Bethenny Frankel has reacted to the news of RHONY’s cancellation. The Real Housewives of New York City OG cast member claimed the report both pleased and saddened her. Frankel reminisced about her time on the show but said the news wasn’t unexpected. She blamed RHONY’s cancellation on the network executives, who she claimed made too many mistakes.
Bethenny Frankel Shares Her Thoughts On RHONY’s Cancellation
Bethenny Frankel has reacted to RHONY’s cancellation. She took to TikTok to share her thoughts about the cancellation and what led to the franchise’s demise. Frankel called the news “bittersweet” and a “poetic” conclusion to the long-running franchise. She recalled being on the show, which she termed a “disaster.” Frankel said:
“New York City was my playground and ‘The Real Housewives of New York City’ has been canceled. It’s poetic. It is bittersweet. It is the end of an era, for me personally, and for that show which was an alchemy of disaster.” She continued, “It was a flawed group of women in a flawed city authentically being ourselves—unhinged, unmatched, shockwaves through the real socialite community in New York and the media.”
The television personality opined that RHONY’s cancellation happened because “the powers that be pandered to society and tried to fit 25 pounds in a five-pound bag. And if you try to please everybody, you please nobody, so they cast this glossy, curated version of what they thought people wanted New York City to be… People loved it because no matter what, it was real. It was the realest that genre can be,” she said, and concluded, saying, “Bye, New York. You will be missed.”
Bethenny Frankel Always Thought The RHONY Reboot Was A Mistake
Bethenny Frankel’s musings were in keeping with her previous sentiments about the RHONY and the reboot. She was part of the OG cast, which included Luann de Lesseps, Jill Zarin, Ramona Singer, and Alex McCord. However, Frankel left the franchise after season 11 in August 2019. She had been critical of the show ever since, especially its reboot, and often discussed it on social media. In 2024, Frankel posted a now-deleted clip berating the network for its decision to introduce the reboot in 2022.
The reboot featured cast members including Sai De Silva, Ubah Hassan, Erin Lichy, Jessel Taank, Brynn Whitfield, and J.Crew fashion guru Jenna Lyons. The Skinny Girl margarita founder called the reboot a “piece of trash” and “unwatchable,” per Yahoo. She added, “Justice for Sonja [Morgan], Dorinda [Medley], Luann [de Lesseps], Ramona [Singer].”
RHONY’s Cancellation May Be Temporary
Meanwhile, RHONY’s cancellation may not be permanent. Inside sources say that Bravo‘s decision to take the show off the air may be reversed in the future. Per Page Six, a source believes the network is looking for ways to make the show more viable. “We’re trying to figure that show out,” the source told the outlet. They added, “We want to figure it out. We think there’s still life in it.”
Nevertheless, figuring out how to get the show going again may take a while. However, fans have hope for a future return, considering that RHONY’s cancellation is not the network’s first. The network also canceled The Real Housewives of Miami franchise in 2013 but revived it in 2021. However, one thing is almost certain—the cast will likely all be replaced again, like the OG members.
Bethenny Frankel’s reaction to RHONY’s cancellation is not surprising to those who follow her closely. Nevertheless, fans of the franchise have not received the news well. Hopefully, Bravo will figure out how to revive and keep the show viable.
