    2 Students and Former Student Of Temple University Under Fire After Impersonating ICE Agents On Campus

    Temple University officials in Philadelphia are conducting an investigation after two students reportedly pretended to be U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents at an Insomnia Cookies on campus over the weekend. Per FOX 29, a third person recorded the incident. Campus authority received reports about the impersonation at Cecil B. Moore Avenue on Saturday night.

    The students wore fake shirts with “ICE” and “POLICE” written on them.

    Three suspects attempted to enter Johnson and Hardwick Residence Hall but were stopped. A 22-year-old Temple student was apprehended and suspended. Aidan Steigelmann was charged with impersonating a public servant.

    On Tuesday, campus safety announced that all three individuals involved had been identified. Two are students under interim suspension, while the third is an ex-student not connected to the university.

    A car speeding away from a Philadelphia hospital after dropping off a gunshot victim hit three nurses who were helping the patient early Saturday morning, leaving one seriously injured, according to officials, per the Associated Press

    The silver Jeep Cherokee had just dropped off the man at Penn Presbyterian Hospital around 4:30 a.m. when it struck the three male nurses, police reported. One 36-year-old nurse is in critical condition with facial injuries and internal bleeding. A 37-year-old nurse has head injuries, while a 51-year-old nurse suffered head and back injuries; both are in stable condition, police said.

    The 28-year-old shooting victim came in with several gunshot wounds and might have also hurt his head in the hit-and-run, according to police. Penn Medicine described the hit-and-run as

    “devastating”

    but said that the staff kept working to save the gunshot victim and care for all their other patients, even while their own coworkers were being treated. 

    Officials mentioned that they are offering support to the victims and their families and are working with the police, who are looking into both the hit-and-run and the earlier shooting. It is unclear what the status of their health is at this time.

    Philadelphia Barbershop Owner Arrested After Fatally Shooting Neighbor Who Called Him The N-Word, Reports Say

    Maurice Byrd, aged 41, has been arrested and charged with the murder of Stephen Strassburg, aged 37. The incident took place outside Razor Reese’s Salon and Spa in Hatboro, Pennsylvania, per NBC Philadelphia

    According to a news release from Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele and Hatboro Police Chief Mark Ruegg, Strassburg was found by Hatboro police officers in the salon’s parking lot on Saturday, June 8, 2024. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later pronounced dead at the hospital. 

    Police reports state that Strassburg was shot in the face, shoulder, and back. The details were revealed in a criminal complaint obtained by NBC10 on Monday.

    “A joint investigation into the homicide by Montgomery County Detectives and Hatboro Police found that there was an ongoing dispute between the defendant and the victim, who lived above Razor Reese’s, which is owned by Byrd,”

    the DA’s office and police said in an initial news release.

    Byrd told the 911 operator that he was being

    “verbally assaulted”

    by a white man who was calling him a

    “dirty N-word,”

    according to the affidavit of probable cause.

    “While on the phone with the 911 dispatcher, Strassburg can be heard saying ‘what are you going to do, you going to shoot me (N-word),’”

    the criminal complaint said.

    “Byrd then says, ‘I just had to shoot him,’”

    the criminal complaint continued.

    “The dispatcher asks, ‘did you hit him’ to which Byrd responds, ‘yes I did.’”

    “Strassburg did not have a weapon at the time of the shooting,”

    authorities said. Maurice Byrd has been arrested on charges of first-degree murder, third-degree murder, and possession of a weapon. Court records indicate that he is currently being held in jail without the option of bail.

    A tragic incident occurred in Philadelphia as a young child accidentally shot herself in the eye with her father’s firearm, reports the NY Post. Kayden Barnes, a three-year-old girl, discovered the gun inside their Germantown home and began playing with it. 

    In a devastating turn of events, she unintentionally fired the weapon. Both of Kayden’s parents were present in the house at the time, and authorities have stated that the gun was not properly secured. 

    Despite being rushed to St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children, Kayden was pronounced dead early Monday morning. 

    An individual in the home was briefly detained for questioning but was later released without charges. The exact location where Kayden found the gun has not been disclosed.

    Philadelphia police are currently searching for a teenage murder suspect who managed to escape from a hospital, and is

    “considered dangerous,”

    the department announced per ABC News. The suspect, identified as 17-year-old Shane Pryor, was being held on murder charges. 

    Pryor fled from the emergency room parking lot of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia on Wednesday after being brought in for a hand injury.

    “He was able to escape from staff and run from this area on foot,”

    Deputy Commissioner of Investigations Frank Venore said. Pryor is described as a Black male with a light complexion, standing at 5’7″ and weighing 180 pounds.

    He was last seen in the University Avenue and Civic Center Boulevard area wearing blue sweatpants, a blue sweatshirt, and slides with socks. Surveillance footage showed Pryor entering and exiting buildings in the vicinity after his escape. 

    Authorities believe Pryor is no longer in the immediate vicinity. If anyone has any information about Pryor’s whereabouts, they are urged to call 911 and avoid approaching the suspect.

    A family’s worst nightmare came true when a Spirit Airlines flight made the mistake of sending a 6-year-old first-time flyer to the wrong airport, located hundreds of miles away from his intended destination, reports the NY Post

    Maria Ramos, the grandmother of the young passenger named Casper, revealed that he was supposed to land at Southwest Florida Airport in Fort Myers after flying solo from Philadelphia on Thursday, as reported by WINK News. Ramos was shocked when she learned Casper never boarded the correct plane to Fort Myers, leaving only his luggage to make the trip.

