Florida Woman Arrested After Her Two Grandchildren Died In Her Care Less Than A Year Apart

A Florida grandmother is now in police custody after both of her children tragically lost their lives while in her care, Fox 13 Tampa Bay reported.

In December of 2021, the lives of Kaila Nix and Drew Schock were forever changed when their 16-month-old son, Ezra, died while he was being babysat by Kaila’s mother, Tracey Nix. As Nix was napping, Ezra opened multiple doors, went under a fence, and wandered into a pond outside his grandparent’s home in Wauchula, Florida. After being given time to grieve, Kaila graciously forgave her mother.

“I was believing that I was leaving my children at any point with a master’s degree holding,  well-educated, well respected, Sunday school teaching, choir-singing, social person,” Kaila explained. “I believed that surely I must be making this other thing with Ezra too much. The sheriff’s office said it. DCF told us. Everyone did.”

Sadly, tragedy struck the family once again. On November 1st, Drew went to the Nix’s family home to pick up 7-month old Uriel to find their driveway filled with police cruisers and ambulances. Tracey had been inside her home for many hours when she had realized that she had forgotten Uriel in her car. When she finally remembered, it was too late.

“When I pulled up to the house, I’m coming to pick up my little girl and there’s ambulances there, and I’m thinking what the is going on,” Drew recalled. “I was having flashbacks, because when I pulled back with Ezra there, it was the same exact scene.”

Tracey was later arrested and is now facing charges of aggravated manslaughter of her granddaughter. If found guilty, she could face a minimum of 12 years and a maximum sentence of 35 years.

Florida Man Arrested After Stealing Pennsylvania School Bus To Transport Dead Deer

A man from Florida has made his way into police custody in a Pennsylvania county after stealing a school bus and leading state troopers on a chase. He later told police it was an attempt to bring a dead deer to his home so that he could fertilize his garden, Fox 43 reported.

On Tuesday, at around 7:10 A.M., a school bus from Abbottstown, Pennsylvania was reported as stolen. When officers spotted the bus in a parking lot, they attempted to pull it over. The driver initially came to a stop, but then drove away as police approached him. “Winding in and out of traffic lanes,” the suspect was followed onto Route 15. A little over a mile later, the bus exited the freeway, and turned into a neighborhood, where the man fled on foot.

As the suspect attempted to outrun officers, he began to undress himself, leaving a trail of discarded clothing. When he was finally located and apprehended, he was completely naked.

Later identified as 25-year-old Tony Jay Saunders, the man claims that he had put a dead deer in the back of the bus so could take the animal to his home so he could use the remains to fertilize his garden. Despite his intentions, the 25-year-old was arrested for fleeing police, resisting arrest, disregarding traffic lanes, reckless driving, and receiving stolen property. The suspect remains at the York County Prison on a $100,000 bond, and is scheduled to appear in court again in April 24th.

  • Father Charged After 2-Year-Old Missing Son Was Found Dead Inside Alligator’s Mouth, Relative Of Father Says ‘My Cousin Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty’

Father Charged After 2-Year-Old Missing Son Was Found Dead Inside Alligator’s Mouth, Relative Of Father Says ‘My Cousin Is Innocent Until Proven Guilty’

The search for a 2-year-old boy has come to a shocking end after the toddler was located inside an alligator’s mouth in Florida. The boy’s father was charged with two counts of first-degree murder. One count for the child and the second count for the fatal stabbing of the toddler’s mother, Pashun Jeffery, 20, reports the New York Post.

Chief Anthony Holloway said officials were investigating the vicinity of Dell Holmes Park when they witnessed an alligator with

    “an object in its mouth”

inside of Lake Maggiore. Police shot at the reptile, killing it, which forced it to release the toddler’s body. The boy was then retrieved; however, it’s unclear how the boy died. Officials are unsure if he was dead before being located in the lake. The chief offered his condolences, he said,

“We are sorry that it had to end this way.”

The search for the young boy began at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday after they discovered the young mother deceased inside her apartment from several stab wounds. The boy’s father, Thomas Mosley, was identified as a potential suspect after checking himself into a hospital with

“cuts to his hands into his arms.”

It’s unclear if the injuries were due to self-defense; however, officials declared

“nothing in our investigation leads us to believe that he is a victim.”

The suspect checked into the hospital without his son. Reports say he remains in the hospital. The department later sent out an amber alert for the toddler as well as began a volunteer search. Dive teams were sent out to nearby pounds near Taylen and Jeffrey’s home and officials later discovered the toddler.

The father’s cousin recently came out and defended his name. The relative wrote on Facebook,

“MY Cousin IS INNOCENT UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY!! lossY’all can’t believe everything you hear!! Now I’m not saying nothing didn’t go down between him & Pashun because I wasn’t there but I will say somebody else is involved!! And far as Taylen HE DID NOT DO IT Thomas has been & is still in the hospital since Thursday Morning!”

  • Inmate Accused Of Attempting To Hire Cellmates To Murder Her Family So She Can Receive A $2 Million Inheritance

Inmate Accused Of Attempting To Hire Cellmates To Murder Her Family So She Can Receive A $2 Million Inheritance

A woman, Tureygua Inaru, who was apprehended in Florida for threatening to murder her co-workers at Disney reportedly attempted to hire her fellow inmates to murder her grandparents and parents for an inheritance of $2 million, according to the New York Post

The 29-year-old from Orlando has been behind bars since December. Marco Lopez the Osceola County Sheriff informed WESH that Inaru told two inmates of her parent’s wealth and that she would be entitled to a $2 million inheritance when they pass away, says an affidavit. As part of the deal, the woman offered anyone who would murder her relatives $50,000 per victim, reports ClickOrlando.

