    Man Found Guilty For Torturing Girlfriend and Tattooing ‘Degrading Words’ On Her Before Killing Her

    A California man, Saul C. Nava, was found guilty of murdering his girlfriend on Christmas Eve. Officials sadly discovered Alisen Takacs-Escobar dead in the couple’s apartment, with signs of torture and tattoos on her body with

    “degrading words,”

    per Fox News

    Nava was convicted on nine felony charges, including first-degree murder, torture, and kidnapping. After he called 911 for medical aid, cops discovered his girlfriend dead in their Thousand Oaks apartment, with injuries all over her body.

    According to the district attorney’s office,

    “She suffered from extensive bruising, the top of her head had a large laceration, and degrading words were newly tattooed on the center of her chest.” 

    The man was apprehended at the home. 

    During the investigation, police found a tattoo kit, baseball bats, a hammer, and a screwdriver. These tools were used by Nava to beat and torture Takacs-Escobar for days. Videos on his phone showed him taunting her just hours before her demise.

    Authorities discovered that Nava had a history of tormenting his girlfriends. One former girlfriend reported that he restricted her to a closet and physically assaulted her repeatedly during their relationship.

    48-Year-Old Drowns Trying To Save Woman and Her Son While On Family Vacation In Bermuda

    A Long Island man drowned while attempting to save a woman and her child at Horseshoe Bay Beach in Bermuda during their family vacation. 48-year-old Jamie Labros passed away on Oct. 7, per the New York Post. The mother and son were saved but sadly, Labros lost his life in this heroic act. 

    According to his family, he was on a cruise with 11 of his relatives when the incident occurred. 

    Joey Pappas, the hero’s brother told WABC,

    “He was my hero when I was a kid and he was my hero now.” 

    “Me and him never split up, and the one time we split up, this happens,”

    he continued. 

    The family’s hope is to enlighten travelers about the beach, which cruise lines promoted but allegedly did not include the proper safety measures to protect beachgoers. 

    “There’s no rescue skis, there’s no emergency teams that’s gonna get there in time,”

    said Lambros’ mother, Phyllis Gasparri. 

    However, the Bermuda Police told WABC that there were alerts about rough beach waters because of hurricane season.

    Man Randomly Stabs 19-Year-Old College Student In New York City Before Smirking At Him As He Fled Scene

    A man randomly stabbed 19-year-old college student Alan Ryvkin in the neck near City Hall in Manhattan on Wednesday morning. Ryvkin was heading to court for an unregistered vehicle ticket when the attack occurred. While he spoke with a woman outside the municipal building, a stranger approached from behind and stabbed him, sadly, leaving him bleeding. Despite the shocking assault, Ryvkin managed to survive, per the New York Post

    Ryvkin said,

    “When he walked away, the dude looked at me and smiled with the knife in his hand… I didn’t know who it is. I don’t know what it is. I got stabbed and I sit on the ground and start bleeding out.”

    The attacker, dressed in a dark leather jacket and brown hat, fled down Reade Street and was still at large by early Wednesday afternoon.

    Medics swiftly took Ryvkin to Bellevue Hospital, where he received treatment for the stab wound located between his lower neck and upper back.

    Missing Man’s Body Was Guarded By His Loyal Pit Bull When He Was Found Dead

    Officials reported that a man, Cody M. Johnson, was discovered dead in northwestern New York, being guarded by his loyal Pit Bull. The 39-year-old was found in Lewis County by a local camp owner, per USA TODAY

    James Blackwell of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department wrote in an email,

    “His dog Afton had not left … Cody alone, and [the dog] was located in good health.” 

    Blackwell also wrote that it appears the 39-year-old likely died from exposure to the cold weather while outdoors. However, an autopsy is scheduled for Saturday morning, according to the Lewis County District Attorney and Coroner, Jeff Tompkins. 

    Johnson’s dog resisted moving until investigators offered him water and biscuits, calming him down. A family friend is caring for the dog, which will go to Johnson’s relatives in North Carolina. Johnson was reported missing Sunday afternoon after last being seen at home in Watson early Saturday morning. He made a phone call later on that morning, which was his last communication.

    Pastor Reportedly Charged With 100 Counts Of Crimes Related To Child Sexual Abuse Material

    An 43-year-old pastor from Arkansas, James Vincent Henry, was apprehended on Oct. 15 after an investigation revealed child sexual abuse material on social media. He faces 100 charges related to these crimes, reports KNWA Fayetteville. 