    “They told me, ‘No, he’s not on this flight. He missed his flight.’ I said, ‘No, he could not miss his flight because I have the check-in tag,”

    Ramos told the outlet.

    “I ran inside the plane to the flight attendant and I asked her, ‘Where’s my grandson? He was handed over to you at Philadelphia?’ She said, ‘No, I had no kids with me.’”

    According to the grandmother, Casper was mistakenly sent to Orlando International Airport, which is over 200 miles away from Fort Myers. Ramos had to drive four hours to retrieve the six-year-old, describing the incident as the most

    “frightening”

    experience she has ever had. Spirit Airlines offered to compensate Ramos for the lengthy drive.

    In a statement to the outlet, the airline’s spokesman, Michael Lopardi, wrote,

    “The child was always under the care and supervision of a Spirit Team Member, and as soon as we discovered the error, we took immediate steps to communicate with the family and reconnect them.”

    “We take the safety and responsibility of transporting all of our Guests seriously and are conducting an internal investigation. We apologize to the family for this experience.”

    Transgender LGBTQ+ Activist Faces Charges For Alleged Rape Of Minors In Philadelphia

    A well-known LGBTQ+ advocate in Philadelphia has been accused of sexually assaulting two minors, reports the NY Post. Kendall Stephens, a 37-year-old trans woman, was arrested on Monday and is facing charges of rape, involuntary assault, unlawful contact with minors, and indecent assault against two boys aged 14 and 9.

    The inquiry into the reported sexual assault involving Stephens, initiated on September 25 following a grandmother’s complaint, alleging that Stephens abused a boy on three occasions since 2022, starting when the child was 8 years old.

    Another victim came forward and told police that Stephens had assaulted him. Investigators stated that Stephens had given the victim gifts unexpectedly, which the victim believed were meant to

    “keep him quiet,”

    according to court documents. Additionally, Stephens allegedly threatened one of the victims, saying that he would go to jail if he disclosed the abuse to anyone.

    Stephens was a victim of a hate crime last year. She was assaulted at her South Philadelphia home, August 24, 2020. One of the attackers, Tymesha Wearing, was sentenced to house arrest for her involvement. 

    Stephens’ became a prominent activist in her community, advocating for justice and safety for the LGBTQ+ community. Stephens is scheduled to appear in court on December 29th. Her bail has been set at $250,000, according to court records.

    Non-Verbal Man Fatally Attacked by Two Aggressive Pitbulls After Entering The Wrong House

    A man was mauled to death by two pitbulls after mistakenly entering the wrong house, per the Daily Mail. The unfortunate incident occurred on October 4, when Antonio Shaw, 63, arrived at a residence located on North 62nd Street in West Philadelphia

    As per police reports, two out of the five pitbulls present at the house viciously attacked him.

    “These dogs was very vicious and hungry. These dogs were eating him like a piece of steak,”

    said Sharese Jackson, Shaw’s sister. 

    Shaw had previously suffered from a series of strokes and lost his ability to speak, crippling him from calling out for help during the attack. A neighbor witnessed the incident and promptly called 911. Police promptly responded to the call and upon arriving on the scene they fatally shot one of the two dogs involved in the attack and injured the other. The other pitbull was later euthanized by animal control.

    Shaw was swiftly transported to a hospital. However, given his pre-existing health condition, the consequences of the attack were fatal. He had undergone 15 surgeries according to his sister, but Shaw tragically succumbed to his injuries on December 4.

    “It just didn’t go well for him. He was hanging in there, but it just turned for the worse,”

    said Jackson. 

    Shaw leaves behind three children and a beloved family.

    “My brother Antonio was a very wonderful person, and he loves his children and he loves his family,”

    said Jackson.

    “I want Antonio to know we love him, and he will never be forgotten and he was a great person,”

    added Shaw. 

    According to authorities, the owners of the house have not been charged at this time. Shaw’s family has launched a Gofundme to raise around $3,000 to cover the funeral expenses.

    Man Arrested After Pepper Spraying and Tying Up Restaurant Employee During Robbery

    A man from Philadelphia has been charged by the police in New Jersey for his involvement in a robbery at a steakhouse. During the incident, a female staff member was assaulted with pepper spray and tied up with duct tape, reports Fox 29

    The incident occurred at close to 10 p.m. at the Mikado Japanese Sushi and Steak House. 

    According to the police, 30-year-old Jevonte Pressley entered the restaurant after it had closed, wearing a gas mask. He allegedly used pepper spray on the only employee present, then tied her up and covered her mouth with duct tape. He stole cash from the register before leaving.

    A coworker found the employee who had been injured and she received medical care for minor injuries at a nearby hospital. Evesham detectives identified Pressley as a suspect following an investigation. 

    The suspect has been charged with

    “robbery, aggravated assault, theft, and criminal restraint,” and is currently being held behind bars for unrelated charges.” 

    Reports added that the incident occurred on Sept. 23.

    Rapper Beanie Sigel has revealed that he is working on a new project that will utilize artificial intelligence. The Philly rapper said that he has been using AI to help him recreate his old voice, which was damaged after he was shot in 2014.

    “I think I found a good friend with this AI thing,”

    Sigel said in an interview with DJUTV.

    “A lot of people frown on AI, but I think that’s gonna work for me.” 

    Sigel said that he is hoping to use AI to create music that sounds similar to his older work.

    “Y’all want, what they say, the ‘old Beans’ back?”

    he asked.

    “‘Cause the pen’s still there. It’s just the voice.”

    Sigel did not provide any specific details about his new project, but he said that it will be released

    “real soon.”