The woman also stalked the attorney, Peter Francis Donnelly, who was prosecuting her case through the internet, and said she

    “wanted him to suffer.”

The woman claimed that if she could not find anyone to kill her relatives then she would do it herself. Reports say her fellow inmates alerted officers in the jail and informed investigators that the woman instructed them on how to make the murder appear as a robbery. Back in January, the sheriff’s office sent an undercover officer pretending to be an inmate to Inaru’s cell. Although she revealed her disdain towards the attorney, she claimed she didn’t try to hire a hitman.  However, during interviews with investigators, she confessed to the plan of having her family killed.

The 29-year-old claimed that her parents molested her and her siblings when they were young. One relative told officials that she

    “needs mental health help.”

    Inaru has been charged with

“three counts of solicitation to premeditated murder and one count of cyberstalking for allegedly sending death threats to Donnelly,”

    reports The Post.

Florida School Pulls Disney’s ‘Ruby Bridges’ After Parent Filed Complaint, Claiming It Teaches ‘White People Hate Black People’

A Florida parent filed a formal complaint against her child’s elementary school for showing the Disney historical film on the story of Ruby Bridges, due to fears that it will influence students to believe that

    “White people hate Black people,”

    per PEOPLE

The biographical drama tells a story about a six-year-old girl who was chosen to integrate a Louisiana elementary school in 1960. North Shore Elementary School, which was showing the historic film in honor of Black History Month, sent notices home asking parents for permission for their children to watch the PG-rated film.

    “A standard protocol,”

Pinellas County Schools spokesperson told the outlet. The description to parents stated,

“Ruby’s heroic struggle for a better education becomes a lesson for us all.”

However, one parent, who reportedly declined to give her child permission, thought otherwise. The parent, citing several racial slurs and threatening comments heard in the film’s depiction of what Bridges withstood, filed the complaint saying that the film could teach the class that

    “White people hate Black people.”

The parent asked that Ruby Bridges be withdrawn from the list of films approved for elementary school students, saying it was

    “more appropriate for eighth-graders,”

PEOPLE reported. In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the district spokesperson said that after the formal objection was filed, the parent was notified that

“the school would not have any future showings during this school year as the movie had already been shown.”

The film is now under review however, it has not been removed from all schools.

“The movie remains available through the district’s licensed movie library,”

the spokesperson said. The complaint comes as parents across Florida we’re given the right to regulate what their children are taught in public school education, lawfully recognized as The Parental Rights in Education Act.

  • Mayor Of Miami Beach Imposes Curfew After Weekend Shootings: “We Don’t Want Spring Break”

Mayor Of Miami Beach Imposes Curfew After Weekend Shootings: “We Don’t Want Spring Break”

The mayor of Miami Beach has announced a city-wide curfew after two fatal shootings occurred over the weekend, The Hill reported.

On Friday night, at around 10:40 P.M., a shooting occurred, sending two people to a nearby hospital. One later died from his injuries while the other continues to be in a critical condition. Early Sunday morning, at about 3:30 A.M., another shooting occurred, leaving one man dead and the other severely wounded. Though police have confirmed that the two incidents were “targeted and isolated,” Miami Beach Mayor Dan Gelber announced a curfew as the popular spring break destination has an influx of out-of-city visitors.

“While most may come here to enjoy the amenities of Miami Beach, the overwhelming volume of visitors, a few that come with bad intentions in the presence of guns creates a wholly intolerable situation,” Gelber said in a video message to residents.

The curfew will start at 11:59 P.M., and end at 6 A.M. this Thursday through Monday. The curfew will require businesses to close by midnight, but will not apply to those traveling back and forth from work nor the residents of the city going to or from their homes. Hotels can remain open only for those who are guests.

“As I’ve said many times, we don’t ask for spring break in our city,” Gelber explained. “We don’t want spring break in our city. It’s too rowdy, brings too much disorder, and it’s simply too difficult to police.”

  • Florida Woman Pleads Guilty To Attempting To Light 1-Year-Old On Fire At New York Truck Stop

Florida Woman Pleads Guilty To Attempting To Light 1-Year-Old On Fire At New York Truck Stop

A Florida woman has accepted a plea deal after attempting to light her 1-year-old daughter on fire, Law And Crime reported.

In May of 2022, deputies from the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of several fires at a truck stop in Tyre, New York. As firefighters put out the flames, they discovered a one-year-old inside the building, covered in a flammable fluid. The child’s four-year-old sibling, who was suffering from head injuries, was discovered in a nearby abandoned tractor-trailer. Their parents, Jamie Avery and Lisbeth Collado, were later found and arrested.

Initially charged with attempted aggravated murder, second-degree attempted murder, second-degree arson, second-degree attempted arson, and first-degree attempted assault, Collado has accepted a plea deal. In exchange for pleading guilty, the attempted child killer will now only be facing attempted assault charges. Avery had originally agreed to the plea deal as well, but then later filed a motion to withdraw his plea.

On May 10th, Collado is scheduled to reappear in court to be sentenced to an underwhelming nine years in prison and five years of parole. The whereabouts of the children are unknown to the public, but state officials say that they have recovered and are doing well.
