the front desk when the shooter arrived. They saw glass breaking and fled back to the parking lot.
Steward said, “It’s just a weird feeling right now… It’s strange. Who shoots up a gym?”