    According to officials, Henry is the pastor at Crossroads Assembly of God Church in Delight. Authorities received tips from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, leading to a warrant for Snapchat and Kik messages.

    An arrest warrant for Henry was issued on Oct. 14. He was apprehended by Pike County police on Oct. 15, facing 100 charges related to child sexual abuse material. 

    Reports say that Henry previously served as the youth pastor at Newsong Church in Centerton, according to the Crossroads Assembly of God’s website. He and his wife fostered 76 children in a span of four years. The couple later went on to work with women from age 18 to 25 at a transitional living program.

    It looks like fans are having mixed feelings about Selena Gomez giving a homeless man $20 for food. The video captured by TMZ appears to be gaining much attraction across X (formerly known as Twitter). According to TMZ, the New York City homeless man was given the money after requesting it from the singer as she stopped to greet fans. Reports say Gomez didn’t have any cash, leading her to ask her bodyguard to take care of it. In the video, the singer’s bodyguard is seen rummaging through a stack of money, pulling out $20, and handing it to a homeless man.

    It appears fans have mixed reactions about this gesture. One person wrote, “so [much] money and only $20.” 

    “What can he buy? Some ramen?,”

    another X user said. 

    Other commenters applauded her kind gesture, as one person said,

    “It puts money in someone pocket that’s theres giving the man the ability to make his own choices what to do with the money. It’s a small amount but that’s not the point it’s about giving someone the choice hold the $ or spend look at both sides.”

    One Dead and At Least 12 Injured During Halloween Party Shooting, Reports Say

    A shooting at a Halloween party in Oklahoma City early Saturday morning resulted in one death. Officials reported the gunfire began after an argument between two groups at Patty’s Event Center, according to the New York Post

    According to Sgt. Jon Skuta, a

    “verbal altercation”

    started inside the building and then moved outside, where the shooting occurred.

    The sergeant went on to tell CNN,

    “Those people then went back into the event center where the shooting continued.” 

    Sadly, one man died and at least 12 others were hurt in the shooting, with two in critical condition. Officials say multiple gunmen used rifles, and officials are investigating. Cellphone videos have been gathered as evidence. The number of attendees at the party is unclear.

    Officials apprehended a woman from Kentucky, 32-year-old Torilena Fields, after discovering a dismembered and partially cooked body in her home. Authorities found body parts in her backyard and a pot in her kitchen oven that was still warm. Reports indicate she had been

    “casting spells”

    prior to her arrest, per the New York Post

    Kentucky State Police charged Fields with abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence, and obstructing justice. A maintenance worker, hired by her mother, discovered the dismembered body in her yard. Reports added that her mother, Trudy, owns the property. 

    The maintenance worker expressed concern that the remains might belong to Fields. He mentioned a confrontation with her and reported that she acted aggressively while casting spells the day prior to her arrest.

    Police arrived in the afternoon but Fields didn’t come out until 11 p.m. after they obtained a warrant. She was covered in blood, and body parts were found inside and outside her home.

    Willard Miller, an Iowa teen who pleaded guilty to murdering his Spanish teacher, Nohema Graber, 66, with a baseball bat, is ordered to serve 35 years behind bars before parole eligibility. He was 16 when he committed the crime back in 2021, alongside another teen. Miller was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum term, but he appealed, claiming it was unconstitutional to impose a minimum sentence on juvenile offenders, reports the Associated Press.

    On Friday, the state Supreme Court agreed with the district court’s ruling, stating that mandatory minimum sentences for juvenile offenders are allowed if

    “unique factors of their case are considered.”

    Officials Confiscate $500K Worth Of Fentanyl That Was Hidden In Carne Asada Beef At Traffic Stop

    California officers seized nearly $1.7 million in fentanyl this month amid two traffic stops. One stop on Oct. 3 found 11 pounds hidden in packages of raw carne asada beef, per KRON4

    Officers arrested the suspect from Washington, who was taken to Fresno County Jail. The following day, officials seized 120,000 fentanyl pills worth $1.2 million and apprehended two others from Washington in Merced County. 

    Gov. Gavin Newsom said,

    “Throughout the state, California continues the tough work to get deadly and illegal drugs off our streets. I am proud of the efforts by our CHP officers here to help keep our community safe and hold drug peddlers accountable.” 

    The governor’s office reports that California has improved its efforts against fentanyl trafficking by adding about 250 more service members at state entry points since June.
